Cloudpaw is sick

Cloudpaw was sleeping in the apprentices den but he kept tossing and turning becuase unable to get comfortable. He finally just opened his eyes and sat up in his nest. He knew tthat he wouldnt be able to go back to sleep so he padded out of the den to see what was happening around camp. He paused just outside the den because of a coughing fit. The coughing was shaking his whole body. Im not sick Cloudpaw kept saying to himself because he wanted to continue to train tobecome a warrior.

Specklepaw was having nice dreams until she heard Cloudpaw's coughing. She yawned, stretched, and padded outside. "Are you ok?" She looked at her brother with fear.

Cloudpaw coughed again and said "I-I'm fi-ine-e" as he was coughing. He did not like to admit how he really felt.

Specklepaw sighed. "Come on." She forced him to the med cat den.

Cloudpaw tried to protest "But if I go I won't be able to train. I don't want to be stuck in camp!" But he kept getting interrupted by coughs.

Sparrowleaf raised her head as the two stumbled their way inside. "What's all this racket?" she grumbled with a yawn. "Coughing?" The medicine cat sighed and stood up, shaking as she left her comfy feather nest. "Sore throat, nausea, headaches? Do you think you have a fever?"

Cloudpaw coughed but then stopped long enough to clear his throat and say "Sorry to bother you but Specklepaw wanted me to check with you." He glanced up at Sparrowleaf with fever glazed eyes.

((Sorry this is all I can write I have to eat dinner now))

"Well, until I know what's wrong with you I'm not allowed to sleep." She padded over, looking over the apprentice up and down. "I may just have to give you some tansy for the cough and poppy seeds for sleep, and just keep you in here for a couple days to see if it passes. You'll put strain on yourself if I let you train."

"That's what I told him…" Specklepaw muttered.

Cloudpaw coughed and said, "No no its just a cough I'll be fine." even though waves of heat kept coming off of him.

Specklepaw felt Cloudpaw's sickness in her throat. "Cloudpaw, stop denying, I sense the sickness…" Specklepaw sighed.

Cloudpaw tried to respond but coughed loudly and winced because it was hurting his throat. Then he said finally giving in "Ughhh can you tell Wailingstream that I wont be able to train for me?"

"Specklepaw can tell him," she muttered with a dismissive flick of her tail. That was the least of her concerns. "Just make sure you rest here. Do you know what happens when you ignore a medicine cat?" Sparrowleaf prodded the apprentice's cheek with her paw. "You die. So listen to everything I say."

Cloudpaw didn't feel like arguing or protesting anymore so he just said, "Fine." He glanced back to see if Specklepaw was still there.

Specklepaw sighed. "I'll leave you to it Sparrowleaf…" She whispered as she padded outside to do the task.
