So Much To Do, So Little Time To Do It

Deep in the heart of the WindClan camp, a young tom-kit lay in a nest alone. His fur was white, covered in inky black splotches. An ear twitched, and soon after that, radiant blue eyes opened slowly, blinking out the harsh sunlight. Yawning, Flarekit stood up and arched his back, pushing his tiny legs out in front of him and kneading the moor with his claws. Purring, the kit padded out of the nursery with his head tilted. There were so many cats out in the open! He made a point to meet them, but first he had to explore - take that back, eat! A delicious, warm scent floated through the light breeze, stealing his attention. He followed the scent as much as he could, spotting the fresh-kill pile. Toward the bottom, there was a plump but small hare. Flarekit trotted toward it, latching his sharp kitten teeth into its warm fur. He attempted to drag the creature backwards, which was difficult, as it was bigger than the kit. Flarekit was concentrating on not falling backward, which meant that he couldn't hear a cat approaching him. The other cat spoke, startling him. The tom whipped around, eyes wide. He relaxed when he realized it was one of his Clanmates.

"Isn't that a bit big for you to eat yourself?" Palefoot purred with a smile as he looked down at Flarekit and the rabbit. He flicked his tail in greeting and with an amused look on his face, he grabbed the rabbit and placed it closer to the center of camp. "We can share it," he suggested.

Flarekit purred happily, smiling at Palefoot. He nodded, content with the idea. "That would probably be a good idea, to share it," the kit meowed playfully, settling down by his new friend and the rabbit.

"Cool," the warrior responded with a smile and a flick of his ears. He ripped the rabbit in half, giving the kit the smaller piece. That'd be enough for him, I'd bet. Best I check, though "That's enough for you, yeah?" he inquired.

"Yup!" Flarekit confirmed, tilting his head and stealing small glimpses at the delicious rabbit. Suddenly feeling a flash of embarrassment, the kit felt his face grow warm. I don't even know this cat's name, and he's my Clanmate. Oh well, I'm probably not the only kit that can't memorize his campmates' names... I hope. Hoping he wouldn't give his thoughts away through his expression, he tried to keep his face from curling into a small, worried frown. Every once and a while, though, he would look away to keep from giving his secret away. Settling onto his belly, he took a small bite of the animal. He was just weaned, so the texture was still a bit unusual for him. However, the flavor made up for it. Remembering his manners just in time, he smiled. "Thank you for the rabbit." Figuring that this would be a good time to ask the cat's name, he took a small breath. "I'm sorry, I can't recall your name... I'm Flarekit, by the way,"

"You're welcome. I'm Palefoot, it's fine. Nice to meet you officially, I've heard nothing but good words from your nursery-mates." He purred. Yeah, that was a lie, he hadn't heard a word, but the kit seemed well-mannered and pretty well-adjusted.

Flarekit felt himself relax, and smiled up at the tom. He had heard good things about the kit, from other kits? His heart lifted, and a small purr rumbled quietly from deep in his chest.

Palefoot nudged the little one with hs tail. "So, what d'you like to do?" He asked as he finished up another bite.

The kit thought for a moment before replying. His face was completely serious. "I enjoy 'hunting' and playing games, even though I just play with myself. I watched some of the other kits practice fighting moves, but I don't like them very much," Flarekit confessed.
