The Maple Burned

Scorchpaw's eyes glittered with emotion. He had no intention of dealing with the storm of thoughts in his head. Instead, he would act. He hid under the gorse and waited for some cat to come around. He was half aware that he was in ShadowClan territory, and he was totally scatterbrained. Not a trace of his mother was left in his body. 
He knew that this was it. He would finally kill. His father would be proud of him, avenging his death by murdering a ShadowClan apprentice like they had murdered him. Scorchpaw knew her name, Maplepaw. He waited for the right moment to attack, though he knew he'd win either way.

Maplepaw slid through the forest trees, she purred happily unaware of Scorchpaw around. She slammed down to the floor into a pile of leaves as they got tangled in her fur, she smiled and played along.

Scorchpaw stepped away from the gorse, his breath shaking with adrenaline as he unsheathed his claws. "I wonder," he hissed to the cat, "What the blood of a cat called 'maple' tastes like? Is it sweet? I think we should test the theory..." He yowled and smacked Maplepaw to the ground, not killing her, but but hurting her either way.

Maplepaw was no threat to anyone, she felt herself get smacked to the ground in pain, she squealed as she tried to escape from Scorchpaw.

Scorchpaw's amber eyes were wild wit bloodlust as he dug both sets of claws into her stomach and tore into the flesh. His head leaned down to Maplepaw's throat and he closed his jaws. As he felt her life ebb away and bitter blood seep onto his fur, he could've sworn he could see Shatteredsoul nodding his approval a mere few feet in front of him. He dragged her limp body into a gorse bush as he padded away to clean himself off before returning to the barn. He felt a tightness in his throat.

"Oh, StarClan, I just killed someone!"

The last thing Maplepaw had felt was teeth digging into her neck, she was dead and in StarClan now with her mother.
