Anyone up for battle practice? (Open to TC apprentices)

Petalpaw knew she needed to practice her battle skills, but she'd never had time before, she'd always made time for something else. But she knew she needed to do it or she'd never become a warrior. So she poked her head inside the apprentices den. "Anyone up for battle practice?"

ooc; don't mean to get anyone's hopes up, but I think, I think, this counts as learning the battle system for any apprentices that need it.

Marshpaw nodded, getting up. He'd spent the last few minutes grooming his fur. Oh, what a waste. He walked over and waited for anyone else's response.

Petalpaw smiled warmly, and, yet again, her heart fluttered. But she shook the feeling away and nudged Marshpaw's shoulder playfully. "Thanks! I'm sure I'll beat you in every round," she teased/challenged. She tried to ignore her heartbeat as it started beating faster with Marshpaw's every movement. This is getting so annoying, she grumbled to herself. Shut up, heart! Marshpaw doesn't even like you in that way!

"We shall see about that!" He teased, and looked around to see if anyone else wanted to join. Truly, his heart was devoted to Bluepaw. But Petalpaw seemed to like him. However, the tom tried to make it seem like he was oblivious to not hurt her feelings. He had made a decision. He could be best friends with Petalpaw, though. What could be wrong with that?

Bluepaw padded out after Marshpaw.
"I'll join," she yawned. The old apprentice stretched her legs.

Petalpaw gave Marshpaw a shy smile and then snapped to reality as Bluepaw padded out. She took a tiny step back, one that she hoped her friends would not notice. Every time she saw Bluepaw it was like a sudden Twoleg boxing bag had hit her in the stomach. She knew that this was who Marshpaw liked best, and this was who Marshpaw wanted to be with.

But overall she still liked Bluepaw, and enjoyed her presence, even though she was jealous of her. "Hey Bluepaw!" she purred, smiling. "Okay, I think we have enough cats. Let's go." There was another reason for wanting to leave quickly, Petalpaw knew, other than really wanting to practice her battle moves. It was also because she didn't want anyone else to interrupt her time with Marshpaw. For some reason, she kind of enjoyed Bluepaw being near her when Marshpaw was around... She didn't know why, but it made her feel like.. like... well, she couldn't describe the feeling, even to herself, but she knew it made her feel confident, like she knew Marshpaw wouldn't only be nice to Bluepaw and would have to share time with Petalpaw. And she felt that if Bluepaw ever exploded with sudden anger at Petalpaw for taking Marshpaw away from her, Marshpaw would have to argue with her and stay on her side and she would be able to hurt Bluepaw's feelings if she wanted to.

But that wasn't something Petalpaw felt like doing right then. She did like Bluepaw, she really did, but her jealousy got in the way of that sometimes...

She began leading the way out of camp, and stopped in the sandy clearing. "Okay, so, because I'm so awesome, I get to battle someone first." She grinned teasingly to let everyone know that she was only kidding about being awesome and wasn't boasting. "Who dares? Whoever doesn't dare, they can be ref and decides who wins and loses and what's fair and isn't fair and can control any real fights that come out of the practice." She secretly wished she could fight Bluepaw and see if Marshpaw ever came to calling what she did fair and what Bluepaw did unfair, but she was immediately guilty of thinking that.

ooc; kk. And sorry for being so annoying with Petalpaw's crush, but that's just her personality. *smiles sheepishly*

Bluepaw looked at Petalpaw as they began to head out of camp. Then she looked at Marshpaw. She knew that Petalpaw had a crush on Marshpaw, but surely Marshpaw wouldn't decide to be with her? At that thought a miserable pain engulfed her heart but she pushed it away. No way would he do that. Bluepaw followed Petalpaw and stopped.
"I'll go first," she volunteered. She had a slight coldness to her voice. She liked Petalpaw but she would like her even more if she didn't have a crush on her mate.

Petalpaw smiled, pretending not to notice Bluepaw's slight hostility. "Great! Marshpaw, you get to choose to play winner or loser." She smiled teasingly/evilly at Bluepaw, and began the fight.

She backed up a bit, and then pushed off with her hind legs and sprinted at Bluepaw. She leaped just in time, her claws sheathed, and "hugged" Bluepaw's neck. She tackled her denmate to the ground, feeling proud.
