I hope something good comes from this... (Closed)

Nectarpaw wasn't exactly excited about having to clean ticks off of elders. But someone needed to do it, and that day it happened to be him and Heatherpaw who were assigned to the task. After he had gathered moss and dipped it in some of the disgusting mouse, he gingerly carried it in his claws over to the elders den. At the entrance he stopped to wait for Heatherpaw, and nodded in greeting to the elders.

Ooc did you pm the elders?

Heatherpaw trudged over to Nectarpaw trying to hide her disappoint in herself and her abilities at the moment. Her mother whom was also her mentor felt and told her she was useless it didn't help her at all. She carried a mouse vile soaked more hall over to her friend Nectarpaw."hey"she mewed quietly

IC: "Hi Heatherpaw, nice to see you," Nectarpaw said in reply to her greeting. He could tell that she was looking down, so decided to try to cheer her up. How would he do that though? He padded into the elder's den, hoping to think of something before they finished with their work. "So which of you would like to have your fleas removed by me, and which of you wants to have Heatherpaw instead?" he asked the two elderly cats.

Heatherpaw followed after lifting her head a little but as she padded into the den.

Pale Light of Dusk raised her head as the two apprentices entered her quiet den. What did they want? Flea removal? She gave them a small grunt of acknowledgment as they came in. "Don't care. Whichever of you wants to. As long as it's quick!" She settled back down again, wanting to continue to rest. It seemed like her nap wouldn't be continuing - now, she'd have to put up with these two. It can't be too bad, she thought. At least they're getting rid of those pesky ticks.

"Okay, Pale Light or Pale Dusk or whatever your name is. I'll remove your ticks for you," Nectarpaw decided good-naturedly. He was a bit embarrassed that he couldn't remember her name, but the Tribe names constantly confused him. Why couldn't they have shorter clan names, like him? He silently sighed and picked up the bile-soaked moss, using his paws to place it on the elderly she-cat's back. Her white pelt didn't have to many fleas on it, but still more than a warrior would have. As he pressed the moss against the Tribe cat's back, he pondered how to make this more exciting for all four of them, especially Heatherpaw.
"Hey Heatherpaw, whoever finishes first wins!" he announced, picking up his pace a little. He was planning on purposefully letting her win, because that would hopefully cheer he up a bit.

Laying in the elders den, Cedarfur laid as far as he could get from the Tribe cat with his head rested on his paws. While they had been with the clans for some time now, he still wasn't going to accept their company that easily.

Letting out a yawn and stretching his sore paws out in front of him, the tall tom watched as two apprentices walked in, most likely coming to help clean ticks. Took them long enough, he thought silently though he qasn't one to talk, seeing that he wouldn't be very excited to pick ticks either.

"I know we are just so amazing that you'd rather stand around and gawk at us, but these ticks won't pick themselves," the elder teased with a small smile, looking from Nectarpaw to Heatherpaw. Well, at least now he had some other company besides just the Tribe cats.

"O...oh sorry Cedarfur"Heatherpaw mewed apologetically to the elder. Picking up the miss soaked in mouse bile she padded over to the elder. Setting down the miss she began sorting carefully through the elders fur dabbing the moss on a tick when she found one moving as qquickly but as dilligently as possible

"So... What do you elders do when we're not around?" Nectarpaw made conversation, trying to take the tedium out of sorting through the fur of elderly cats in order to remove tiny little bugs. "And also, Heatherpaw, you should better pick up your pace if you you wanna finish before me!" Nectarpaw teased. He didn't pick up his pace though, hoping to create a feeling of mock arrogance. Hopefully Pale Light of Dusk wouldn't mind to much if he lost. And he planned on purposefully losing, so he really hoped that she wouldn't mind.

"Sleeping." Pale grunted. "Eating. That's about it. Not much to do, I suppose." They weren't as irritating as she'd imagined they'd be at least, but a bit of her still longed to see the To-Bes of the Tribe again. She'd made a clean break, forging ahead her own path. And for the most part, she was happy. She didn't trust that Crowstar by any means. But she didn't mention the worry that plagued her every time she closed her eyes. She had no fear in death - it was welcome, she dare say, but she hoped her tribemates stayed safe.
Snapping out of her trance, she flicked her gaze back to the younger cats. "Make it quick, will you?"

"Okay, okay," Nectarpaw replied to the elder's request, picking up his speed. It wasn't extremely hard to quickly sort through matted fur to find and remove fleas and ticks. He hoped Heatherpaw was going fast too, so that his plan would work. He suppressed a snort when a thought hit him. He was basically required to help make the elders more comfortable, but was spending his whole time trying to make Heatherpaw more comfortable.

Listening to Nectarpaw and Pale- what ever her name was, Cedarfur let out a huff but nodded his head. While he didn't nessisarily enjoy the company of the tribe elders, what she said was pretty much the truth. "What she said," the tall tom mewed softly, beggining to pure from the comforting feeling of Heatherpaw's gentle paws picking ticks off of him. It was always definitely a blessing to have apprentices around to help.

Continuing to listen to their conversation, Cedarfur let out a low growl from deep in his throat. "Hey, don't you talk to him like that," he meowed defensively, locking gazes with the other elder. "You're lucky he's helping you at all." While Cedarfur didn't like to start fights, he wasn't going to let some strange cat snap at his clan's apprentices and wasn't afraid to speak his mind about it either.

"Don't worry Cedarfur, I don't mind it. I should be hurrying up anyway," Nectarpaw reassured the elder, not wanting them to start fighting or something. This was already unpleasant enough as it was, and he wasn't about to make it more unpleasant by letting the two elders bicker the whole time.

Heatherpaw blinked quickly picking up her pace a little but all while being as gentle as she could pulling the ticks out. She blinked listening to the elders for a moment before she glanced to Nectarpaw as she was dorryong through Cedarfur's fur.

At last, Nectarpaw pulled the last tick off of Pale's pelt, letting out a sigh of relief that he was done. He let the moss with mouse bile fall from his paws dramatically, though he had to just pick it up again right again afterwards. Looking to Heatherpaw, Nectarpaw wondered which of them had finished their job first. "So Heatherpaw, who is the fastest flea and tick picker? Me or you?" Nectarpaw asked teasingly. He was pretty sure that Heatherpaw had finished first, as he had hoped.
