The Ferret In The Lightning Storm

Fur bristling and teeth bared, Mudfoot listened to the apprentice. She seemed pretty genuine... could he trust her? No. There's no time to worry about that cat right now. Ferretpaw's safety first. The tom reminded himself. "I'll deal with you later. Right now, Lightningpaw and I are going to take Ferretpaw back to camp." He hissed. Turning to his apprentice's sibling, he could tell how scared the small tom was. "Can you help me carrying her back? We need to get her to Emberleaf as soon as possible." He meowed softly, showing a hint of remorse. "I'm going to put her on my back, make sure she doesn't fall off, okay?" It might have sounded odd, carrying a cat on his back, but it was easier and hopefully more comfortable than dragging her through the dirt. With that, Mudfoot wedged his muzzle under Ferretpaw and crouched down, awkwardly hoisting her up on his back. Blood dripped on his pelt and the stench stung his nose. She won't die, not today. Waiting for Lightningpaw to get up, Mudfoot craned his neck to Stormpaw. "Don't think you're getting away with trespassing. I'll make sure Thrushstar and Fishstar both know about this." He meowed sternly.

Stormpaw flinched "Stupid borders" She mumbled to herself
OOC: last night i realized that since Erin hunter wrote Dawn of the Clans after most of the series, so no cat knows why they even have borders XD

Lightningpaw went to the warrior's side, his eyes on the trespassing apprentice with a look of suspicion. They couldn't leave her out here but, Ferretpaw was more important by far. He avoided looking up at the sky, honestly afraid the hawk would come back and finish them all off. Without any response other than a nod to Mudfoot that he'd keep his sister from falling, he bared hid teeth at Stormpaw before looking deeper into ShadowClan territory, waiting for Mudfoot's move to leave.

Ferretpaw's erratic breathing was getting better as the shock lessened. Her face felt like it was split in two, and her whole body ached. She tried to hold onto her mentor, squeezing her eyes shut as pain wracked her mangled body. She looked nothing like the happy cat who'd been skipping around the territory just moments before. "Mudf... foot... Can I still be... a warrior after this?" Dread overtook her when she imagined spending the rest of her days in the elders' den. She mewed pathetically as she tried to grip Mudfoot's scruff.


OOC: We can probably wrap this up in the next few posts, unless anyone else wants to keep going.

Stormpaw moved torward Riverclan border but didn't leave she laid down waiting for them to come back and hurt her Better to die exploring than die trapped in camp

Walking towards home, the weight of Ferretpaw made him trip on his own paws a few times, but Mudfoot managed to stay strong. Although, having a cat try to stay on your back and constantly claw at your fur was a bit difficult. Having Lightningpaw next to him was definitely a plus and he felt horrible for the young cat. It must be so hard for him to see his sister like this. After a while of walking in silence, the stale night air was disturbed by Ferretpaw's attempt at talking, though it was mostly just wheezing and gurgling blood. "Of course you'll be a warrior!" He said, not ready to believe that after all this work, Ferretpaw would sit in the medicine cat's den all her life. "You will be a warrior, I promise!" With that, Mudfoot picked up the pace and headed towards camp. He had faith in this apprentice and knew she would make a wonderful warrior.
