Shameless Dozing [OPEN]

Orcapaws muzzle crinkled at the foul scent of mouse bile coating her toes, the disgusting taste of cracked ticks and fleas still clinging to her pink tongue. She had just finished picking the little parasites out of the elders' fur, and had been rewarded with the grand tale of how Skyclan gloriously fought their way back into the clans and rooted themselves firmly in the rocky regions. Orcapaw loved that story. It only confirmed her ideas of Skyclan being the bravest and strongest of the clans; having to fight their way into the forest lie down their borders, and keep other clan cats out of their harsh territory. With the wise words of the elders still ringing through her tufted ears, Orcapaw trotted out of the elders' den and immediately trotted out of camp and into the NewLeaf forests.
After a quick dip in a small rain puddle nearby, Orcapaw cleansed herself of the disgusting mouse bile clinging to her fur and allowed herself to relax. Fawnspirit was once again off on patrol without her, and the young apprentice had already changed the elders' bedding and cleaned them of their ticks and fleas. What could she do next? The young apprentice's ears perked upwards as the had an idea, and she quickly scurried farther off into the forest and scouted the woods for moss. After finding a nice, fresh, springy patch Orcapaw trotted back into camp and into the nursery. There were no queens or kits that personally needed their bedding changed, but just in case any new cats moved in they would be greeted with springy green nests decorated with feathers.

Orcapaw swiftly changed the stale bedding and replaced it with the new nests in under half an hour, and soon found herself with nothing to do yet again. She had deposited the stale bedding far away from camp and was now lazily leaning against the wall of the apprentices' den. She felt her green eyes begin to droop close, and with nothing else to do the young she cat found herself softly dozing in the bright sunlight. Orcapaw didn't bother to check to see if anyone else was in camp, and shamelessly began to dream.

Of course, Ocrapaw was far from the only one in the camp as none other than her brother was there. And other warriors and such, but Badgerpaw was clearly the most important one. Perhaps his siblings hadn't noticed, but a small change had overcome the apprentice since become...Well, an apprentice. While he had happily been the strongest of his siblings, it seemed that idea was growing in his head. He seemed to be proud at many of the fields that a warrior was expected to be good in, and would grow upset if anybody told him otherwise. While he loved his siblings as dearly as before, he often found himself training on his own to sharpen his talents in case a battle would ever come to their Clan and he would have to protect those he cared for; namely his family but his Clanmates were also something he cared for.

Badgerpaw left the apprentice den with a soft sigh, having been resting in there as he waited for his mentor to come by. Of course, Larktalon had not, which meant there was little doubt in the apprentice's mind that there wasn't going to be any training today which meant he had to find something to do for the day. He could always visit the elders and listen to those tales he liked so much, but he knew his sister was taking care of the-Oh, nope, she was sleeping.

Badgerpaw came to a stop as he spotted his sister sleeping, a small smile working its way onto his face. While he would use to just jump on her to wake her up, he knew that he was to act more grown-up. Sure, he could still play around but he wanted to prove that the warriors should take him seriously, so he calmly moved to his sister's side and sat down. Of course, he still could have his fun. He had sat down close enough that he could move his tail in front of her nose, and gently started to wave it against it, hoping to wake her up. But just to make sure... "Ocrapaw," he hummed softly, still trying to get used to referring her to such. "Wake up, Ocrapaw!"

Orcapaw's ears twitched lazily as she dreamed, her imaginary paws speeding along an imaginary plane as she mindlessly sprinted. It felt so good to run...maybe the young she-cat should do it after this little nap. Suddenly a small voice pierced through Orcapaw's light doze, and the fluffy black and white apprentice's green eyes snapped open with shock. She quickly whipped her head around to see who had surprised her so, but relaxed when she realized that it was only her older brother. "Great Starclan, Badgerpaw! You scared me." The Skyclan apprentice laughed, visibly relaxing her tensed muscles and letting her bushed tail drop to the dusty earth. Orcapaw whacked at Baderpaws tail. "Sorry I'm just so tired..I've been patrolling, I've hunted a bit, cleaned out the nursery, picked the fleas and ticks from the elders, and cleaned out the elders den. I don't know what else I can do!"
Orcapaw sighed and resumed her leaning against the apprentice's den, feeling branches and leaves entangle with her long black and white fur. The young she-cat felt her eyelids begin to droop shut again, threatening to pull her deeper and deeper into the sticky web of sleep. Tiredness was like a spider; always waiting for the perfect moment to strike and pull its victim into its sticky entanglement of dreams and nightmares. Orcapaw always compared things to living creatures, it made life seem at least a little more fun for her. The bushy furred apprentice opened her eyes and blinked harshly, ripping apart the web of sleep and emerging back into the real world.

"Sorry...this warm sunlight is making me drowsy." Orcapaw yawned, lifting a thickly furred white paw to cover her expanded maw. It was only polite...right? Not many other cats seemed to do it. A couple birds flew above Skyclan's camp, averting the young she-cat's attention as her green eyes drifted towards the faint shapes. Trushes Orcapaw thought, her mouth watering at the the thought of a plump trush Great Starclan, she loved those things. The downy feathers could be used for nest bedding, and the tender flesh always sang on the apprentice's tongue when she ate them.

Badgerpaw couldn't help but laugh as his sister jolted awake, giving her a grin. "Sorry, Ocrapaw. I couldn't help but mess with you." He paused as he watched her as she started to list off of all of her duties, causing him to chuckle softly, before growing silent as Orcapaw started to drift off. His tail wrapped around his paw as he turned his gaze to the sky, basking in the sunlight until his sister manged to wake herself up and apologize. He didn't turn his gaze to her, instead closing his eyes as he enjoyed the warm sunlight soak over his fur. "I don't blame you. This warm sunlight is pretty nice...Perfect to take a nap in." However, at the sound of birds, his ears perked as his eyes flickered open to see the thrushes. Like many SkyClan cats, Badgerpaw adored the taste of birds. He always thought that the ones he caught himself were the most tastiest...His tail flickered as he glanced at his sister, easily reading the look on her face. "I suppose the sight of those thrushes woke you up?"

Orcapaw shook her head to rid herself of any tendrils of sleep still clinging vainly to her thick fur, her eyes apologetic as she turned back to her brother . " I'm sorry for being so rude...stupid warm sun makes me so tired." The she-cat chuckled in a shy tone, hoping that her brother wouldn't think less of her for nearly falling asleep right in front of him and nearly missing chunks of their sibling bonding. Orcapaw smiled at her brothers words and rose to her full height, barely reaching up to her brothers shoulders.Out of the corner of Orca's green eyes, the Skyclan apprentice noticed that her brother had followed her previous gaze up towards the sky to stare at the passing birds. "Ha.. Well you see." The fluffy black she-kit rambled trying to think of something quickly but had no luck - instead she continued stumbling over her words not exactly sure what to say. Although it had been awhile since she had hung out with her brother. It'd be nice to get some time with him again, blinking her large bright green eyes Orcapaw shifted her position. "Hey Badgerpaw you still have time to hang out with me right?" Orcapaw asked the tom

Orcapaw stretched her long legs and lashed her bushy tail in an attempt to shake away the very final specks of sleep trying to worm their way back into her head. They kept coming back in larger and larger groups, attacking her from all sides and trying to pull her back down into the sticky web of sleep. " If we are we'd better start with this adventure quick! This lounging around is making it harder and harder for me to stay awake!"Orcapaw meowed with an amused glimmer in her bright green eyes. She hopped a couple paces away from her brother and smiled, waiting for him to explain what they were doing and lead the charge deeper into Skyclan's territory.

When Ocrapaw apologized for being rude, a small smile appeared on the apprentice's face. He saw his sister as having no need to apologize, he wouldn't dare call her rude at all. He did miss hanging out with her and Stormpaw...So when Ocrapaw asked about hanging out, he blinked in surprise before he smiled softly and gently bumped her with his shoulder; trying his best not to hurt her as he was a head taller then her. "Of course I got time!" he said, before he grew silent for a few seconds as his ears flickered back on his head. "I am sorry for being so distant lately...Training has been keeping me busy." He got to his paws as she did, keeping an eye on her as he stretched out as well, enjoying the warmth of the sun high above them. As she hopped away, he glanced around the clearing in hopes of spotting his other sister...He felt like he hadn't talked to Stormpaw in a while and was hoping to see her...But his middle sibling escaped his sight as he let out a soft sigh, before glancing at his sister that was here. "Right!" he said, realizing she was waiting for him to give a speech like they would do as kits. Standing at full height, he strolled past her as he attempted to look all high and might.

"As you know, we are always under threat by ThunderClan and WindClan, both who did not accept us as a Clan when we returned to the forest. While WindClan does not lie at our border, ThunderClan does! As apprentices training to be warriors, it is our duty to keep our family - the whole Clan - safe. So, we shall do the duty of checking the borders. It may seem like a mundane duty, but it is in fact very important to our lives! If no one guards the borders and makes sure that those ThunderClan cats stay in their land, then why would care about the borders. As we patrol the borders, we are making sure that their scents stay on their side of the forest, and if even a whiff of a pesky ThunderClan cat is out of line, then we are to tell Breezestar, correct?" He paused, trying to come up with more words to say. He knew that everything he was saying was correct, patorling the borders was very important as every piece of their territory was theirs, and ThunderClan would have no right, to cross their borders. "So lets head out! Let us keep our Clan safe as it is our duty to do so!"

Training's been keeping all three of them busy, Orcapaw hardly ever saw Stormpaw the only time the three are together are when they are resting in the apprentice den or just hanging around in camp which almost never happens. Who knew the life of a apprentice can be so hard and difficult? Maybe the life of a warrior will be less stressing and more relaxing. Orcapaw sure did miss that portion of her life, where she could just sleep in all day and do nothing besides playing with her siblings. Hopefully the three of them will have their warrior ceremony together as well! Though that was more unlikely.Thats okay Badgerpaw! We're hanging out together now aren't we?" Orcapaw mewed grinning brightly although she did wish that Stormpaw was able to hang out to, things just werent the same without her.

Orcapaw quickly fixed her posture, her ears perking as Badgerstar approached. She had such fond memories of Badgerpaw pretending to be a leader! It brought joy to her bright green eyes, she was always a bit insecure as a kit, due to her being the runt and all but now she had full on confidence in her capabilities. The fluffy she-cat nodded sternly her gaze watching Badgerpaw speak, the name of thunder clan and windclan made her hackles rise. She wasn't born at the time but she knew how difficult the two clans were making it for skyclan to survive why couldn't they just see that? Although it was a bit dissapointing when they were going to just check borders. Orcapaw had hoped that they would do something else that wasn't related to training or something, but she wasn't a kit anymore she was an apprentice, training to become a warrior of skyclan! "Lets do this!!" Orcapaw resorted back to Badgerpaw her nose twitching as her green eyes were filled with determination to keep skyclan safe.

The fluffy apprentice quickly lept to her paws and trotted out of camp, keeping a steady pace for her brother to catch up.

As Ocrapaw trotted forward, Badgerpaw quickly hurried after her as they left the camp. He soon reached her side, his aqua eyes flicking around the trees that loomed over them. He always felt safe under their shadows. It was a strange, but huge comfort to the tom - never that he would admit that he required comfort in some form or another. These were their home, and it was their duty to protect he. How Ocrapaw had become disappointed at the mention of them checking the border was something that had not escaped Badgerpaw's eyes, so perhaps... "You know, Ocrapaw, we might as well hunt while we are out here as well. The Clan can never have too much pray," he said, giving his sister a soft smile as he glanced at her as he flickered his tail.

Orcapaws attention was on the beautiful scenery of skyclans territory as she trotted through, she honestly thought that skyclans territory was the most photogenic. Her bright green gaze switched over towards Badgerpaw as he quickly approached and was trotting next to her at a steady pace. It was a bit surprising on how fast Badgerpaw could run, Orcapaw herself wasn't much of a runner. Though she could run pretty fast, her endurance levels were just very low.

"Sure why not!" Orcapaw mewed back towards Badgerpaw, she didn't really care what they did she just wanted to spend time with her brother. She made her way towards a beautiful open clearing to where she would always go with fawnspirit for training. Skidding to a stop Orcapaw looked back over towards Badgerpaw. " How about a contest? The one who catches the most prey wins!" Orcapaw mewed eagerly, the fluffy black she-cat always had a knack for playing games. She always was a very competive cat even in the beginning of her kit-hood.

A soft scroff escape from the tom as he glanced at his sister. "You think you can beat me? You must be dreaming, Ocrapaw," he said with a lash of his tail, holding a playful grin on his face. "But sure, let's do it." He came to a stop, opening his mouth silently as he drank in the scent of birds around him. So many pray in these warmer moons...He was sure he could beat his sister. However, he paused as he turned his attention to her. "But should we check the borders first or should we just forget that and go hunting?"

Hunting was one of Orcapaws talents, she thought that she was better then both Stormpaw and Badgerpaw, probably the best apprentice at hunting as well! With a huff Orcapaw's green eyes gave a determined look towards her brother. " Dreaming? You wish Badgerpaw! You'll be surprised when I win!!" The apprentice squeaked towards her brother puffing out her chest in pride.

About to dart off, Orcapaw paused as she listened to what Badgerpaw was saying. She honestly didn't know what to do with the borders since she felt like that was a warriors job to check them not an apprentices job, but Badgerpaw seemed so keen on doing it. " Well i'm sure we have enough time to check the borders after?" Orcapaw mewed tilting her head as she noticed that the sun was still quite high up in the bright blue sky.

"Suppose we will," Badgerpaw said with a huff, before glancing at the sky. "About we meet back here when the sun is at its peak. That should give us a good time limit, alright?" His tail swished as a soft breeze ruffed though his fur. "Let's start in Three..." he glanced off to the side as he decided on his path. "Two." He couched down, ready to dart off. "ONE!" As soon as those words left his mouth, he darted off into the forest to find his first prey.

He slowed down as soon as he felt he was a good distance away from his sister, letting out a soft sigh as he glanced around the forest. Well, it was time to get down to hunting. He opened his mouth, tasting the air for any scent of prey when the scent of a squirrel hit him. A frown appeared on his face as he flicked his tail, not very happy with it but it would do. He would prefer birds but prey was prey. He crouched down as he started to slowly moved forward, until the squirrel came into sight. His whiskers twitched as he moved forward slowly, before he shook his rump and leaped forward, his claws outstretched to catch the squirrel. However, it seemed no matter how good Badgerpaw thought he was, it didn't give the ability. The squirrel had noticed him, and had quickly darted up the tree it had been next to, leaving Badgerpaw to catch thin air. "Ah...Mousedung!" he hissed as he watched the squirrel disappear into the branches above, before stalking off to find something else to catch.

Orcapaw was ready, in fact the she-cat was so ready. It was going to be fun to beat Badgerpaw, she couldn't wait for the look on his face when she wins. Although she didn't really know if Badgerpaw was a decent hunter or not, guess she'd have to find out in the end.. As badgerpaw started counting down she crouched down in a position to sprint. Mentally preparing herself, Orcapaw quickly sprinted off towards the opposite side where Badgerpaw went, focusing on her breathing as she tried to regain her breath.

Her gaze flickered around the territory as she caught a scent of a mouse nearby, not the best prey but it'll work. Every prey counts in this competition and who knows how proud her clan will be if she brought in a lot of prey theres a chance she can be made a warrior early! Slowly following the scent of the mouse. Being only a few fox lengths away the fluffy she-kit leaped her claws outstretched hoping that it wont run away.
