Pinewhisker was startled as Emberheart snatched Markedkit. "Are you trying to break up this family?" he hissed behind her, looking after his kits in pain. He could only guess how frightened they were, and Emberheart was taking this arguement too far. Talking to him in private about this and still giving the kits a loving warm family life was one, but taking the kits all the way to the Stony Hollow, where they were not allowed, and making a scene in front of them, that made him bubble with cool anger. "Sweethearts, take care. I'll be... hunting." he meowed, trying to sound as if nothing happened.

(Yep, that about summarises it)

Markedkit squealed, but calmed down. She was used to being carried but not passed from one cat to another. She thought over her mother's words and nodded, satisfied. She knew that not everything was okay, but decided to act like she thought otherwise, the warriors were stressed and worried and didn't need to worry about her own worries as well. She waved her tail at Pinewhisker, a cheerful goodbye wave, and said "See you soon! Make sure you visit the nursery before night time!" She looked at her sisters and smiled reassuringly before directing her gaze to Sheepnose. Emberheart was trusting her with Cypresskit so she decided to make an effort to trust her too, or at least look like it "I think we should go back to the nursery now, it's freezing" Her pelt was fluffed up against the icy wind and she hung limply from her mother's grip, clearly cold and hungry

It made Sheepnose boil with rage when Emberheart threw out an insult about Driftpaw. Her daughter. The white she-cat scooped up Cypresskit in her jaws, trying to stay calm for the sake of the kit. With a glare at Emberheart, she turned and headed for the nursery. All she really wanted to do was get away from all of this for a long, long time and never look back. Sheepnose didn't even bother to flick her ear in goodbye to Pinewhisker or Emberheart. This little "gathering" of theirs hadn't ended up very well.

Cypresskit looked at the older cats with eyes full of confusion and grumpiness. She squeaked in surprise as she was picked up by Sheepnose, the cat that her mother seemed to hate, the one that had used to be Pinewhisker's mate. However, right now she really didn't care. At long as she could finally get some sleep...
