Goatpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Goatpaw trotted up, gazing with stunning eyes up at the WindClan leader. She was contented at the least, but she was worried, though she tried not to she it. She stared up at the ashen she-cat, wondering whose ceremony this might be.

Ashstar waited until the apprentice as came out. "We are here to day to give one of our apprentices a warrior ceremony," she started as she saw the petite white she-cat. "Despite many doubts, and the long time she has been made to wait, she has finally proven herself worthy of her warrior name. Goatpaw, please step forwards."

Goatpaw stepped forwards, feeling apprehension ripple through her Lilliputian body. She swallowed back fear. She bowed her head solemnly to the leader, surprised that she had gained the rank of warrior, and her eyes glittered earnestly. She finally mustered up the courage to raise her head. She shivered. Finally! she thought, half scared and half relieved.

"I do." Goatpaw's voice rang out clear and confident, more than she intended to. She gave a shy kind of smile, proud of herself for making it this far even after a setback. The snow-white she-cat tried to search for Smokepelt out of the corner of her vision; he might want to see this, too.

Sitting near the edge of the crowd, Smokepelt watched his apprentice and love of his life as she stepped up to the Tallrock, pledging her loyalty to WindClan. The tom couldn't have been more proud of the white she-cat and his heart felt as if it was going flutter out of his chest. After what felt like forever, Goatpaw was finally becoming a warrior, and he couldn't wait to go on a patrol with her. Hopefully the two of them would be able to find some time alone so he'd be able to tell her what he'd been meaning to tell her for ages. Seeing the she-cat look towards him, Smokepelt gave a small nod and a soft smile rested on his face as the ceremony continued.

Ashstar nodded. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Goatpaw, from this moment you will be known as Goatshade. StarClan honors your dedication and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." The leader leapt down and rested her muzzle on top of the new warrior's head.

Goatshade beamed with nonpareil pride. The white she-cat seemed an embodiment of pure joy as she dipped her head with gratitude towards the fluffy grey leader, and then turned away slowly to end the ceremony. Goatshade was her own now; she was Goatshade, and Goatshade was her. She padded zestfully towards Smokepelt, who sat, isolated, near the edge of the crowd. She sat down a little ways away from him, but purred at the thought of what could come next.

Standing up when the newly named Goatshade walked over to him, Smokepelt let out a purr from deep in his throat and nuzzled her cheek with his muzzle. "Congratulations," the taller grey and white mewed softly, embracing her sweet and calming scent. He couldn't wait to go on a patrol with her. 'I just hope Hazefur doesn't get too angry with me,' he thought to himself, although he was pretty sure that she already was, seeing that him and Goatshade hadn't been very discreet about their feelings towards each other. Well, no matter what happened, he'd always love the white she-cat and nothing would change that.

"W... Well..." said Goatshade, like she couldn't believe this was actually happening. Another, flirty voice interjected from the farthest reaches of Goatshade's mind. She spoke before she could halt herself. "Now, I have an idea. I'll see to it that your opinion on it is... the same?" Goatshade purred. She remembered Hazefur at the last moment, and at that moment, her voice had totally dropped.

Tilting his head, Smokepelt's face still held a smile. "Well, it depends on what your idea is," the tom mewed softly, though he perfectly knew what her so called idea was. The grey and white tom's pelt tingled with excitement and he couldn't wait to go on a patrol with her.

Goatshade's eyes had begun to scintillate. "Oh, you know~" she mewed. She stretched breezily, the sun seeming to congratulate her as it loafed around in the sky. She noted how pleasant it seemed.

"How about we go on a patrol after your vigil?" Smokepelt mewed with a smile. "We can chat more then," he added with a chuckle and gave his pelt a shake.
