Big, Wide World

On teetering legs, Juncokit squirmed out of a pile of hay, plopping down on the dusty barn floor. He looked around, taking in the gaping wooden sky above him. Tottering forward, he peered out of the barn's mouth, and he sucked in a sharp breath at what he saw. Great, rolling hills tumbled out as far as he could see, seeming to swallow up the great blue sky. His amber eyes glittered with excitement and he let out a tiny squeak, his eager, oversized paws nearly sending him reeling onto the grass.

Miraclekit purred as she watched Juncokit, who was a few moons younger than herself. "Pretty cool, right?" She mewed, padding over to stand beside him, looking out at the land outside. "When you become an apprentice, you'll be able to go out there all the time." She mewed happily, "I can't wait!"
