Small Kitten, Big Curiosity (Open)

Blizzardkit knew that she almost reached the age needed to become an apprentice, but her curiosity was just way too big. She couldn’t wait any longer to walk out of the abandoned barn that had been her home since she was born and see what was outside.

Was it risky? Yes. Would her parents approve it? Probably not. Was she willing to try it even after knowing this? Absolutely yes!

Trying to be as silent as possible, the white kit did her best to sneak to the entrance of the barn unnoticed, this was one of those moments that she wished that her fur didn’t stood out so much against the other colors of the place and hiding between the hay wasn’t exactly easy. It tickled her nose and more than once she almost got caught thanks to a sneeze.

Once she no longer could keep hiding between the hay she decided to make a run for it. Maybe the rest of the clan would be too focused on their own activities to notice her and the barn’s entrance was only a couple of fox-lengths away, if she moved fast enough…

Plus, she wasn’t going to go too far, it would only be a quick peek…and maybe a bit of exploring the area surrounding the entrance of the barn. The clan wouldn’t even notice that she was gone before she was back at her mother’s side! With those thoughts on her head she started to run at full speed towards the entrance.

Dreamleaf sat a little ways away from the kits. She watched with gentle amber eyes and a big smile. She was aging quite fast now, but these kits seemed so timeless. It brought back memories of when Nightfire became her mentor. Nightfire... Dreamleaf sighed and looked down. She returned her soft eyes to the kits and watched with a new fascination. It was always enjoyable watching the kits play.

Thinstripe smiled as her kit played with Gentlenose's kit, Blizzardkit. She walked towards Dreamleaf "Hello Dreamleaf, how are you?"

Sedgekit ran through Thinstripe and Dreamleaf's paws, almost knocking them over. He tackled his sister Blizzardkit and looked at Vinekit as he pinned Blizzardkit down with his sheathed claws "Hey, you the new kit I heard of?" he asked with a smile.

Blizzardkit’s ears perked up when she heard the other kit’s voice, obviously not expecting anyone to notice her while trying to sneak out from the barn. She gave a quick glance towards Vinekit, well, at least it wasn’t an apprentice or a warrior trying to stop her, otherwise she knew that she probably would be taken back to her mother’s side and she would be in trouble for trying to do something as risky as this.

“Uh…hey” Blizzardkit slowed down just a bit, not wanting to trip and fall while trying to pay attention to the other kit. She guessed that Vinekit was new around, because she never had played with her before. As soon as she reaches the entrance she looks around again, hoping that no one else noticed what she was doing, clearly not knowing that Dreamleaf and Thinstripe were looking at them.

Her attention returned to Vinekit as soon as she noticed that no other cat was walking towards them, relaxing a bit “I think we hadn’t met before, I’m Blizzardkit! Mind if I ask your name?” She was itching to go outside, but she didn’t want to be rude. She let out a quick surprised yowl as soon as her brother tackled her and pinned her to the ground, not expecting it at all.

Gentlenose padded from her nest, approaching Thinstripe. "Another litter, huh? You've sure got your paws full," she purred, giving her old friend the brightest of smiles. She sat down next to the older she cat, watching the kits play and explore. "They're sure growing up fast..." she sighed wistfully. Soon her kits would be apprentices, and not long after that, warriors! It was hard to believe how fast time flied by.

Thinstripe nodded "Yes" she mewed "Scorchpaw will be a big brother" she purred happily "I'm just happy they are still kits" she added happily.

Lightkit watched the other kits play from a small rotted corner of the barn, pale blue eyes squinted in the bright light if the sun. As he heard chirping, he looked down at the hay around him, spotting a green cricket in the strands. The tom lost interest in the others as he started to creep towards it, clumsy kitten paws soft on the ground. His parents(NPCS) were off hunting, leaving him alone to entertain himself.

OOC: I am so sorry for not posting!!

IC: Dreamleaf smiled and padded over to Thinstripe. The Medicine Cat shook out her fur and watched the kits with warm amber eyes.

Blizzardkit pushed her brother off her with a smile before quickly following Vinekit, she was aware the now some full grown cats were looking at them, but they apparently had no intentions to stop them like she originally expected, so she decided to just go on with her small adventure.

She carefully peeked outside of the barn, the world outside was…huge! For the small kit that never had seen anywhere past the barn walls, this new world was strange and maybe even infinitely big. That, however, only made her curiosity grow a lot more, she wanted to go and explore, see everything that this new world had to offer “Let’s go! I want to explore!” Blizzardkit hurried outside, half running and half jumping with excitement.

Gentlenose nodded, watching the kits. She got up when they peeked outside of the barn, worry clouding her mind. "I'd better go make sure they don't get into trouble.." she purred to Thinstripe before following the kits. She had no intention of stopping them, only accompanying them to keep them away from danger.

Lakesong padded over almost into his tiny daughter Vinekit. "Vinekit? What are you doing out of the barn? Does your mother know your out here? Oh hey Gentlenose." The big fluffy light brown stripped tabby Tom meowed blinking blue eyes at his daughter.

Sedgekit was squished behind the two "Leave me some room to see! My fluffy pelt isn't going to fit" he complained trying to get a peak of the outdoors.
