A night alone [Birth Topic]

Curled up in the leader's den, Saltpelt mewled miserably to herself in agony as she went through labor pains. Within her was great aching as her belly pulsed with each movement, slowly but surely, she felt the need to push. The white tabby was scared of many things, the fact she had no one, the fact that both Medicine cats of WindClan loathed her and she felt she couldn't trust them. But her kits had to born, so she relaxed in her moss bed and clawed at the earth in agony as one little kit was born.

She twisted carefully, trying not to injure herself further as she nipped the sac to the kit and licked vigorously. It was a little calico tabby with white, ginger and brown splotches. She was beautiful. Like little embers upon a branch in winter. "Emberkit..." She said automatically. "My little Emberkit, hello."

The calico kit named Emberkit squirmed as she was named by her mother, she squealed as she looked for food. Soon feeling a warm stomach she slowly made herself comfortable and began to suckle, she heard as her mother named her. She thought to herself about the name, Emberkit.

Another ripple of pain rolled through her, Saltpelt hissed through clenched teeth to avoid startling little Emberkit as she pushed out another little kit. Carefully, she twisted over the already born kit to not dislodge her from suckling as she brought the newborn kit over to her front. She nipped the sac carefully, licking the little tabby and brought her to her belly. "Heatherkit." Saltpelt purred, this little she-cat had a sort of gentle beauty to her that reminding her of the wild heather that grew in the meadows.

Whilst the moors were an inhospitable place to her now, but her kits would be loved. Beautiful they both were. No one could hate them.

The small, silvery tabby let out a soft mew as she was pushed into the world, contempt with her new name. She began to suckle quietly. She made herself comfortable in her mother's fur, alongside her calico sister. The scent of the comfortable den, her mother and her sister were the only things she knew - and at this point in her short life, the world seemed like a place of bliss. Heatherkit, she thought. That's...my name. She couldn't deny she rather liked it.
