A (Not So) Happy Family Outing (Closed)

It was a warm, sunny late new-leaf day, and Leopardclaw wasn't content to spend it laying around Sunningrocks.  Even though ThunderClan now had access to the coveted rocks for a short time, the pile of boulders had started to feel more like a prison to him than a relaxing rest point.  Sighing, the golden spotted tabby tom rose to his paws from where he lay near the edge of the main rock, and began to pad away towards the forest.  Out of the corner of his eye though, he noticed his mate's beautiful pale calico pelt, and the twin pair of his own kit's golden spotted fur.  Remembering a promise he had made some time ago, before the camp had burned down, Leopardclaw's somber face broke out into a bright smile, and he trotted over excitedly.  Purring a greeting to his three dear family members, the tall warrior bent down to nuzzle his mate's ear before purring; "Hey, how about we all go on a patrol, as a family?  It's a beautiful day, the prey's sure to be running!"

Reedpaw was enjoying the sun warming his golden fur when he saw his father coming. He sat immediately and with a cheerful smile on his muzzle. The Sunningrocks wasn't so bad but he still missed the old Thunderclan camp that got burned by the fire. However, the young tomcat was satisfied and happy enough by just having his family close.
"Hi, dad!" He purred back to Leopardclaw. Then, the curious apprentice listened with perked ears to the words of the tabby golden cat to his mate and Reedpaw stood up more energetic. "Yes! Please! I wanna show you how much I have improved since I was a kit! What do you think, mom?" After saying that, the pale golden and fluffy cat walked to get closer to her mother and nudged her with her head, gently, trying to convince her to join.

Lichenfang had dozed off as she was relaxing in the sunlight. Her mossy green eyes closed peacefully yet she did this for a while. She opened her eyes as she heard her mates voice. Smiling some a small purr rumbled in her throat. She was about to respond but it was cut short as she heard her son Reedpaw.  She gave a small smile as he nudged her with his head"ok ok I'll come "She purred."i was going to agree anyways"she mewed.

Honeypaw had glanced over to them quietly as she heard them. The herbs she had in front of her that she had been sorting for the moment was forgotten but not too much forgotten that she didn't remember she needed to collect some herbs. With her mentor Spark(totally forgot the rest of her name -_- ) not having been around for a while Honeypaw even though worried had to take up the duty of being medicine cat as best she could. Padding over to her family quietly she mewed"mind if I could tag along...i need to get more herbs anyways"she mewed.

Reedpaw's smile widened, even more, when her sister said that she was going to join them. Even if she wasn't the apprentice of a warrior, like him, he was so happy to share a precious moment with his family in a patrol."Awesome!" He meowed happily after the words of Lichenfang. Then, he approached to Leoparclaw, twitching his tail impatiently to start with the patrol. Maybe that could make this boring life in the Sunningrocks a little more exciting. "So where are we going, dad? I'm going to catch a lot of prey wherever we go so I can be a great warrior just like you and mom!"

Leopardclaw watched with an amused chuckle as his soon Reedpaw jumped up enthusiastically, nudging Lichenfang until she agreed. Smiling, the large golden tom was about to purr when another voice entered the equation; that of his daughter Honeypaw. Waving his tail happily, the warrior mewed; "Of course you can tag along, I was hoping you would." Turning back to see the identical pelt of his son dashing up to him, Leopardclaw thought for a moment before answering his question. "Hmm....how about we hunt around the Great Oak? I've heard the prey has started to return there. Does that sound good?" Sweeping his gaze around the group until his eyes rested on his mate, Leopardclaw kneaded his claws against the stone in anticipation as he waited for their approval.

The forest fell still as an icy chill took hold, leeching the warmth and life entirely from the fire-ravaged forest. The sinister, ominously quiet Mist slithered from the depths of the trees, swirling silently around the still fire scorched trunks. The greedy trails of frost crept towards Leopardclaw, Lichenfang, Honeypaw, and Reedpaw with a frightening speed as the strange Mist closed in upon them. Before the ThunderClan family could spring out of the way, the Mist was upon them, enveloping them in its icy hold with no means for escape.

Not such a happy family outing now was it?

Reedpaw suddenly frozed when his body felt the sudden change of temperature. The apprentice looked at the strange mist approaching quickly, scared, and turned his head to his family but the tom couldn't find them because of the thickness of the mist. The pale golden cat starting trembling because of the cold that soon filled his body and walked through the strange white smoke. "Lichenfang! Leopardclaw! Honeypaw! Where are you?!" He cries, searching for them.

Honeypaw had been slightly lagging behind the group quietly her golden tail tip flicking quietly as she looked around for herbs she might need. Quietly the she cat stopped but it wasn't from her own doing as the mist enveloped her and her family she couldn't see in front of her and the cold seeped in quickly. Fear shone through the apprentice "Reedpaw!!! Mom!!!Dad!!!"The medicine cat apprentice called afraid she went ahead forcing her legs to move trying to find them in the mist the cold making her limbs tense and heavy.

Ooc well this was unexpected considering everything...

Lichenfang was just calm smiling some as she had went on the small family outing with them. That was until the fog rolled in covering everything in their sight. She started to get really cold but her focus wasn't on that it was for her kits and mate. She was scared that was for sure but her concern was the after of her family not to mention Honeypaw being the last source of a medicine cat of sorts for the clan. She was thinking about her clan as well.Though she didn't know what to do.

The Mist swirled thickly now, coiling and ebbing around the undergrowth and trees, leaving a menacing trail of frost in its wake as it eagerly gave chase to the ThunderClan cats. Their panicked cries became muffled within the Mist, rendering the cats almost completely helpless as it closed it on its target. An icy silence gripped the forest as the mysterious fog began to slowly disperse. Tentative bird song began to fill the air once more as the the Mist finally released its hold, but all was not well.

Honeypaw and Reedpaw had vanished as well.

Leopardclaw had no time to react before the mist overtook his family, the thick gray cloud distorting his vision as he tried to call out.  "Lichenfang!  Reedpaw, Honeypaw!  Follow my voice!"  Blindly the large golden warrior ran forward towards where he remembered his kits had stood; but now there was only empty ground.  Becoming frantic, Leopardclaw twisted his head around rapidly as he looked for any sign of his beloved kits.  They....they were gone!  Vanished, without a trace.  Heart pounding and breath coming in panicked gasps, the mist began to quickly retreat as fast as it had come, and he finally caught sight of his mate.  Running forward, he buried his muzzle deep into her fur for a moment before backing up a few steps, hazel eyes wide and unfocused.  "W..where did they go!  What just happened!!?  Our kits, OUR KITS ARE GONE!"  Suddenly, he felt his chest clench as if he had been bitten on the inside by a fox, and his breathing became even faster as he fell into a panic attack.

Lichenfang  poor heart couldn't take anymore heartbreak. She was somewhat fragile on the inside when it came to losing those close to her. The mist wasn't helping. When the mist vanished and with it her last two kits her heart pounded and hurt. Her eyes wide ears flat against her head. The scarred she cat gave Chase after the mist or tried to soon looking sight of it"no....no please not my kits!!"the former queen wailed."please give them back!!"She cried. She felt her mate press his muzzle into her fur but she couldn't tell at the moment the world seemed to be spiraling around her as she clasped or sort of laid down tears in her eyes.

Leopardclaw's chest heaved as he felt his body give way to uncontrollable panic. No...no we already lost their sister....not them too! Eyes frighteningly round and glazed, he pressed against his sobbing mate's side, trying in vain to console her. We've both lost so much in our lives....why must all good things be taken from us? With a slightly calming sigh, he nuzzled Lichenfang's cheek for a moment before pulling away, eyes hardening a bit with newfound determination. "We...we need to tell Blizzardstar! Come on Lichenfang, we have to go! We need our clanmates!" Jumping to his paws, the golden spotted tom began to dash off back towards camp, every pawstep feeling as if it would be his last.
