Rise of the Clique [closed]

Adderpaw lay dozing outside of the apprentice's den with her molten amber eyes half closed, the weak Leaf-Bare sunlight barely bringing out the russet undertones in her fur. Rolling onto her side, she stretched out her forepaws until her legs quivered; paying no mind to the usual silence that hung heavily around her. Most of the other apprentices and young warriors spent as little time with her as possible- they couldn't handle the fact that her tongue was just as sharp as her claws. Opening her eyes more widely, Adderpaw began to scan the half-empty clearing with bored eyes, wondering if there was something interesting enough to actually warrant her attention for once. Raising her forepaw, she swiped her tongue over the thick fur that sprouted from her paw before quickly beginning to wash her face, listening to the faint murmur of other cats speaking without interest.


ooc) okay so this is just a little introduction topic for Adderpaw, Viperpaw, and Whitepaw. After this topic, they can start traveling in a herd and ganging up on other apprentices.

Her eyes were like fire.

She walked into camp, pelt an array of stripes. It was Viperpaw. Her head swung around, the constant chatter of camp a bore to her. She finally saw Adderpaw, who was an ally of hers. They had similar interests. She nodded her head to the she-cat. "Hey, Adderpaw," she murmured. She didn't want to stir the rest of the camp to action; albeit lazily. The ticking, barely noticeable on her pelt most of the time, was now clearly visible in the golden-sterling sunlight. She walked up to Adderpaw, keeping her gaze vigilant for Whitepaw.

Viperpaw was also fond of Whitepaw. The other apprentice, too, had an idea of what... was truly ideal to Viperpaw. This was no counterfeit friendship. The three she-cats were almost like... a clique. That's what they were, alright. And nothing would get in their way - of course, if something attempted to, that's why they were banded together. And they were a hazard to all apprentices.

Viperpaw shook out her fur, eyes searching for a blaze of white against a canvas of dull, grey grass. Only that was glazed with snow, melting, even. Viperpaw's pelt blended in perfectly. Her tail lashed, as she seated beside Adderpaw... a little ways away, of course. She was even half-awake, but she was only close to the exit of the apprentices' den, standing somewhat ominously. Yet the disinterest in her gaze gave away that she wasn't really trying to do anything.

Except for initiate the rise of the clique.

Adderpaw's ear twitched at Viperpaw; a sly look gracing the younger she-cat's face as the older apprentice settled down close to her. Ever since their similar interests had become apparent, she found herself nearly inseparable from Viperpaw and Whitepaw. The three she-cats banded together in an attempt to get one another further in life, while also offering a unique friendship that suited the she-cats better than others. In a world that was kill or be killed, these three were definitely the killers. Resting her head upon her paws, she glanced at Viperpaw with curious eyes. "Has Whitepaw graced us with her presence today?" Adderpaw questioned, eyes flashing at her own words, despite how it would appear as nothing more than a teasing sentence to most of their Clanmates.

"It seems not," Viperpaw replied, the usual venom to her tone that seemed more joking when speaking about her friends. These days, the she-cat was most definitely living up to her title - she was like a viper when around those she was unfamiliar with. To her family, she acted normal; to strangers, she acted sadistic; and to her friends, she acted favourable towards them. Now, she was with Adderpaw and Whitepaw basically all the time.

Whitepaw strode over to the group, looking for something to do. "I'm here" It had seemed seasons ago since she was still a kit. Now she would pass by the tiny bundles and sneer as they got into her path. She now had a place with Viperpaw and Adderpaw, always taunting the other cats. Yes, they were still apprentices, so what? The tabby she-cat took a place beside Viperpaw and lied down, letting the faint sunlight soak into her pelt.

Flexing her claws and making furrows into the earth, her gaze darted around the clearing. Other cats steered away from her, clearly aware about the words she spoke. They were powerful, in a bossy way. The apprentice yawned, showing her pointy teeth as she rest among the two. Only they, could stand her ways. Hanging out with them seem to make all the other cats seem like kits too.

"Speak of the devil," Viperpaw joked with a small, short-lived smirk. "She's here." Viperpaw looked at Whitepaw, with a nod of acknowledgement. Her dark fur, ticked with a gravelly grey, gave her a mildly grizzled appearance. She stretched out slightly upon Whitepaw doing so, as well.

The tabby she-cat rolled over, belly facing the sky. She pawed the air playfully and twitched her ears. The other two might see her as bossy, but there was also an soft spot for her too. Just slightly, and she only showed it to them. After batting at nothing for a while, she sat upright and yawned again. "I suppose New-Leaf's almost here?" She asked in a teasing tone. Snow was melting fast these days, and she longed for the forest to be lush with prey again, easier for hunting.

Viperpaw flicked an ear. "Oh, fur shure," she said in a weird tone, wrapping her tail around herself. She looked at Adderpaw, who barely acknowledged Whitepaw's presence, with murky, greenish-teal eyes. With increased clarity, she spoke. "Ah... Well, I just hope those kits don't ruin it." she mewed.

Adderpaw watched Whitepaw's approach and exchange with Viperpaw through half-narrowed eyes, flicking her tail in a silent greeting as she gazed at the two. Her whiskers twitched at Whitepaw's teasing words, and her pupils dilated with the faintest hint of annoyance. "It's much too early for New-Leaf; the winds still smell of Shadowclan, and not Riverclan. The thaw is still several moons away." She spoke nonchalantly, although the usual confidence still rang her voice as it always did. She shrugged slightly at Viperpaw's words, her eyes drifting to the well-sheltered nursery. "Kits will always ruin it because they're kits; they'll be much more tolerable once they become 'paws and realize how glamorous it is to train." Adderpaw pointed out wryly, twitching her ear as she spoke before resting her head on her paws.

"Once they stop lounging around like cumbersome badgers, too," she added, mildly agitated. Viperpaw licked her pad, settling it onto the ground. Trees sheltered the camp, of course, yet Viperpaw still slightly envied the fact that kits, of all things, got the most luxury. They were always pampered by their mothers, anyways - there were only one or two kits she was fond of in her entire lifetime. She glanced at both Whitepaw and Adderpaw casually.

"Ahh, but we were once kits too" She replied remarkably. Whitepaw stretched over to see their expressions but met Viperpaw's eyes. "Oh well, but we weren't so stupid and nosy" Sitting down and flicking her tail towards the nursery. But I loved to trick the other kits though! She secretly added in her mind. Her ears twitched with amusement as she watch two of the kits fighting.

Viperpaw's tail twitched in amusement, her smudged pelt gleaming. "Mmm-hmm." Viperpaw, somewhat lazily, agreed. There was not much more she could say about the kits, but that one spiteful kitten, Hollykit, was to the she-cat's liking. She licked her claws, then dug them into the soil. She could feel the sharp tips groping a root, and felt the release of earth when it finally snapped. The depths of her verdant green eyes shone, and she lifted her paw out of the soil. All of the debris fell off with ease.

"You're right Whitepaw- you were even more annoying and nosy if I recall correctly. " Adderpaw corrected wryly, eyeing the tabby she-cat with a hint of playfulness. "Today's kits don't even stand a chance in comparison to how much you got under every cat's fur." She added, flicking her tail for emphasis as she watched the two other she-cats.

Viperpaw's tail thumped lightly against the ground, as she looked up at Adderpaw, making a cutting remark, albeit playful. "I can barely remember what it was like to be a kit." she said. "Although... I know that I was probably irritating when I was." Viperpaw gave a brief smirk, looking at the nursery. Many of the kits stayed inside, but she was looking for Hollykit in particular.

"So?" She spit back at Adderpaw. But I remember Adderpaw was a nosy kit too! She flicked her tail annoyingly and sighed. Perhaps she was right, there was one nasty trick he had pulled on another kit while he was eating. It was funny, and perhaps a little stupid too. Maybe I was...
