Frozenflame's Elder Ceremony

What a sad day this was. Darkstar looked up at the sky while outside her den, watching the stars appear as the sun dipped lower and lower until it just grazed the horizon. The moon was nothing but a claw-scratch in the sky. Tonight her deputy and friend would be becoming an elder. The dark-furred she-cat leaped up onto her perch and called out. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the Highrock for a clan meeting."

Blizzardshine walked towards Darkstar and looked at her, sitting with the gathering cats and waiting to hear what new she had for them. As far as she knew there were no kits ready to become apprentices nor apprentices ready to become warrior in that specific day, then again she could be wrong. She just hoped that it didn’t had anything to do with RiverClan being temporarily using the Sunningrocks as their camp, as most cats that patrolled that border had noticed recently. They had a hard enough time with the flood that forced them to leave their original camp and took away many of their clanmates, they deserved a rest.

Mothpaw padded over and sat down.

Lightningpaw padded over and sat down next to Mothpaw.

Blazepaw padded over and down next to Lightningpaw and Mothpaw.

Blacktwig had decided to attend the ceremony. It seemed sorrowful, but this seemed important. The somewhat ragged-furred speckled tom sat down. His azure oculars were wide with suspense.

Pinewhisker jlined his friend quietly, wondering how his mentor's elder ceremony would go. The tom didn't feel any affection towards the cat, but it was decisive time for the clan, and he was to attend.

Blacktwig looked at Pinewhisker with a sidelong glance. It seemed denying, but it was truthful. He gave his friend a light, half-hearted nudge, and sighed. "You know what this is, don't you?" The tomcat asked. The mood could almost be felt on your pelt and hung in the dry, tasteless air.

Mosswing frowned as she took a seat next to Blacktwig. She'd never known the deputy well, but it was clearly an important time for the clan. And besides, her heart still panged with sadness for Frozenflame. "I know what this is," she said, leaning in on the conversation.

Blacktwig stared ahead for a moment, but then jerked his head to see Mosswing in a sort of gullible fashion. He would've grinned and blushed wildly in any other situation where he failed to notice another clanmate, but this time was different. He nodded solemnly. "Yes. And it is a sorrowful time for all, but he deserves his rest," Blacktwig meowed.

Pinewhisker nodded to the two cats, his face set. "I wonder who shall take is place." he spome. He didn't particulary strive to be a leader, but he knew the deputy position was important for the clan neverless, and Darkstar would be forced to give her old friend's place to someone else in the end.

So many things changed.

Blacktwig narrowed his eyes towards the tomcat, tail lashing a bit. He kept his voice quiet as he mumbled to himself, then raised it to a half-whisper afterwards. "We are here to honour the retirement of Frozenflame, Pinewhisker," he told the younger warrior. "I do believe the time will come soon, but not now." Blacktwig turned to face Darkstar again, her bittersweet expression plaguing her once bright, dark chocolate face.
