Snowpaw's Hunting Patrol

Sandfeather stood by the entrance, her thick ginger fur groomed out neatly. Her green eyes glittered as she waited for her new apprentice.

Snowpaw saw Sandfeather and walked toward her. She hided her excitement.

"Can I go hunting with you guys?" Mapledrop meowed padding out of the warriors den. The pretty dark red she cat stretched and padded over to her friend and purred giving the younger cat a lick on the ear.

Sandfeather smiled as two cats walked over, her apprentice Snowpaw, and her best friend Mapledrop.
"Of course you can, Mapledrop," she purred then turned her attention to Snowpaw.
"Alright, you ready?" she asked.

"Yes I am." Snowpaw mewed. She looked up at Mapledrop and purred.

Mapledrop smiled back at Snowpaw. "Well shall we?" She purred flicking both the apprentice and her friend.

Sandfeather flicked her tail and then lead her patrol out. Once they got some distance from camp, Sandfeather turned back to Mapledrop and Snowpaw.
"Alright Snowpaw. Show me your best hunter's crouch," Sandfeather demanded softly.

Snowpaw looked at her mentor then crouched down. She kept her tail from swishing left and right.

Sandfeather studied the apprentice then made her way to her rump.
"Lower your back a bit more," Sandfeather urged gently as she softly pressed a paw on the top of her haunches and lowered her down.
"Now that looks perfect."

Snowpaw looked up at Sandfeather. She'll surely remember this when hunting. Suddenly she smelled something. Mouse! she thought excitingly. She stayed in her hunter's crouch and crept along the scent trail. Soon, she found it eating some food. Ohhhh, this is a good one! she thought. She stayed down until the mouse looked away. Now! She sprang and caught it under her paws. She snapped its neck with a swift bite. She picked it up and brought it back to the patrol.
