Nightpaw's Hunting Patrol

"Get up, Nightpaw. Time for more training!" Thrushstar call, sticking his head into the apprentice's den.

Nightpaw got up and stretched. He yawned as he and his mentor walked into the clearing.

When the apprentice met up with him, Thrushstar padded out of the camp and into the middle of the territory, making sure that Nightpaw was following. "Today we are doing some hunting. Now tell me, what do you smell?"

Nightpaw sniffed the air and opened his mouth to taste it. He caught a few scents. "Mouse, ShadowClan, and I think bird." he answered.

"Good, good," Thrushstar replied. The trail of the bird was a little stale, but the mouse certainly was close by. It was strange, actually, with it being leafbare. Mice weren't usually ones to stay out in the cold, but the leader wasn't complaining. "Now tell me where the mouse is." There was a point to this. It was just going to take a minute.

Nightpaw sniffed some more. He pointed his nose where the scent trail started. He wanted to catch it for his clan. He went into a hunters crouch. He crept along the scent trail until he found it gathering food. He pounced at it. He caught it under his paws. He snapped it's neck with a swift bite to the neck. He picked it up and brought it back to Thrushstar.

"Impressive!" The leader called out, watching the apprentice carefully. "You've already gotten that down pretty well! Let's move on. Anything else in this area?" He asked. He wasn't exactly smelling anything around. Maybe the trail of a lizard, but it seemed a little far. Maybe Nightpaw could track it down.

Nightpaw stood and took a big sniff. "Some lizard. Kinda far, but I think I can get it." he reported. He went into a hunters crouch. He crept along the scent trail. After a minute, he found the lizard crawling around. He knew only ShadowClan ate scaly things. He pounced at the lizard. It tried to run away, but he was able to land a paw on it's tail. He clawed it with his other paw. He picked it up and brought it back to Thrushstar.

The leader was certainly impressed. This wasn't going to take very long. Nightpaw was a natural. It reminded him of how well he had aced his assessment when he was an apprentice. "Very good job! Bury it and let's move on. There should be some frogs by the puddles over here," he mewed. "If we get one more thing, I think we can call it on this patrol."

Nightpaw nodded, the lizard still dangling from his jaws. He buried it in the dirt and snow. He followed Thrushstar to those puddles with the frogs.

When they got closer, there was a small sound of a croaking frog in the distance. It was surprising that Thrushstar's guess had been accurate, but he simply took it in stride. Walking through the puddles was a pain, however. With the temperature always dropping, the water was cold on his paws. "Alright Nightpaw. Last one," he whispered as not to scare the frog away. "Can you find it?"

Nightpaw used his ears to help pinpoint the frog. He kept low and walked towards the sound. He found it in a puddle. He pounced at the croaking prey. It was pinned down from his two paws. He snapped it's rough neck with a quick bite.

Watching the apprentice carefully, he nodded in approval when Nightpaw found and killed the frog. He was very good, that was for sure. "Good job. I think that's plenty for today's training. Let's grab the prey and head back," he mewed as he padded back towards the camp, grabbing some of the prey on the way back.

OOC: Then, all he'll need left is battle training! :D

OOC: Oh, he does? If you already know how to use the battle system then Night doesn't need it cx unless you really want to do it. It doesn't matter to me~ I wanna go ahead and get that done before the assessment if you wanna do it.
