Beettlekit and Bristlekit's Apprentice Ceremonies

Flashstorm padded over to the Tallrock and jumped onto it. The tom looked around for a moment.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" Flashstorm yowled.

Bristlekit zipped out of the nursery and skidded to a stop before Tallrock at the deputy's call. She stared up eagerly at the tom, excitement coiling in her body. Oh boy, oh boy, this was it! She was gonna become an apprentice!

Beetlekit's forest-green eyes narrowed as he contemplated whether or not he should attend the meeting. He hated the leaders who were out there, sitting on the Tallrock as if it was theirs to rule ... but at the same time, it was best not to anger them. His eyes loosened up from their snake-like slits, and he groggily wobbled out of the nursery like a clumsy badger, having just awoken from a nap.

He licked down the fuzzy patches of his fur as he sat down beside Bristlekit. He wrapped his slightly kinked tail around himself, staring at the ground with his back straight and his shoulders rolled rearward, like a lion. The tom's ears were perked up as he awaited their oh-so-precious rulers to begin.

Flashstorm flicked his tail proudly.
"Beetlekit, Bristlekit, please step foreard," Flashstorm called out.

Bristlekit's ears twitched up when she saw what Beetlekit was doing. Of course, she had to look her best for this! She hastily began to lap at some patches of fur, but she didn't do herself much good in her haste. She didn't have time to correct it or even notice, though, for Flashstorm soon called the two kits' names, bidding them step forward. Bristlekit did so without hesitation, her posture eager. She glanced over at Beetlekit and noticed the way he stared at the ground.

"Are you nervous?" she asked in a low voice.
