Jaw-dropping heights [Closed;;Jawbreaker Plot]

Unlike Falconstone, whom he didn't really ever pay much attention to, Smokepelt could care less about being "polite" to RiverClan cats. Usually the quiet tom was well, quiet, but like his father before him, other clans simply turned him off. Yeah, he may have been acting out a bit, but this was RiverClan for StarClan's sake. They didn't deserve pleasantries or greetings, and even so, needed to be put in their place, just to make sure they wouldn't try anything funny.

Trying to calm his triggered self down, the deputy lifted his head from his defensive position although he still kept his claws dug into the soft earth bellow his paws. "I'd stay quiet unless you want a hare shoved down yours," he meowed to the younger cat from across the gorge with a slight sneer. For some reason, the tom got worked up when seeing other clans on patrols but eh, what did it matter. Clan tension was normal, so it's not like his remarks were going to hurt anyone, right?

Backing up his fellow apprentice, Frogpaw overcame his momentary fear of the gorge to stand besides Sleetpaw and snipe back at the warrior. "Pft, we all know that WindClan can't afford to waste prey like that. That's why your warriors break the code all the time and hunt in other clan's territories. Pick a more realistic threat net time." Though he was aware that Smokepelt wasn't any old warrior, he wouldn't let him talk down to his fellow denmates, especially after what happened with Shellpaw. Also with the gorge between them, he felt relatively safe in taunting the WindClan patrol, it wasn't as if they'd be stupid enough to cross. He'd give them a piece of his mind.

That was the last straw. Using his strong hind legs, Smokepelt lept across the gorge. Luckily for him, the distance from the two patrols was just the right distance for the lean WindClan cats to jump across. In doing so, he accidentally hit Falconstone in the face with his outstretched paws, probably clawing the warrior on the cheek but he didn't care. The warrior would get over it.

Easily making it to the other side, the deputy landed on the apprentice who dared to sass him and bowled him over with a heavy force. "You take that back!" Rolling a foxlength or two with the apprentice, Smokepelt quickly let go of the apprentice and got up, arching his back, and letting out a viscous hiss. No one accused WindClan of treason without facing the consequences.

Smokepelt used Jumping Strike causing 15 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Before she could process what was going on, the angry WindClan tom jumped across the gorge and onto Frogpaw. "Frogpaw!" the apprentice yowled, scared for what ever was about to happen next.

IC: Sleetpaw let out a mrrow of amusement, ready to back up Frogpaw with another sharp jab when the WindClan tom bunched up his hind legs and... jumped?! He went flying through the air, bowling straight into the cat next to him. "Frogpaw!" he hissed. That fleabag had crossed the border!

He'd been a heartbeat away from tackling the attacking warrior into the ground when he held himself back, eyes flashing toward the WindClan patrol on the other side. "Shred him for me!" he shouted. There was enough WindClan to go around for both of them, and he wanted his own share. They wouldn't forget this, just like they hadn't forgotten Shellpaw's attack. RiverClan would send them all running to whatever fox den they came from.

Without a second thought, Sleetpaw shot forward, tail streaking behind him, and hurtled over the gap, claws scrabbling as he landed on the opposite ledge. Just barely. It didn't register in his head that he'd been a missed pawstep away from falling to his death; his eyes were focused on the cat his age just in front of him. With a wild purr, he leapt into the mass of WindClan warriors, slamming the ginger she-cat to the earth and pinning her under a heavy paw. "Did your mentors not teach you about borders in your Clan?" he hissed, his voice dripping with mockery.

Sleetpaw used 'Leap-and-Hold' on Starlingpaw.

Fallowpaw was horrified. Whilst the cats were enthralled in battle, she let out a pitiful yelp and got to her paws. Knowing she needed to do something, the fur on the back of her neck stood up. "Huh," she said, scowling. "I thought you knew better." Fallowpaw's face pulled into a mocking grin, easily identified as sarcastic, but she did nothing but tease the WindClan patrol. From her emanated the smell of fear, and her crystal blue eyes were wide. Her paws lifted to step backwards, but she knew she was in trouble. Just from the look of things. Drowning in her own horror, she got distracted, swallowed up by an ocean of rage. "You should know better!" Fallowpaw howled angrily in protest, but didn't make a move. She felt stiff - rooted to her spot.

Frogpaw was crushed underneath Smokepelt's sheer weight, his brown-striped paws slipping and twisting under the force. The deputy was clearly far more skilled than him and stronger in every way, it was like a mouse fighting a dog for it's life. Luckily, Smokepelt was quick to release him but the damage was done. He felt an ache in his joints and the tom couldn't bring himself to rise up for a strike.

So he did the only thing that he had the strength to do. He ran blindly, and threw himself against the deputy with his teeth bared and claws outstretched. "Eat dirt, hare-dung!"

Frogpaw used Run and Tackle. No bonus damage as Smokepelt was focused on him.

"Bold words, for a timid mouse." Kestrelpaw replied to Fallowpaw, the she-cat was hesitant to try make the jump, but seeing a RiverClan apprentice try tackle a deputy, she could hardly lose out to a fish-faced cat. Her sister, Starlingpaw was engaged in battle with some dirty RiverClanner so it was up to her to show their new clan their courage and usefulness. Tensing up, she pressed her belly against the dirty before racing and crossing the gorge in one leap. Her hind legs didn't quite make the landing, but her teeth clamped on a root to help herself up.

Then before anyone could do anything, she raced over to Fallowpaw to smash her paw across her face. "Fight me, if you have any courage, Kit." Her words were interjected with harsh pants from the adrenaline surge she got crossing the gorge, but it was still audible.

Robinpaws eyes locked with Fallowpaw's and let out a loud yowl "So are you just going to stand there like a scared kit or are you actually going to fight!" Robinpaw's back arched and she started to run right at Fallowpaw, for a split second she forgot about the gorge as the world moved fast around her. She just about made it across when she attempted to jump the distance to the other side. Almost slipping she managed to pull herself up but needed a moment to recuperate her breathing slightly heavy, she was not focused.

As the apprentice rushed towards him, Smokepelt stood his ground although the wind was still knocked out of him. "In your dreams!" He chuckled through gasping for air. Geez, RiverClan cats sure had thick sculls. Shaking the smaller cat off of him, the deputy took a second to regain his balance. He'd teach this lowlife fish eating scum a lesson once and for all! Anger blinding his senses, Smokepelt took a few steps towards the dazed apprentice and reared up on his hind legs. This is for WindClan!

Using all his strength, he brought down his front paws onto his opponents head, smashing the apprentice's skull onto the pebble covered ground bellow. The sound of crack rung in the deputy's ears and he knew that what ever damage he'd done, it was probably pretty serious.

Smokepelt used Upright Lock, causing 17 damage and costing 25 stamina. Frogpaw is KOed.

Backing away from the apprentice, Smokepelt glanced around to the fighting cats. "This is what happens when you mess with WindClan!" the tom yowled into the open air. Turning around, he got a running start and jumped across the gorge with ease, although upon landing, a sharp pain shot up his side from where the apprentice had rammed into him. Looking to the opposite side of the ravine, his eyes burned with fire.

Did he feel bad about hurting that apprentice? Yes, yes he did. But they needed to get it through their thick skulls that WindClan was a force to be reckoned with. Looking around, some cats were still battling, but his job here was done. "WindClan! Finish showing these cowards what it means to threaten us and let's go!" the usually soft voiced cat boomed just loud enough so the screeches and cries wouldn't drown him out.

Staying where he stood, Smokepelt held his head and tail held high. Of course there was a bit of guilt tugging at his pelt, but he pushed it to the side. They deserved it.

Despite the deputy's attempt to blow off the impact of his move, Frogpaw smirked with pride at how winded he sounded. When he was thrown back, he braced himself and landed on his feet, still steady and all too smug where he stood. He was prepared for the sudden blow to the head, vicious and brutal, without a hint of a thought for the fact he was just an apprentice.

The blow didn't even register at first, his ears ringing with the audible crack of his skull. His green eyes looked off into the distance, stumped at what just happened. The pain didn't register until a trickle of blood oozed out of tore ligaments and shattered bones. Blood drooling out of his mouth, a horrible wail started in his throat.

Frogpaw screamed.

Every wave of sound hurt his jaw even more with it's vibrations but he couldn't stop. The apprentice had never felt this sort of pain before in his life, pain that made him forget all dignity or pride. His paws randomly flailed as he tried to uselessly bat at his own jaw to ease the pain. It was illogical but everything hurt so much and he didn't know what to do except hit and scream.

"Fishstar! Fishstar!" He howled through the garbled screams, begging for his mother to come soothe his wounds.

He'd been too absorbed in the WindClan apprentice underneath his claws to focus too much on Frogpaw, or any of the others. Sleetpaw heard the yowls, the cries, the taunts, but they all went in one ear and out the other without clinging on to their meaning. It wasn't until he heard a sickening smack and the gray WindClan patrol leader's victory yowls that his concentration shattered.

"Fishstar!" Sleetpaw ripped his gaze away, shoving away from the ginger WindClan she-cat, eyes wide as Frogpaw's pained cries rang in his ears. "Fishstar!"

His muzzle was washed in blood, and his jaw jutted out at an awkward, unnatural angle. "Frogpaw..." he muttered, his voice barely a whisper as he stumbled toward the edge of the gorge. "Frogpaw!" he shouted. Sleetpaw's eyes flashed toward the WindClan warrior who'd done it, his eyes burning. It took all he had not to lunge at him and rip his throat out where he stood. "You're dead!" he screamed, voice strained, sweeping his gaze over the entire WindClan patrol. The hate exploded in his chest. "All of you are dead!"

This was just like what'd happened to Shellpaw, except this time he could've been there to stop it. And he hadn't. Sleetpaw looked from WindClan, to Frogpaw, to WindClan again, before leaping to RiverClan's side of the border. "Frogpaw, come on..." he quavered, but he wasn't even sure if he could hear him through the screams. "We have to go... Cloudstone will..." He couldn't even finish. His paws felt numb as he grabbed him by the scruff, with one last fiery glare at the WindClan patrol, and dragged his writhing clanmate away, tail dragging behind him.

“Y-You fox-hearted cat!!!” Sootwhisper ran towards the screaming apprentice, the usually neutral expression of the black and white tom getting replaced by a frown as he witnessed the damage done to the apprentice “How can you do this to a mere apprentice!” He would’ve thought of it as an accident if he had injured a warrior, as most warriors used to think that the other was at the same level as them, but this…this was plain cruelty! Any warrior with half a brain would know better than going all out on an apprentice unless their intention is to cause severe damage or even kill them.

He lowered his ears, he wasn’t sure of how bad the damage to Frogpaw’s jaw had been, but he could tell it was serious enough “This won’t stay like this, you know?! When Fishstar finds out the WindClan deputy did this to one of our apprentices, who also is her own son, there will be consequences!” He hissed, his voice no longer being a mere whisper like it used to be and his usual calm behavior completely lost. He then turned towards the rest of the RiverClan patrol “Frogpaw needs urgent attention from the Medicine cat, we need to go back to camp!” His attention soon landed on Sleetpaw, stopping him “I’ll carry him, we need someone agile and fast on their paws, you think you can reach camp and tell Cloudstone about this before we get there so he can be treated immediately? If possible inform Fishstar too” He trusted that the apprentice would be determined enough to give it his all to reach camp before any of them and tell Cloudstone and Fishstar what had happened if he was willing to drag him all the way on his own like he was trying to do right at that time. His voice was unusually stern and serious as he tried to control his rage.

Fallowpaw reeled back, gritting her teeth as the searing pain flared over her muzzle. She growled and narrowed her eyes at Smokepelt. "You... you are the coward. You never let him do anything!" Fallowpaw hissed. Her pain was nothing compared to the other apprentice's. She stepped back, shaking.
