A Squirrel's Heart Breaks (Death Topic)

Squirrelpaw was laying sick in the corner of the barn where Dreamleaf and Stonepaw kept their nest and supplies. Over the past few weeks Squirrelpaw has had no recovery in her strange illness. It started off as just the occasional cough and slight intolerance to exercise, nothing weird or abnormal when a cat has a slight sickness. She was given herbs to treat it, but they didn't help. Her coughing got worse and her breathing labored. Her intolerance towards exercise got worse until she could barely move from her nest to drink or eat. A few days ago her heartbeat began to get more rapid and she could feel every one in her chest.

Squirrelpaw closed her eyes as she prepared to sleep through the night, but she failed to move her paws under her chin. Speaking of it, she was loosing feeling in almost of her limbs. Her stomach churned and her head throbbed until it all seemed to slowly fade and all she could see was a bright light. She gasped her last breath and let out one final word, "Goodbye....".

OOC: It called "A Squirrel's Heart Breaks" because these are all symptoms of heartworms. ;)

"Squirrelpaw?" Tulipheart heard her coughing "Squirrelpaw!" She said as she saw her apprentice become life-less

Squirrelpaw saw her mentor's face fade along with everything else around her. "G-goodbye..." she mewed in quietly this time.

Sedgepaw heard Tulipheart yowl Squirrelpaw, he ran over, seeing her almost dead scared him, though he knew he was already dead, he looked at her, his face sad and his eyes watery, slowly, tears spilled out "Squirrelpaw!" he rushed over and sat next to Tulipheart, grief filling him.

Gentlenose padded over to the cats, a wave of sadness washing over her as she saw Squirrelpaw's limp frame. "Oh Sedgepaw..." she whispered, pressing into her son and curling her tail around him. She knew how much Squirrelpaw had meant to him, it was a shame she had to die so young...

Dreamlead raced over and froze in place. The medicine cat's body went completely rigid. Her second patient she'd let die under her care. Wasn't a medicine cat supposed to save cats? Dreamleaf crouched down and listened for a beat. When she felt nor heard any, Dreamleaf laid down and closed her eyes. The calico' shoulders trembled but she got up and and turned to the other cats.
"She is now in the laws of Starclan," Dreamleaf whispered with a fragile voice. It wasn't a big surpromise that Dreamleaf still believed that Starclan would help them and still guide lost souls to their home.
