Hazepaw's Warrior Ceremony

Jumping up to the Tallrock in one graceful leap, Smokepelt stood before his clanmates, his head held high and his jaw in a crooked position. Although a lot had gone down in the past few sunrises, Smokepelt wasn't about to let it drag him down, especially not now when his clan-mates needed him most. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" the deputy meowed awkwardly, trying not to wince from the pain in his jaw. Unable to perform the ceremony due to her injuries, Smokepelt promised Ashstar that he'd take care of it and here he was, about to give his beloved mate Hazepaw her warrior name.

Hazepaw had been snacking on a rather thin vole when she heard Smokeplt’s call. The older apprentice looked up and flicked an ear, a small smile crossing her muzzle as she looked up the deputy. The she-cat got to her paws, leaving the vole behind and going to go sit at the base of the tallrock. She wasn’t too surprised to see the deputy atop the looming rock,considering what had recently happened to Ashstar.

Looking down to the gathering clan and spotting his mate, Smokepelt decided to continue. ”Tonight, we gather to give an apprentice her warrior name. Hazepaw, please step forward,” the tom meowed with a smile, looking to the she-cat and flicking his tail back and forth in excitement.

With a sudden wave of excitement, the apprentice got to her paws, and moved forward to sit at the front of the crowd.

Waiting for the clan’s whispers and murmurs to quiet down, Smokepelt soon continued. ”I, Smokepelt, Deputy of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Hazepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?” he asked.

Hazepaw trembled with anticipation, looking up at Smokepelt. "I do!" She mewed, loud enough for the crowd to hear.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Hazepaw, from this moment you will be known as Hazefur. StarClan honors your kindred spirit and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." With that, the tom jumped down from the Tallrock and padded over to congratulate the newly named Hazefur.

Hazefur smiled, watching as the deputy hopped off of the rock to come and greet her.
