The Maple and the River(open)

Mapledrop slipped from Riverclan's camp and padded down to the river. She stopped to take a drink from the water. She sat down on the pebbly shore and sighed. She put one paw into the clear water and then drew it back out. Her dark red pelt with darker red stripes stood out amongst the colors of Riverclan, and the river. She curled her white tipped fluffy tail around her paws and gazed out across the river. Thoughts of Deerflight slipped onto her train of thought and she ended up replaying all the memories she had of the love of her life. From the time they first met at fortress, to the time she snuck out of Thunderclan and all the way to Skyclans camp to she him. She missed those bittersweet moments where she and Sandfeather were in the forest and had talked about Deerflight. She had stepped aside for her best friend to be happy. Her motherly personality had dwindled until she was just a broken hearted she cat who was now quiet and secluded herself from her two best friends and her family. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard paw steps and turned to meet them.

"Oh, hi, Mapledrop. Wasn't expecting you to be here. I don't mind, though." A voice boomed from the deep scadows. Deerflight stepped up to her and gestured towards the river. "May I?"

Mapledrop internally faced palmed. She smiled and nodded. "I don't mind Deerflight." She turned back towards the river and watched a fish swimming in the river. She flicked her tail and thought of her sister and her missing mother. She thought back to the battle with Thunderclan and how her niece Midnightpaw had beaten her so easily. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and lashed her tail.
