Do I stay or go?

Ok, random question; I'm somewhat new to this website, (I've roleplayed before of course, and have my Warrior Cat facts down) but I'm somewhat confused on this SiteWide Plot thing. From my understanding...the Dark Forest has taken over the clans and any cat who didn't swear their loyalty to them was exiled. I've made a character, and am waiting to get him approved. Should I have him start in Windclan, (DF Windclan of course) or should his first post be as an exile?

All new creations stat out as kits, and kits can't really leave the clans on their own, so they will stay. Since they won't know what StarClan is, they can't believe in it. However, the loophole to this is that they can grow up not really agreeing with the way the Dark Forest operates. The staff said the plot will probably end this month so it's not too long term. There are kits being born into exile (like my char's litter, but her's is full) but those parents come in short supply.
