The thought of the Shadowclan leader passing suddenly upset her. It would be too strange to have such a big change like that, even if it wasn't her clan. She didn't want anyone to feel that kind of pain of losing a leader. In all actuality, trying to think of living in a clan without Crowstar was too painful on its own, yet the medicine cat apprentice knew that he was running into some difficult times himself. "I'm sorry..." she muttered apologetically. "That shouldn't have been something I brought up..." her voice trailed off as she looked straight ahead, not wanting the tom to see the pain in her eyes as she tried to shake off the terrible thoughts running through her mind. When she was finally able to escape them, everything about her perked up optimistically. "Well, I hope that he gets better! And I hope that Shadowclan prospers!" she purred, looking back at Mudfoot cheerfully.

"No, don't apologize," Mudfoot started softly, appreciating her apology although it wasn't needed. Every cat had a right to be curious about other clans. "Thank you, I'll be sure to pass on your words of hopefulness," he chuckled with a smile, looking to the she-cat. She was so cute and caring, the perfect candidate for a medicine cat, and he understood why SkyClan had chosen her to care for the injured and in need. "I know we've only just met, but I'm honestly glad we've met," Mudfoot blurted out, and winced in embarrassment. Great way to settle the mood.

The apprentice paused suddenly at the older tom's words. It was strange to hear that from a Shadowclan cat but it had honestly made all of her nerves disappear. There had been so many stories and rumors that she had heard about their neighboring clan, none of which involved them wanting to be caring by any means. Sure Skyclan and Shadowclan weren't exactly enemies but the marsh dwellers had always been so... strange. "O-Oh..." she muttered in sheer surprise. It almost felt like her heart was going to leap out of her chest. "Y-Yeah, me too! It's nice to have someone to talk to," she mewed.

Glad to hear that he wasn't a burden to her and her herb hunting, Mudfoot gave a simple nod and followed the apprentice. The two padded along side each other in silence for a while and he wondered when she was going to exclaim that they'd run across the herbs. Geez, being a medicine cat must be tough having to constantly look for tiny plants barely visible. How could she even tell what they looked like?

When it fell silent again, Rabbitpaw turned back around and continued her search of herbs. It was strange, but she did in fact already feel rather comfortable around this warrior. Was that a bad thing? Maybe she should bring it up with Crowstar... or maybe not. She didn't want to know how he would react. Almost half-dazed, however, the scent of what she was looking for quickly filled her nose. "Oh!" she gasped, looking down at where her paws stopped. Looking around, her eyes finally landed on her prize. "There it is! Chervil!" With an excited purr escaping her throat, she padded towards it and gently picked it with her teeth. The smell was strange but it was easy to discern from the others. Turning around, she faced Mudfoot again, her face beaming. "Her's Churvl!" she mewed through the herbs stuffed in her mouth. "Itn't it cool?"

After a few moments of walking in silence once more, the she-cat's excited outburst made him almost jump out of his fur. Heart beating fast, he let out a sigh, relieved to know that it was nothing he needed to be worried about. Watching as she walked over to the strong smelling green plant, Mudfoot tilted his head. This was the plant that did wonders? It certainly didn't look like much. Not wanting to ruin the moment, the tom leaned forward and sniffed the plant. "It's definitely easy to spot," he mewed with a smile, glad that she'd been able to find what she wanted. "What does it do again?" he felt bad for asking but from the time she'd told him to now, he'd forgotten.

"Oh hat'th eathy!" she purred through the leaves before realizing just how incoherent she sounded. With a chuckle, she spat it out, setting it gently on the ground in front of her paws. "That's easy!" she repeated. "Chervil is great for disinfecting wounds as leaves, and when it's chewed up, it gets rid of bellyaches!" she felt proud of herself for remembering that one. "So, if you ever have a bellyache, eat chervil! It will fix it right up... even if it tastes kinda... bad."

She definitely knew her stuff, which was technically normal for a medicine cat. "Well, big things come in small packages," he joked, leaning forward to take a closer look at the plant that laid on the ground. Wrinkling his nose, he had to admit, even it's smell wasn't very inviting. "Even just the smell is yucky. But I guess when a cat is screaming in pain from wounds it's better than nothing," the tom added with a smile, listening to her talk about a belly ache. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind. Besides, you never know when knowing something about herbs will come in handy."

"Yes!" Rabbitpaw squeaked like a kit, excited about how interested Mudfoot seemed to be about her life. There weren't many that were, especially in Skyclan, but he seemed to have a somewhat decent understanding of the hard work put into it. "Herbs will always come in handy! If you know what you are looking for, you can use them at any time!" She paused, thinking about something quickly before pushing the thought away. At first, she figured that she could try to teach him some of the things that she knew, but knowing that he was Shadowclan, it probably wasn't the greatest idea. But then again, she technically didn't belong to the clans, she belonged to Starclan. She was helping everyone with this knowledge. Maybe it was a good idea after all. Turning back to him with a bashful expression, she tried her best to keep herself composed. "Maybe... Maybe sometime I could teach you some more stuff about herbs? Just in case you get caught somewhere without help!" She offered.

"That's good to know," he chuckled at the thought of knowing about herbs. They'd come in handy but would he be able to remember the names and scents? Well, he'd work on that later. Seeing as the stars began to rise higher into the sky as it became darker, he remembered that he was supposed to lead a patrol and should probably get back to camp before everyone started waking up.

Looking from the sky back to Rabbitpaw, the warrior was going to say something but shut his mouth when the she-cat started speaking. She would really go out of her way to teach him? He'd never known SkyClan cats to be so generous, were they all like this?

Thinking about her offer for a few moments, he couldn't really say no and besides, what harm could come from getting some tips on how to heal? "I'd like that," Mudfoot replied with a soft smile and a purr emitted from deep within his throat. Although she was a member of another clan, that didn't mean that they couldn't be close friends if anything, right? Just as long as they didn't break the Warrior Code, though he doubted he'd ever have trouble with that.

"Well, I should get going," he meowed, standing up and giving his pelt a shake. "It was nice talking with you. I bet SkyClan will be the healthiest clan around during Leafbare with you as their medicine cat apprentice," he laughed, flicking his tail back and forth. She was so young and full of spirit, he wished all cats were like that, medicine cat or not.

"O-Oh, yeah!" she mewed, flattered at his compliment about her being a great medicine cat. It was all she could hope for. "Y-Yeah, I'll see you around! I'm, um... I'm sorry that I kept you out. Thank you for keeping me company!" With a beaming face, the medicine cat apprentice dipped her head to the Shadowclan warrior, grabbed her stash of herbs and began walking back to camp. He was right about getting moving. It was getting dark and her clan needed her for final preparations before the day was over.

Content with how the evening had gone, Mudfoot let out a happy sigh and turned around, yet kept his gaze on the she-cat who now walked back towards camp. But then it hit him, what in StarClan's name was he doing just standing here and gawking? He couldn't just go back to camp and forget about all of this, could he?

"It was nice meeting you! I hope we see each other again!" he called, praying that it wasn't only him who wanted to meet again. Being the SkyClan medicine cat apprentice, he knew that they weren't ever going to be able to have a "relationship" (what ever that meant) and he fully understood that, being completely loyal to his clan as well. But that didn't mean that they couldn't be friends, right? It wouldn't hurt any cat if they simply talked, right? Besides, it wasn't like he would ever want to deceive his clan, especially Leopardfang, so just friends sounded good in his mind.

I just hope it's good in her mind... Flicking his tail back and forth, the warrior turned towards the camp and headed back, a warm bubbly feeling stuck in his chest even through a cold, harsh breeze that practically smacked him in the face. Today he'd made a new friend even though she was from another clan and hoped that he would be able to see her again.
