Mousekit, Hawkkit, and Hailkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old... enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock... for a clan meeting!" Thrushstar yowled.

Hailkit smirked as she trotted up to the rock where Thrushstar stood. Her head was high. Finally, she had something to brag about to the other kits! She wondered exactly why Grandpa wasn't doing the ceremonies anymore... Maybe one of the warriors would explain. A bunch of older cats had joined the clan, and as far as she could tell, they had been in ShadowClan before. She noticed the one with the big scar the most. She reminded him of her dad, but more... bouncy.

The kit's tail wiggled as she stopped at Jaggedrock.

Littlebrook purred softly as she followed her daughter out of the nursery and over to jaggedrock. She sat down near her and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws. Her deep blue eyes gleamed proudly as she waited for her daughter to become an apprentice.

Tigerstorm herded her kits out to sit in the clearing, trading a knowing glance with Littlebrook. But looking at her kits didn't really give her the same sense of pride that the other queen seemed to be radiating. The tabby she-cat instead sat behind her litter, looking up to Thrushstar with blank green eyes. She would be glad to finally sleep alone.

Mousekit squirmed at the sight of the new leader. He liked his uncle Webtail a lot more than this stranger. He was nicer. And didn't have a weird scar on his chest and was easier to understand when he talked. The tomkit looked up and back at his mother, but she wouldn't look at him. His green eyes flashed in annoyance and he glanced back at Thrushstar.

Lightningstrike sat next to his mate, his eyes narrowed in a glare at Thrushstar. He wanted this to be something he was happy about. His own daughter was becoming an, apprentice but, under StarClan. He had to keep himself grounded with his claws hooked in the mud. Occasionally looking to Hailkit and allowing his scowl to fade. It didn't last long though, Thrushstar's form was still on Jaggedrock. His daughter was about to pledge to StarClan with her life. He was rather glad that his kits would be apprenticed. Ferretshine would be in the nursery now with her kit. He assumed at least. He wouldn't sleep easy with her in the nursery so near to his kits. He'd stay silent if it meant seeing his kits, without them, he'd be far from ShadowClan now, searching for any sign of the former powers over the forest.

Hawkkit sat quietly next to her mother. She was tall, awkward, and her paws were way too big for her body. Her dark tabby pelt, still plagued with kitten fluff gleamed in the light. Tigerstorm had explained that Thrushstar was back for the same reason her father had left her mom, brother, and herself. Tigerstorm had explained that Kestrelstorm was WindClan and not a real ShadowClan cat. What did that make her? Did she deserve to be a ShadowClan apprentice being half WindClan? She had the build of a WindClan cat; a build like her father's an elder told her. Would she be a good ShadowClan cat? Slumping down, the female kept her blue eyes to her feet.

Littlebrook looked over and smiled as Lightningstrike joined her, but her smile faltered for a split second as she noticed his scowl. She followed his eyes to Thrushstar and realized what he seemed angry about. Her eyes held a sad look for a moment and she gave a small sigh. She loved him no matter his beliefs and that would never change, but it made her sad that he couldn't let others believe what they wanted without glaring daggers at them. Why she was an exception to this, she didn't know, but she was glad that she was. She leaned into him slightly to try and calm him down before looking back up at Thrushstar with a smile back on her muzzle.

"Tonight we gather to make these... kits apprentices," he said. "Hailkit, from now on until you... receive your warrior name, you will be known as Hailpaw. Your... mentor will be Wildfang. Mousekit, you are Mousepaw. Your mentor... will be Speckledberry. Hawkkit, you are now Hawkpaw. Your mentor will be Littlebrook. May your... mentors teach you everything that... they know." With that, he leaped off the rock and went back into his den.
