A Tour of the Territory (Open to any SC apprentices)

Viperfang walked into the apprentice's den not long after the dawn patrol left. "Rainpaw! We're going on patrol! You can bring anyone else if you'd like! I'll be at the entrance waiting!" she yowled. "And remember punctuality!" she hissed under her breath so that only Rainpaw could hear as she walked out of the den and towards the entrance.

OOC: That punctuality thing is going to become a joke now, isnt it? XD

Rainpaw hopped up at the sound of Viperfang's voice; her practically had a pavlovian response to it now, always ready to jump up and do as his mentor said. He was very obedient, even though it was more out of fear of ridicule than anything. He didn't really have any friends who were apprentices-- he never realy talked to the other cats, because he was so shy. His best friend, Frostedkit, would become an apprentice very soon, so he was eagerly awaiting that.
Because he didn't really talk to any of the other apprentices, he followed after his mentor without inviting any of them along, figuring that they would have heard Viperfang and would come along if they wanted, or get sent by their mentors. "Ready!" He mewed as he walked up to stand beside Viperfang.

Viperfang had barely sat down before her apprentice was ready. She almost purred at his obedience to her command. He's shaping up to be an obedient warrior! she thought with some slight self pride in mentoring him. "Just one moment, we have another apprentice joining us.." she mewed as Speckledpaw walked into the group.

Speckledpaw heard her mother's exclamation for a patrol. She hadn't been on a patrol all day, and she had always had her mothers need to help out her clan. So she padded over to the group.

OOC: Should we wait for some others to join?

Rainpaw looked over as Speckledpaw approached, his moment of confidence over. He was slowly getting used to Viperfang, and with her, could channel his anxiety into something productive by working extra hard to comply with her orders and do his best. With anyone else, though, he just became shy... Too shy to answer questions, too shy to demonstrate proper technique... He knew that he had to learn to go on patrols with other cats, but that didn't mean he had to be happy about it. "Oh. O-Okay." He mewed, glancing at the ground beside him instead of at Speckledpaw or Viperfang.

Lightningpaw had heard the yowl, almost launching out of the den in an attempt to silence it. He soon noticed his aunt and joined Rainpaw and Specklepaw. How else was ge going to catch up with Ferretshine?

"Hmph! I suppose this group will have to do!"she mewed as she headed out of camp.  " Speckledpaw, darling, make sure to keep up! Okay hun?" Viperfang mewed with worry.

Speckled paw nodded her head in reply as they headed out of camp.

Rainpaw kept quiet as the group headed out of camp-- he was very excited to have an official tour of their territory and its boundaries, but anxiety kept his mouth closed as they walked through the trees. He stuck close to Viperfang, as she was the only cat on the patrol he felt remotely comfortable with. He thought longingly of Frostedkit back at camp, wishing she was an apprentice right then.

Viperfang stopped as they approached the Thunderpath. It was dangerous to bring even the most knowledgeable apprentice near, let alone her precious daughter. The area was thick with monster stench, one must have passed by recently. Viperfang curled her lip at the stench. "This is the Thunderpath near the Windclan border," she began. "It's incredibly dangerous. The monsters that run on it never leave the path, but survival after a collision is incredibly rare, so make sure to keep your distance." she mewed sternly. "Across from it is Windclan territory. Those cat were recently, the aggressors of the forest. They once stole all of Skyclan territory and forced them to live with Riverclan. Those days are over though,  Skyclan has their territory back and Windclan has had new leader and deputy since then." she explained. I wonder what their next move will be... she thought silently as they padded to their next destination.

Speckledpaw flicked her tail as she heard the information once again regurgitated from her mother. She's already told me all of this... she thought with boredom.

Lightningpaw listened to Viperfang's lesson on clan news, the droning bored him. The tom wanted to hunt, chase something, fight! Not, listen to gossip like a queen in the nursery...

Rainpaw, unlike the other two apprentices, hadn't heard this before-- well, he had heard it around camp, but not in detail. "Wh-why'd they do that?" He asked curiously, "Don't they have plenty of territory of their own?" He tried to ask confidently, but his ears flattened against his head in fear, figuring that his two fellow apprentices would probably think him pretty mouse-brained for not already knowing.

Viperfang heard her apprentice's question. Honestly! Do you know nothing! she thought. "At that time, and probably still now, Windclan had twice the amount of cats that Skyclan had, maybe even more. They felt that they deserved more territory to live an hunt with..." she mewed as they headed to their next destination.

Viperfang walked parallel to the Thunderpath, only stopping when thick trees were visible on the other side. "On the other side of the path now is Thunderclan territory. What do you know of Thunderclan?" she asked as she turned to face the apprentices.

Speckledpaw followed closely and replied curtly when she heard her mother's question. "Good in undergrowth...".

Lightningpaw wrinkled his nose at the scent of the thunderpath, bathing his tongue in its foul stench. "They don't live in that territory anymore." He answered remembering the last gathering and how they had gotten worked up at the smallest mention of it. He chuckled at the though of so many cats getting offended so quickly. Lightningpaw narrowed his eyes as he tried to see through the heavy undergrowth on the other side.

OOC: I totally forgot about the takeover of TC territory. XD

IC: Finally! Someone knows something! she thought. "True, Riverclan and Skyclan became allies not long ago and took over their territory. Though I've heard that Thunderclan is living in an abandoned barn not far from here..." she mewed in explanation. "Some other things to know about Thunderclan is that they sometimes take in rogues, loners, or even kittypets to swell their ranks. Disgusting if you ask me! You should never trust anyone except yourself!" she mewed indignantly.

Speckledpaw listened to the already well-known  information as she followed the patrol down the border.

Rainpaw nodded slowly-- he didn't really agree with what Viperfang said, considering that his mother had been a rogue and he had been taken in by the clan when he was a kit. Did that mean that Viperfang thought he was disgusting? Was she rueful of being chosen as his mentor. He pondered this as they followed the border. "Why did Thunderclan get driven o-out?" He asked; of course, he had heard many times that they had been driven from their territory, but every cat seemed to think there was a different reason for it. Maybe his mentor knew.

Viperfang heard her apprentice's ridiculous question and folded her ears back as she replied, "Skyclan was angry at Thunderclan, so they teamed up with Riverclan who was planning on taking back sunningrocks anyways. They attacked and drove out Thunderclan. The end..." she mewed quickly as they headed to their next stop.

They headed straight along the Thunderpath until the scents across the border changed dramatically. "This is Skyclan territory. Its a lot like Thunderclan territory, but with more tall trees. Tell what you know of Skyclan.." she prompted as they continued to walk.
