Frosty battle training

Frostpaw sat down and ate a frog, relishing it's rich flavors. He had spent all morning taking care of the cranky elders, and he wanted to do something exciting. He spotted Mudfoot and wolfed down his meal so he could go talk to the ginger cat. His mentor had told him they train on some fighting moves soon. "I'm done with all the elder duties Mudfoot, can we go do some battle training now?" he asked hopefully.

Sitting near the freshkill pile and half asleep, Mudfoot opened his eyes to see Frostpaw standing in front of him, looking as curious and eager as ever. He finished all of his duties already? Impressive. "Good job," he meowed with a smile and stood up, giving his hind legs a stretch. "You finished your duties and I trust that you did a decent job, so of course we can. Let's head out to he training area and get started," the warrior replied and started padding out of the camp.

After a few moments of briskly making their way through the territory, the two reached the training area, a slightly less marshy area that was easier for apprentices to battle on instead of having their paws constantly get stuck in the muddy ground. "So, let's begin. Show me your battle crouch," he mewed, standing a cat length or two away from Frostpaw. Although the apprentice probably didn't know much about battling to begin with, kits were always used the battle crouch to play with their littermates and it was one of the few moves that came naturally to most cats.

OOC: apologies for putting so much in this post, but I'm assuming that you want to move somewhat quickly through this topic, so no need to waste 5 posts about them simply walking out of camp. (don't to reply to this ooc unless there is something that needs to be said)

Frostpaw followed his mentor into the clearing, and listened to his instructions intently. He crouched down, trying to distribute his weight evenly. And looked at Mudfoot for approval.

Observing the apprentice, Mudfoot took a moment to think about Frostpaw's form. "Good job, but make sure to keep your tail down, as if you were hunting. You don't want your opponent to be able to yank your tail, 'cause trust me, it hurts like nothing you've ever felt before," the warrior ended in a chuckle. "Now that you seem comfortable with the basics, let's get down to business."

With a playful smile on his muzzle, Mudfoot crouched down a catlength across from Frostpaw, his tail lashing back and forth. "Ready?" he mewed, circling the apprentice. Making sure his claws were still sheathed, the tom leaned forward and swiped at Frostpaw's rump with a big paw, quickly retracting it. He didn't want to jump at the apprentice just yet, seeing that this was one of the younger cat's first times in an actual battle. When ever Frostpaw felt comfortable with the situation, Mudfoot decided to let him start the real battle, knowing that a full grown warrior like himself would've had the upper hand if he attacked first.

OOC: I was just getting things going, so feel free to uses the battle system in your next post.

Frostpaw nodded, and sprang back from Mudfoot's outstretched paw. He quickly darted forward with a strike of his own, hoping to catch the warrior by surprise at his quick reaction.

Glad that Frostpaw wasn't scared of battling him, Mudfoot let the apprentice hit him and was ready. Rearing up on his hind legs, he batted at the apprentice's face with his paws, making sure not use his claws. "You're doing good!" he meowed excitedly, putting his front paws back on the ground.

Mudfoot used Upright front paws, causing 16 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Frostpaw felt satisfaction and his blow successfully landed on Mudfoot, then saw that his mentor had let him land it. He felt Mudfoot's paws come down on his head lightly. Frostpaw didn't want to lose initiative, he immediately leaped above Mudfoot and came down on his back.

Feeling the weight of Frostpaw when the apprentice landed on his back, Mudfoot let out a playful growl. "Good job! Way to take advantage of the situation," he meowed with a smile, crouching down from the apprentice that was on his back.

Mudfoot is currently held down. Will be free next turn.

OOC: btw, in case ya didn't know, while Mud is held down, I'm pretty sure you use Leap and Hold again (but do not roll the dice) and it deals the same damage. Does that make sense?

Frostpaw continued to grip onto Mudfoot's back, biting down lightly on his scruff.

Mustering up his strength, Mudfoot jumped in the air with his powerful hind legs and sent the apprentice to fall off. Letting out a chuckle, he swiveled around to face the apprentice, a playful smile on his muzzle. Lifting a paw, the warrior whacked the side of Frostpaw's head with a sheathed paw, just hard enough so that the apprentice could feel it.

"Good job!" the tom exclaimed with a smile. "You still have a lot to learn, but you're definitely on the right track," he added, giving his pelt a shake. "How about we head back to camp now?" Mudfoot meowed, satisfied with the night's training session.

Mudfoot used Front paw blow, causing 12 damage and costing 5 stamina.
