Morningkit and Stormkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The territory was new to Treestep, as she lept on to the highrock her voice echoed across the camp "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather here for a clan meeting!" She never imagined to say these words, her heart filled with pride and power.

Morningkit was confused. She always would hear Nightstar call out those words when she was playing around with her littermates, but now it was a total stranger. Even though she had tried to groom her own pelt, some tufts stuck out sloppily. She padded over to where the warriors were gathering to listen.
"Is this my apprentice ceremony?" She asked herself.
With glee, she realized it was. She was determined to be the best their ever was, and beat out all of the apprentices, in everything. After all, what's the point in doing something if it's not done to the best ability?

Scorchfrost licked his two kits over as they passed. He was proud of them, but... He sighed. Pepper wouldn't be here to see it. Morningkit was turning out to be a beautiful she-cat, and Stormkit reminded him very much of himself. He sat quietly.

Blizzardpaw smiled as she looked at the two kits that soon would share the apprentice’s den with her, sitting next to Scorchfrost to see their ceremony “Time surely flies, eh?” She couldn’t help but wonder how they would grow up to be like. She hoped to be able to train and go on a patrol or two with them, maybe she could give them some advice or share stories with them as well.

Stormkit's smile grew wider and wider. He would finally be an apprentice! After moons of just sitting around in the nursery waiting for his time to come, it had finally arrived. He purred sitting beside his sister, Morningkit.
He did wonder where Nightstar was, but as long as he was becoming an apprentice, it would be fine with him!
This is great! Now I can hunt all day and fight bad guys!

"Morningkit and Stormkit, please step forward." Treestep called when she saw the two kits down bellow.

Morningkit practically bounded forwards, but when she stopped in front of Treestep she silently reminded herself that this was her apprentice ceremony, and no apprentices would want to befriend an apprentice who's practically still a kit! This was so exciting for her, being able to hunt with her littermates, patrol borders together, and even fight off rival Clans! She smiled brightly at the thought, but all the while, her gaze stayed on Tree step.

Gentlenose joined the ceremony a bit late, taking a seat next to her daughter. "It seems like just yesterday you and Sedgewhisker were little kits in the barn and I was out training with Scorchfrost... Time sure flies by... doesn't it?" she sighed, watching two of Scorchfrost's kits become apprentices. "Before you know it, I'll be a grandmother! Won't that be a sight to behold..." she purred.

Late for the ceremony as well Sedgewhisker sat next to Scorchfrost and smiled at his mentor "Six moons eh?" he murmured.

Scorchfrost nodded quietly, sighing in relief. It had been hard without Pepper... He looked at Gentlenose, Morningkit, Stormkit, Sedgefrost, and Blizzardpaw. He was wrong to think he had no family left when they were all beside him. He looked at the small to-be-apprentices, wondering what happened to the bundles of fluff curling up against his mate.

"Morningkit you will now be Morningpaw and your mentor will be Gentlenose, and Stormkit you will now be Stormpaw and your mentor will be Scortchfrost. You shall train under the Dark Forest and become strong warriors in time." Treepelt announced to them all, adding her own spice to the traditional ceremony.

Gentlenose bent down to touch noses with Morningpaw. "It's an honor to be your mentor," she purred.
