Skeptical Thoughts (Open)

Blacktwig paced outside of the warriors' den. It was quite late. He gave a stoic and phlegmatic glance up, looking only slightly crazed. Tired and confused, the warrior thought about the disappearance of several cats. It won't be long before I'm taken, too, he thought, shaking as he was consumed in terror. Resentful hatred burned in his hearth, more thoughts flooding his mind. Those Twolegs! Blacktwig mentally hissed, paws kneading the ground angrily. He searched for any source of life in this dull place, his strange, remorseful state of mind. Blacktwig's senses was alert for any scent of Twolegs, but it never came. He was feeling himself weaken with fatigue. Maybe he should just go to sleep...

Amberpaw peeked out of the apprentices' den, den she knew she will soon leave to join the warriors, and looked out at Blacktwig, her head turning slightly as she watched him, puzzled. The she-cat spilled out of the den, a mass of sleek brown fur, approaching the apprentice with shining eyes, worried. "Are you alright, Blacktwig?" she mewed quietly, setting her tail tip on his shoulder. The warrior needed someone to talk to, that was for sure, since he looked stressed out.

She might have once had a little crush on the tomcat, maybe for just a few moons, but seeing him and Mosspaw had drowned down the feeling. She was better for him, that was for sure. She needed to sort stuff out with Pinepaw, before anything else, but he kept leaving. And Sheeppaw was leaving a lot, too. The she-cat might just have giggled.

Sparrowkit was wise. Young and wise. She watched from the nursery as Blacktwig sat, she could feel he was lonely, she could feel he was scared. The she-cat walked as she saw Amberpaw come over to Blactwig, slowly turning she watched, she wanted questions to be asked so she could study a bit more about how he felt. It wasn't like she didn't feel just like him. She was lonely to, feeling like she was the last of her own kind, but that wasn't true.

Blacktwig's ears perked at the sound of the she-cat's reassuring voice. He nearly tripped over his paws as he turned around, eyes as wide as teal moons. "Ah, yes," he lied, blushing slightly. The tomcat's ears clearly drooped with guilt, however, and he beckoned Amberpaw to a tree looming at the side of the apprentices' den. "Uh, well, I'm not," he admitted, before he could start anything that might hurt their relationship with each other.

Cloverpool padded out of the elder's den and saw her great great grandson and her adopted daughter. Blacktwig looked anxious. The elder padded over with a purr and soothingly licked her grandson on the ear. "Hello Amberpaw, hello Blacktwig. Blacktwig, what's got you so anxious dear?"

"Cats have been going missing," Blacktwig explained, shifting nervously. He blinked, his gaze turning to the ground. In the corner of his eye, he noticed Sparrowkit, one of Halfpaw's littermates. He gave a brief nod to her, to acknowledge the tabbied she-cat. He resumed his words. "It's the Twolegs," he hissed, turning to face the two, so that both sides of his face was showing, illuminated by turquoise light.

Amberpaw smiled softly as her adoptive mother joined them, purring in greeting as she curled down besides the warrior, her muzzle resting on her paws. "It's okay." she reassured the tom by passing her tail over his back, even if she was not entirely sure it was okay.

"It is?" Blacktwig asked, voice shaky, as if he were about to crack at any moment. Yet instead of doing so, he let out a long sigh. "I-I guess so," he said uncertainly. His fury towards the Twolegs, however, ceased to waver. His fur still bristled, and his gaze kept darting around.

Cloverpool's expression hardened. "Twolegs.. Yes I understand. Long ago, when both my very first two children were alive and a little bit ways into their warrior stages, I was taken by twolegs as well. I returned several moons later with my sister Cucumberpaw who had originally been Creamkit. But my parents only left me behind for Thunderclan when I was a kit but that's alright." She meowed flicking her tail and sitting down.

Amberpaw listened to her mother and a chill crept into her. Was she going to be taken by the Two-legs as well? She hoped not. her gaze travelled until it rested on young Sparrowkit, a little way further. "Sparrowkit, why are you up so late?" she asked, but flicked her tail, beckoning the kit to join them and not sit alone in the cold night. Brisk leaf-fall was already settling in the woods, and the nights became colder and colder.

Blacktwig's gaze seemed mingled with anxiety and awe at Cloverpool's words. In a desperate attempt to switch the topic from Twolegs, those terrible hairless monsters, he spoke. "If I were alive to see it, I..." He trailed off, unsheathing his claws. He was having no luck in swapping the source of the conversation out, and the fire only grew. His fur lay flat, yet it seemed to take a great amount of effort to do so. He heard Amberpaw's voice, and nodded.

Sparrowkit looked at Amberpaw "I'm playing with someone" she mewed quietly "I would like to stay here please" she mewed "I'm having fun, I might be able to help though" she mewed.

"With the matter of twolegs they are very dangerous. If any of you see them do not engage them run away and hide get as far away as possible. They will take you away yes, but then you will have to go to the cutter, thankfully they didn't do any of that stuff to me." She meowed.

"Why do they take you to the Cutter as soon as they take you?" Blacktwig asked fearfully. He felt like cowering back, shrinking in his spot at the mention of that horrendous name. It sounded like the most terrifying cat in the forest - but it wasn't a cat. It was another Twoleg.

Amberpaw opened her mouth slightly at the kit's words. Well, that was how people viewed Pinepaw when he was a kit? "Right..." she mewed as she returned her attention to Cloverpool. "And what does the cutter do?" she whispered, a bit scared.
