Aurapaw's Assessment

OOC: The one topic you've been waiting for! XD And stop rushing me, I've been busy. :P

IC: Goldenfeather poked her head into the Apprentices' den. She prodded the sleeping Aurapaw with her nose. "Come on, get up, sleepyhead!"

OoC: HUZZAH! OWO

Aurapaw slowly raised his head and looked at his mentor with half-sleepy eyes. "What is it?" he asked with a yawn.

OOC: 8D

"Hmm... Let's see.. According to my memory, your final assessment is today.But if you'd rather sleep through it, then I'll just go tell Graystream.." She joked, pretending to step out of the den.

"Goldenfeather, since when have I been known to slack off when it comes to my duties?" he snickered, stretching his limbs as he padded toward his mentor.

"Okay, good to see you're awake." Goldenfeather said. "You've heard the rules of the Final Assessment, right? You have from now until sundown to catch as much prey as you can. I'll be watching you while you hunt. Got it?"

"Absolutely! Don't worry, Goldenfeather; I'll make you proud!" he assured before sprinting off into the forest.

Goldenfeathe purred with happiness at the sight of her eager apprentice. "Good luck!" She called before he was out of sight. Then she started tracking him.

In the midst of the excitement, Aurapaw caught whiff of a juicy vole far in the distance and sprinted after it, hoping to demonstrate to his observing mentor his speed and tracking skills.

Goldenfeather silently crept behind a couple bushes and waited for his catch.

Aurapaw spotted the mouse scurrying around beside a bush and lowered himself into his hunter's crouch as he crept up on it, giving it a moment of relief before pouncing for it. Unfortunately, it scampered away and Aurapaw gave chase, hoping not to lose sight of it. As it ran toward its hole, the apprentice leapt for it with all his strength, batting it away before giving it the finishing bite.

Goldenfeather felt warm approval rising inside her. Perfect, She thought.

Aurapaw buried the vole for retrieval later and glanced in the direction he heard chirping; high atop a nearby tree. He climbed up the trunk and positioned himself on a branch before scanning the nearby area, spotting a bird on the adjacent branch.

Goldenfeather remained silent, making sure she didn't step on a twig and spoil it for her apprentice.

Aurapaw crept closer before leaping for it, catching its leg just a moment before it took off as he plummeted to the ground with it, struggling to deliver the finishing blow as it squirming in his grip and flapped its wings defiantly.

Come on... come on.. Goldenfeather held her breath as she waited for her apprentice to deliver the killing bite.
