A Noon SC Patrol

Eaglefeather laid in her nest, her eyes were narrowed as she slept. She opened her eyes as the sunlight gleamed in them, she got up as her whiskers twitched A patrol will wake me up she walked out and sat down outside the den, she began to groom herself. The sun baked floor felt warm on her paws, she finished grooming herself and padded up to the entrance of camp, she changed her unhappy face to a better one "Does anyone want to go on a patrol with me?" she mewed.

Magpiewing let out a rather large yawn. He had caught some sort of stomach bug the night before, forcing him to sleep through his regular schedule.

He winced at the stream of sunlight that shone in his eyes. He let out an exasperated groan and left his den. Like most ShadowClan cats, the black warrior despised the daylight. Butt here was no way he could let himself sleep anymore. He felt useless when he did.

"I'll tag along," the tom meowed, his eyes adjusting to the light still.

ooc: for future reference, shadowclan cats are nocturnal. :D

Meh, who need to sleep? Larkpaw was lying outside the apprentice den, her eyes flickering up at the sunlight that streamed down from between the leaves. How could the other Clan's stand this? It was all to bright for her liking, preferring the cool darkness of the night. Besides, it was nice being able to see the stars of Silverpelt between the branches...Not the empty blueness of the sky or a passing cloud. She had started to drift off when a voice spoke up, startling her back into awareness as she lifted her head in surprise. Her ear flickered as she scanned the camp, finally spotting Eaglefeather standing at the entrance of the camp asking if anybody would be willing to join her. She might as well join, she thought with a twitch of her whiskers. Of course, her plan to join was solidify as her father trotted up to her. Her eyes glimmered, happy that this was her chance to spend some time with him. She trotted toward the older cats, flickering her tail. "I'll join," the apprentice meowed upon reaching the them, before sitting down as she turned her attention to Magpiewing with a soft smile. "Hello father," she purred before she lick her paw and drew it across her ear.

Eaglefeather nodded "This is a good amount of cats to me so we can get going" she mewed standing up "The patrol might be long, were going to be patrolling the borders and hunt on the way back if we have time" Eaglefeather turned to the shaded forest and began to walk.

Magpiewing smiled at the sight of his daughter. "Hello Larkpaw," he meowed, his voice light. He barely had time to spend with his kits, especially with her training and his constant patrolling. This would be a good opportunity for the pair to bond. And for him to see how her training was going. He trusted his mother to train his daughter well. Fennelcloud may have been growing in age, but there was no doubt in the tom's mind that she was still an excellent warrior.

Nodding at Eaglefeather, he followed on, somewhat happy that he wasn't the one leading. Eaglefeather was young, but he respected her for taking on this job herself. It was always good having responsible warriors, especially in these troubling times.

"That sounds good to me," he responded to the warrior.

"Alright lets get moving" she mewed continuing to walk.

When they had arrived on the border she looked back at them "I assume you would both know how to do this" her whiskers twitched as she had heard a shrew in the bushes. Her eyes sharpened, she began to stalk it her belly touching the ground. Slowly she moved her paw forward then changing her mind quickly she jumped up and bit it swiftly of the neck. Walking back over she dropped the shrew and dug a small hole for it, burring it under the earth's surface. Eaglefeather walked up closer to the border, stepping a bit back she scanned it. Remembering she should check any scents she pointed her muzzle to the air a bit higher, scenting only stale scents of cats and patrols she looked back at the apprentice and warrior. She shook her head and began to rub her scent on the trees and rocks in their territory.

Ferretpaw yawned and awoke to the sound of her mother. She stepped over apprentices and mewed a quick apology to whoever's tail she stepped on. The patrol was already leaving when she saw them. Her eyes got bright at the prospect of leaving camp for the very first time. She scrambled out of the tunnel and took a look at the big world. She had no idea it was like this outside camp! Ferretpaw heard a shuffle in the bush, a frog hopping away from her paws. She sped up and huffed as she finally caught up. "I... followed your... scents all the way here! Can I... whew... come with you?" She started rubbing her head on the bark of a tree. "I can help!"

Eaglefeather slightly smiled, she looked back at Magpiewing and Larkpaw then back at Ferretpaw. She nodded and once more continued to rub against trees rocks and other things.
