Smokestripe grinned at Copperpaw's excitement to keep hunting, knowing how great it felt when he was able to leave the camp for a first time. It was rather surprising to dwell on how many moons ago that was. He watched as Copperpaw caught a lizard, nodding his head in acknowledgment of Copperpaw's hunting skill. They would be returning to the camp with a good bit of prey between the two of them! But it was time to hunt for his final piece as he tasted the air, picking out the scent of a toad this time. He dropped into a crouch, quickly swerving to face the direction of the prey as he stalked across the marsh, sticking to the shadows as he spotted his prey. His tail flickered once before he leaped forward with bared teeth. Killing the toad quickly, he gently picked it up and padded back to drop it in their growing pile. He took a step back, purring at all that they had caught before he focused on Copperpaw. "Try to catch one more then we will head back to camp."

Copperpaw was sitting down for a moment with his orange tail wrapped around his white feet as he watched Smokestripe catch that toad. He stood up as he wanted to try to catch a toad himself before they went back to camp. Suddenly, a raccoon aroused from the area and went straight for Smokestripe and slashed at him.

Raccoon used quick slash dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Smokestripe frowned sharply at the new scent, picking it up just meer moments before Copperpaw cried out his name. In an instance he was on alert, his teeth beared as his fur stood on edge. What was it? It wasn't a badger - he knew that dreaded scent far to well but blinked in suprise as a large gray and black creature appeared near the apprentice. But instead of going for Copperpaw, it was heading straight for him. His eyes widen as it leaped forward and slashed at him, blood quickly swelling from the wounds as pain flashed though him. He hissed back at the creature - a raccoon by the looks of it - darting before it could get off another blow, using his weight to pin down the beast as he drew his claws across its back. "I'm fine, Copperpaw!" he yowled to his apprentice when he heard the tom cry out in shock, even if he winced from the blood dripping down his chin but it was nothing that Honeydrop and Puddlepaw couldn't take care of. "Help me take this thing down!"

Smokestripe used Leap-and-Hold on the wild raccoon. Dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. The raccoon is stunned for 2 turn.

Copperpaw was ready to defend his mentor already. He hoped Smokestripe wasn't too hurt as Copperpaw charged at the raccoon, that was already stunned from Smokestripe's attack.

Smokestripe nodded in approval as Copperpaw hurried over to help him, keeping his weight on the creature. While it wiggled to escape as it hissed, he found his grip on the raccoon to be rather good and knew it wasn't going to have a chance to escape as he used his back claws on the creature. Already, he could feel its struggling growing weaker. Perhaps they would have another thing to add to the fresh kill pile.

Smokestripe kept using Leap-and-hold on the raccoon, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. The raccoon stunned for 1 more turn.

Copperpaw watched Smokestripe in battle as he fought alongside him. As he saw that the raccoon was once again stunned, Copperpaw prepared his next move. Since the raccoon seemed to be on it's last legs, Copperpaw just simply slashed at the gray animal's fur.

Copperpaw used front paw strike costing 10 stamina and dealing 6 damage.

At Copperpaw's simple blow, the raccoon went limb under Smokestripe's weight. Carefully the warrior stepped away from the still creature lest it just be pretending but there was no sigh of life - they had killed it. He smiled but that simple action sent a lash of pain though his face, suddenly remembering his scratch as blood dripped down his chin. "We should get back to camp," he said as he leaned forward and grabbed the raccoon's scruff in his mouth, dragging it over to their makeshift pile. Seeing how he couldn't hold them all, he dropped the raccoon and started to lay the different prey that they had caught on its back but a frog and lizard for Copperpaw to carry back. Motioning at Copperpaw to pick them up before glancing at the prey covered raccoon, he sighed with a faint shake of his head. "This...May be a slow trip back," he muttered before gripping the raccoon's scruff again and started to slowly backtrack in the direction of camp to make sure none of the prey fell from the raccoon's back.

Copperpaw nodded as he leaped backwards after the raccoon went limp. "Are you okay?" Copperpaw asked his mentor. He began to pick up what he could of the prey that he and Smokewhisker had caught during his training session. "At least this raccoon can make a good meal, right?" Copperpaw said.

"I'm fine," Smokestripe huffed as he pulled the raccoon toward the camp, wincing slightly from the pain of his cheek. It wasn't a deep wound but he knew it was something he would have to get Honeydrop to look at lest it get infected or anything. And nodded softly, at least the best he could while dragging a raccoon, at Copperpaw pointing out that it would make a good meal. "It will, won't be as good as that badger that I helped bring down one time however," he purred with a small laugh. Had he ever told Copperpaw about how they had killed the badger that had almost killed Larksong that one time? Now that he thought about, he noted bitterly that it wasn't a good memory...At least up to the point when they killed it after running into it for the second time.

OOC: MORE TRAINING. I made another topic for Copper, but Finch (Spotty's ShadowClan cat) is tagging along because Smoke just got him as an apprentice. This topic is a simple border patrol but there will be some hunting along the way just to teach Spotty the hunting system.
