Training for Speckledpaw [closed]

Mudfoot trotted over to the apprentice den and stuck his head in the entrance. "Speckledpaw, let's go on a patrol," he meowed softly, not wanting to wake the other apprentices. The tom was glad to have a new apprentice and couldn't wait to teach her all he knew. Stepping out of the entrance and sitting down, Mudfoot sat in silence, waiting for Speckledpaw.

Speckledpaw heard Mudfoot's voice and stretched before walking out of the apprentice's den and down towards him. "ready.." she mewed very quietly as per usual.

Giving his apprentice a nod, Mudfoot trotted towards the camp entrance, and soon, they were off. "I was thinking that we'd patrol the borders, some hunting practice, and maybe even some battle training," he meowed with a smile. Mudfoot hadn't really had a shy apprentice before, and realized this may be a totally different experience. "Unless you wanted to do something different?" Mudfoot added, reaching a border and marking it with his scent.

"That works..." she mewed as she marked a tree trunk only a few tail lengths away from Mudfoot.

Feeling a bit discouraged by her lack of enthusiasm, Mudfoot gave his pelt a shake. I'll still make this patrol fun. After marking the borders, he padded towards the thick forest in silence. Soon, he stopped and sat down, looking to Speckledpaw. "Okay, show me what you know about hunting." It may have seemed odd, not teaching his apprentice first, but this was his way assessing her and what he would need to teach her.

Speckledpaw nodded her head quickly before going into a crouch. She padded forward nearly silently, except for the sound of her tail swishing the ground behind her. She then pounced forward and landed on top of a fallen pine cone, before turning and looking back towards Mudfoot to wait for a response.

Mudfoot watched intently as his apprentice attempted a hunting crouch. She already had the jist of it, and he was easily impressed. "Very good! Just wake sure to keep your tail above the ground so it doesn't drag. Anything small has amazing hearing and will most likely feel the vibration of your excitement." He explained. "But other than that, I'm impressed." The tom said with a reassuring smile.

Speckledpaw listened intently to Mudfoot's response and purred while nodding as she turned around and spotted another pine cone. She went down into a crouch and stalked forward making sure to keep her tail straight and off of the ground. She quickly pounced onto the pine cone.

Mudfoot observed her improved hunting crouch. "It's definitely better than before," he commented. Standing up from the spot where he sat, Mudfoot gave his back legs a stretch. "Of course we have much to work on, but for now, let's do some real hunting." Sniffing the air, he scented prey and tilted his head towards a bush. "Let's see what you got," he meowed softly.
