The Fawn in the Meadow at the top of the Summit

Meadowpaw purred in greeting.

Fawnpaw dropped her prey and flopped down onto the grass, rolling around. "What a day!" She mewed exhausted

Summitpaw had looked for some rabbits and had luckily found two plump ones. Along the way he found a vole and a crow. He dragged his catch back to the tree though stopping only to hear baby birds in the tree above him. The kits will love those! There small enough so that the kits won't choke on it. he thought as he climbed the tree to find four helpless baby birds. He felt bad after taking their lives and thanked Starclan for the baby birds life and the dragged the rest of his catch.

Fawnpaw's eyes lit up when she saw her mate, she got up and rubbed against his shoulder while inspecting his catch. "Oh! Baby birds! Perfect!" She mewed.

"Yea I thought it would be good for the kits to eat these." he purred and nuzzled his mate.

She nodded, "Shall we take this back to camp?"

"Yea but let's come back and just hang out by the river. But not to close to the border." Summitpaw meowed. He grabbed the two plump rabbits, the vole, the crow, and the four baby birds. Flicking his sister with his tail he purred through the mouthful of fur and feathers. He led the way back to camp and when they got back he set his catch on the fresh kill pile.

Meadowpaw smiled at her brother, trying to ignore the rage that burned inside her when she saw Fawnpaw's and Summitpaw's gestures of their pathetic love. But she knew she was just jealous. Why can't I have love? she thought, despairing.
