Speckle...? (Open)

Specklekit bust through the nursery, long fur flying as it scraped and caught against the bramble thorns that lined the nursery, the young but almost already apprentice-sized kit skidded to a halt as she looked back to the nursery a triumphant sneer on her face. Finally! She had escaped her mothers grasp! Her father would have let her out much sooner, especially since she was much bigger than her siblings.

Padding further from the nursery the large kit snuffled around the dirt, not quite sure what she was looking for until she picked up the scent of some kind of insect. Excited at the prospect of catching something she smacked the wet ground with large fluffy paws and managed to hook a beetle in her claws before it managed to escape her claws and skitter away whilst she chased after it with a kitten squeal.

She stumbled to a clumsy stop when she saw paws before her, turning to look at the cat dead in the eyes with a frown that mimicked her fathers she gruffly meowed. "What is it?" pulling up to her full size to intimidate she fluffed out her kitten fur as she awaited a response.

She was a bit taken aback by her son's kits. She was prideful of them of course, but the name of one of them. Her granddaughter. Why Specklekit? It was unnerving how much the kitten looked like the leader's mother, although no one alive would make the connection, except maybe Bluesong.

So the surprise when the kit appeared before her was quite palpable. The words that came from the she-kit's mouth were so much like Specklefur. Darkstar's eyes glinted with shock and a bit of sadness as she looked down at the kit, though she swiftly covered it with cheerfulness. "Well, that's no way to greet your grandmother!" She huffed with false indignation.

Maplecloud giggled at Darkstars reaction to the young kit. "Come on Darkstar, she's just a kit." She joked playfully, her tail swishing amusedly.

OOC: Short but there

Specklekit turned up her nose and snorted in a kittish way, "Well I don't care! You owe me a beetle!" She scoffed and pointed to where the beetle had disappeared behind her grandmother's paws, bigger than hers but not by much. Trotting around the bigger obstacle she went back to snuffing it out before giving up all together, she'd find another one another day.

"You should pay attention more ya great oaf!" Specklekit swiftly insulted, feeling rather irritated at her loss of catch after all it was very hard to be a sneaky kit when you were so big that your joints and muscles ached with growth on an almost regular basis, she was confident that she'd feel better when she was fully grown and have a good nights sleep. The sudden prospect of growing up made Specklekit's fur rise along her back with excitement, though she could barely contain it. Her frown faltering and twitching as she tried to resist an excited grin.

Though when another warrior popped up and ignoring her as she spoke to Darkstar, Specklekit was enraptured by the movement of the tail. The big fluffy kit, about half the size of Maplecloud if not slightly bigger leaped onto the swishing tail with excitement.

"Specklekit?"

There was a tint of annoyance in Lionspark's words as she pushed her way from the nursery. It was hard trying to keep her kits under control, Specklekit causing the most trouble of the small group. It seemed Specklekit had taken advantage of Lionspark being worn tired from dealing with her kits and had left the den while she was asleep - having just woken up to notice one of her daughters missing. There was an spark of adventure in Specklekit that Lionspark could respect - she had the same feeling when she was a kit herself but her motherly feelings made her want to protect her daughter. As for the name...She had heard stories of Darkstar's mother throughout her life and thought it would be sweet to honor the she-cat by naming her kit after Specklefur. Only Lionspark hadn't realized how perfect that name had been...

Her blue eyes were narrowed as she glanced across the camp, fearful that Specklekit might have attempted to make a break for the territory or gotten into some sort of trouble but relief fell over the queen when she saw her daughter on the other side of the camp, both Darkstar and Maplecloud watching over her. "There you are!" she gasped as she darted across the camp, but almost came to a screeching halt when she heard her daughter's words. "Specklekit!" she hissed sharply as she came storming up to the group, her fur fluffing out as her daughter's hostile and unrespectful behavior toward Darkstar. "Watch your tongue, she may be your family but she is still the leader of ThunderClan!"

Maplecloud leaped up in the air when Specklekit pounced on her tail, not knowing what had happened. When she fell back onto the ground, she looked around, seeing that Lionspark had shown up. Her old friend from the apprentice days. "Ya know what? This little rascal here knows how to scare a cat." When she looked at the proud Specklekit, she realized her brute size, she was almost as large as herself. The sheer size of the kit wasn't what bothered her, it was the thought that if she ever had kits, anything could happen. Not that it was bad, it was just... abnormal.

The leader chuckled and shook her head. "No, Lionspark, it's alright." There were several things throwing her off about her grandchild, and she knew exactly what it was. 'She even talks like her. This is unnerving.' She watched Specklekit for a moment, letting out a little laugh as she attacked Maplecloud's tail. Still, her incredibly size made her wonder how big she's be as a warrior - perhaps as large as Specklefur, possibly bigger. It was a daunting thought. Spottedstar could barely control her, and even then, that was out of respect Specklefur had for her. What could she do with this one?

Specklekit head shot up as she looked at Lionspark with brief fear in her eyes before only realizing that it was just her mother - what was she so afraid for? - huffing she listened to the quick exchange of words before sticking her tongue out at her mother and scrunching up her face, ears flicking back against her head. Stopping the rude and disrespectful behaviour she eyed down Maplecloud and her tail before hopping off.

"You can't tell me what to do Lionspark! I'll do what I want, you can't keep my cooped up in that stinky ol' den I'm too big!" Specklekit challenged rather expressively, stomping a paw as her tail shot up and she fluffed out. Irritated that her mother decided to scold her the very moment she was out and having fun for once, or at least in her opinion anyways. "Oh! I'm Lionspark! I see my kit have fun and I scold her bluh blah blah bluh! Go away you kittypet!" Kittypet was such a fun word, she should use it some more later, maybe call her siblings kittypet's, maybe her dad. A sudden world full of possibilities suddenly opened up to her little mind.

"Hey now, none of us here are kittypets, we are big bad Shadowclan warriors!" She teased. She arched her back and fluffed her tail as best she could, laughing at what she thought she may look like. She chuckled, settling back down again. She knew now not to let her tail tip twitch, or she would be asking for it.

Lionspark's fur prickled at her daughter's horrible behavior. Oh while Lionspark had been a troublemaker of a kit, she had certainly never been as bad as her daughter was being right now. Her eyes narrowed as Specklekit dared to mock her but at Maplecloud and Darkstar's words, she allowed herself to take in a deep breath and calm down. Getting angry wasn't going to help...She would have to have a stern word with Specklekit or at least hope her daughter would grow out of this rude phase. She forced a small smile on her face as she glanced at Maplecloud, giving the warrior a nod. "She is right, we are big bad ShadowClan warriors," she hissed as she decided to play along. She leaned down, gently cuffing the young kit on the ear. "What are you doing to do about it, huh? You don't look like much of a warrior to me," she noted with a faint teasing tone. Specklekit was the biggest of her little but she still had a good way to grow.

Cloverpaw padded over greeting Darkstar, Maplecloud, and Lionspark with a dip of her head. "Who's this?" The apprenticbemeowed.
