| - The Wall:
Fuck Olly.
Wish Jon would've received the Pink Letter instead of getting cockteased with Benjen. Fucking D&D hold so much contempt for me, personally. Just me. I WANTED BENJEN.
Melisandre is also the biggest lying ginger whore on the face of the planet.
The leeches to assassinate the three other kings: Robb Stark, usurper - killed at the Red Wedding Joffrey Baratheon, usurper - killed at the Purple Wedding Balon Greyjoy, usurper - ???
I guess 2/3 is good enough for Stannis, because despite Melisandre's magic not working as promised, he still puts enough unfailing trust into her to burn his own daughter alive on her word. This melts the snow, but when Mel hears that half the men deserted, she puts on this sullen fucking "oh woops" face and fucking leaves. And then the Baratheon army just gets fucking butchered by Ramsay. She burned Shireen and put leeches on Gendry's dick for no reason because her magic is fucking bullshit.
What I'm saying is, if you're putting faith into this fucking hack to resurrect Jon the same way Thoros resurrected Beric, I've got bad news for you son.
Fuck her. Fuck Olly. Fuck Alliser. Fuck everyone.
- The North:
Rushed and anti-climactic.
The Battle of Winterfell was over in 20 seconds and was a complete one-sided slaughter. Roose advised to stay within Winterfell's walls, multiple times, and Ramsay went against that better judgment... and completely fucking succeeded.
Ramsay can't keep getting away with this shit. In a show where "anyone can die" he sure is fucking untouchable. Everything, always, goes completely fucking right for Ramsay no matter what it is. He's never put in any danger or under any threat of losing, or under any threat of his plans biting him in the ass or backfiring. You can't win against Ramsay. Even fucking Roose, the Loosest of Lords, cannot compare to Ramsay's godlike invulnerability and super-genius. I hate it. I hate him. I hate this show.
Brienne and Pod abandon Sansa to go enact her shitty stupid revenge for Renly. Now, Renly is a great guy and all, and you can avenge him all the fuck you want, but don't try to make Stannis look like the pretender. Stannis is the one true king, by every law in god damn existence, your little puppy crush tried to usurp him, and he fucking died for it. So go fuck yourself with all those titles, Brienne. "Lord of the Seven Kingdoms" my ass.
STANNIS. STANNIS. STANNIS.
They butchered your character, my lord, my sweet sullen boy, son I never had. But they gave you some damn fine last words. Go do your duty in the big great battlefield in the sky, old friend.
Also, the realization has hit that they burned Shireen for the sole reason of making us sympathize with Brienne... not for any greater plot reason, just for that, with some extra shock value on the side. Fuck you guys.
I'll admit I cheered and did a little fist pump when Theon threw Myranda off the ramparts, but his whole redemption was a little... rushed. No Theon in the godswood, no Theon in the snow, no Theon running with Sansa getting chased by Bolton men. Just Theon having a Darth Vader moment and throwing Show-Only Character #76 off the walls, and then jumping off with Sansa.
When Theon jumped off the walls with Jeyne Poole in the books, it was a beautiful moment. That has to be one of my favorite chapters in the entire series. He wasn't Reek anymore, he was Theon Greyjoy, and it fucking rocked. This... didn't quite compare. Also, Melisandre melted all the snow with Shireen's burning, so presumably they just died from the fall, because fuck you. There's no escape from Hotel Ramsay.
Roose didn't even appear in the finale. Not even a three second shot of him in his solar as the battle raged below. Some BS if you ask me.
- The Iron Islands:
ayy lmao
- King's Landing:
Glad to see Cersei get what she deserves, hyped to see Frankengregor fight Loras, would jizz my pants if Loras kicked Gregor's ass to Dorne and back. - Book spoiler:
But no Varys...? Dude...
- Dorne:
u want a properrr gurl but u need the bad pussy
The most pointless fucking plotline in the entire show, let alone just this season.
There was no point. No Fire and Blood speech. Doran just let Jaime and Myrcella go. There was no subterfuge, no hidden motives, nothing. Doran is just a pushover dude in a wheelchair apparently, and not the grass that hides the viper like he was in the books. moar like watching grass grow amirite.
Ellaria poisons Myrcella with the lesbian makeout sesh. Fucking retarded. Unless Doran was in on this, which would be stupid, then he is not the genius plotter he is supposed to be.
Arianne Martell. They could've had Arianne this season, but instead they chose the Sand Snakes, and everyone suffers for it. Watchers, readers, hell, even in-universe characters, we all suffer for having Ellaria and the Sand Snakes.
They're not cool. You could've had something genuinely interesting with Arianne and the Dornish storyline that is in the fucking source material, but instead you chose this shit. You chose wrong. Nobody fucking likes the Sand Snakes. Even their book counterparts are tainted by bad accents and worse writing.
Hotah does nothing. Doran does nothing. Jaime and Bronn do almost nothing. Trystane does nothing. Quentyn and Arianne don't fucking exist. The Sand Snakes are the fucking Sand Snakes. IT'S POINTLESS. ALL OF IT.
They could've just killed Myrcella in two or three scenes earlier this season to set up for the future conflict between Dorne and the Iron Throne. They could've had Doran reveal his true intentions through his badass speech. They could've gotten rid of the Sand Snakes entirely and instead had Arianne, who is a genuinely interesting character and not a stupid Oberyn clone.
They gambled on Oberyn's popularity and they lost. Fuck 'em. We could've had the Greyjoys, or even just one scene with the Iron Islands this season, and it would've been better than the pointless shit we got in Dorne.
Also, Myrcella's scene with Jaime was creepy. You are surprisingly okay with being a bastard of incest, Myrcella...
- Braavos:
We fucking get it. Meryn Trant is a bad guy. But do we really need him to be into some rough and kinky sadomasochism shit as well as being a pedophile?
It just gets gratuitous at a point. Arya killing him was pretty metal, but holy shit, we hate him enough for killing Syrio and being a scumbag Lannister crony. We don't need all this other pedo shit piled on. It just gets cartoonish at some point.
Who knows what the fuck else happened in Braavos. That whole shit at the end there was just one big mindfuck from start to finish.
- Meereen:
What is Daario's deal? Is he sincere? Is he the slimy smarmy scumbag he's supposed to be, or just the charming Essosi Han Solo that he's portrayed as?
Also, Tyrion, Missandei, and Grey Worm left in Meereen... Season 6, is it Meereen being besieged by Yunkai and the Harpies while Daenerys has her Dothraki adventures and Daario and Jorah track them? Are we not going to see Daenerys in Westeros until everybody's already wiped out by White Walkers?
I don't care about Meereenese inner politics. We got a whole season full of Meerenese intrigue, a whole book of Meereenese intrigue, and I'm done with fucking Meereen. Tyrion there won't make it any better. Give me the Battle of Slaver's Bay and let us all just move on with our lives.
Also, Varys is there I guess... I guess.
And the Dothraki are just so excited to see this random white woman in the middle of this field. Like, the whole khalasar was running around her, not just the outriders and scouts.
Also, Viserion and Rhaegal (Daenerys' other two dragons) apparently poofed from existence or something. Daznak's Pit sucked up all their dragon budget. Fucking Drogon, as greedy as always.
- In conclusion:
I know I sound like a bitter snob whenever I compare things to the books, but none of this finale compares to ADWD's climax, and that's just because they... didn't have enough time. They had so much to cover in this episode and they simply couldn't give it all the attention and time it deserved, which isn't their fault.
Except it partially is their fault, because they could've cut all this bullshit with Olly and the Sand Snakes and had more time to cover the book's climax over the last several episodes. I know everybody loved Jon's badass fight in Hardhome, but let me just say this: the whole Hardhome sequence did not need to be twenty minutes by itself. Yeah, it was fucking metal, but there's a lot to cover, and the wildlings don't matter that much. Hardhome literally happens off-screen in the books, and probably for good reason.
We won Hardhome, but we lost the Battle of Winterfell and how much more in the process... I don't think it's worth it. We could've had Theon in the godswood, we could've had lots of other things that wouldn't have made the finale seem so rushed.
Jon's assassination was not as cool without the Pink Letter. The Battle of Winterfell and Theon's escape were not as cool when it took twenty seconds. Dorne was not as cool without Arianne, or the Queenmaker plot, or the Fire and Blood speech, or anything that made Dorne worth it. Meereen was not as cool without... well, Meereen wasn't very cool in the first place, but they managed to make it even worse.
- How I would've written this season:
Disclaimer: I know I'm not a professional, I know the challenges and limitations the Game of Thrones team face when making such quality television, and I know D&D and HBO are way better than I am. I'm just saying, this is how I would've done it if I could, with all the budget/time constraints taken into consideration. Jaime's character development is ruined either way because of Cersei's whitewashing, but what can you do... no retcons. - Episode 1:
In a flashback, a woodswitch tells a young Cersei that she will marry a king, that her children will all die before her, and that once a younger and more beautiful queen takes everything she holds dear, her younger brother will strangle the life out of her.
Back in the present, Cersei chastises Jaime in the Great Sept of Baelor over Tywin's corpse. In general acts like a crazy bitch and paranoid over Tyrion. Loras trains Tommen in the yard while Margaery cheers them on, further increasing their bond and showing the Tyrell influence over the king. Later, Margaery is shown flirting with some random dude, and a reformed Lancel Lannister confronts Cersei.
Tyrion arrives in Pentos in a crate. Talks with Varys about Daenerys and getting revenge on Westeros.
Daenerys is an incompetent cunt in Meereen. She knocks down the Harpy, show people looking unhappy. Stalwart Shield is killed in a brothel.
Hizdahr and Daario tell her about how Yunkai defies her abolition of slavery and tells her to reopen the fucking fighting pits or else people will continue to be bitches. She doesn't listen because fuck you she's Daenerys. They also tell her all the awful rumors about Drogon burning and eating people but she doesn't listen because her poor sweet baby could never do anything wrong.
To prove her point, she goes down to visit Viserion and Rhaegal. Viserion and Rhaegal are accordingly terrible fire-breathing man-eating monsters. Dany gets the fuck out.
Sansa and Petyr talk intrigue while watching Robin Arryn spar. Baelish starts taking her toward Winterfell without her (or the audience's) knowledge. Pod and Brienne talk about her oath to find the Stark girls.
Sam talks to Gilly about the election for Lord Commander. Stannis talks to Jon about burning Mance at the stake for his desertion of the Night's Watch and many crimes against the realm. Stannis wants the wildlings to fight for him in return for land and holdfasts  south of the Wall, Jon tries to tell him why that won't work, he doesn't listen because he's Stannis.
Mance is tied to the stake that night, but as he begins to burn, Jon and a few other Black Brothers fill him with arrows to end his suffering. Melisandre continues to eyefuck Jon.
- Episode 2:
Cersei receives a viper statue with Myrcella's necklace in its fangs. Because she's a batshit crazy bitch, she's convinced Tyrion is behind it... somehow, and plotting with the Martells. She tells Jaime that she's rescuing Myrcella from their clutches, and when Jaime tries to argue, they get into another fight. Cersei sends him away with a small army of Lannister soldiers to restore control over the anarchic riverlands, as punishment for letting Tyrion free in the first place. Jaime brings Bronn along.
Hunters meet with Cersei bringing a dwarf's head. Qyburn takes the head because he's a creepy little shit. Cersei handles Small Council stuff, Kevan tells her to go fuck herself, it's all good.
Shireen tutors Gilly, Selyse is a bitch. Stannis talks to Jon about the letter he received from ten year old Lyanna Mormont, about how the North would only follow the Starks. He offers to legitimize Jon and make him lord of Winterfell in order to rally the Bolton-hating North to his banners.
Jon tells Sam he will refuse Stannis' offer. The election occurs, Janos Slynt tells everyone to vote for Alliser Thorne, some other dude says to vote for Denys Mallister, Sam says to vote for Jon Snow. Jon wins the election by a narrow margin and is risen up as Lord Commander.
Podrick and Brienne run into Sansa and Petyr in an inn. When Brienne approaches, Baelish accuses her of being convicted with Renly's murder and tries to apprehend her. She escapes and flees with Pod, Petyr and Sansa continue on the road.
Arya arrives in Braavos and is taken into the House of Black and White, although no one will explain its purpose to her. At first. Jaqen later reveals himself to her and takes her in as an apprentice, telling her to become "no one."
Doran Martell and Aero Hotah watch Myrcella and Trystane walk the Water Gardens/Sunspear (merged for the sake of simplicity). Inside it's peaceful, but outside the walls, in the outer streets of Sunspear, the Dornish commoners are all calling for war against the Iron Throne. For the death of Oberyn, and also the death of Elia.
Arianne, Doran's heir and daughter, urges her father to take action against the Lannisters to avenge his brother and sister. Doran rebuffs her and says there's nothing to avenge. Arianne storms off.
(should mention that we're supposed to be sympathizing with ARIANNE, and view Doran as weak)
Tyrion and Varys travel to Volantis. Tyrion is a bitter drunk. Varys mentions that he won't be staying in Meereen with Tyrion long, and that they would have to part ways once they reached their destination. He won't reveal why.
Daenerys continues to lose her grip in Meereen. The Sons of the Harpy raid a shop belonging to a former slave and make a morbid arts and crafts project out of him. Daario and Grey Worm capture a Harpy, and Daenerys allows for his "interrogation" (i.e. torture) in order to find out more, against Barristan's wishes.
Dany learns that Astapor has fallen to the Yunkai'i, and that the other great slaving cities are forming a coalition against her. Thousands of former slaves in Astapor are fleeing for Meereen in order to seek shelter with their Mhysa. With much of Meereen already in chaos and disorder, and with war on the horizon and not enough crops to feed the hungry, her councillors urge her to close her gates to the Astapori. She refuses, because she's their Mother.
Later that night, during pillow talk, Daario tells her to unleash her dragons on the armies of the slaving cities. Dany knows she can't control her dragons anymore though. She sees Drogon flying in the distance when she goes to her balcony and hears his screech.
- Episode 3:
A shot of King's Landing shows all the hungry and desperate smallfolk that the war has displaced. Many are shown to be pious after their hardships, praying to the Mother for mercy and Warrior for protection, and sparrows hand out bread and soup in the slums of Flea Bottom. The High Sparrow is chief among them.
Tommen and Margaery are wed and consummate their marriage. Margaery subtly hints to the audience that she's not a virgin. She manipulates Tommen into trying to send Cersei back to Casterly Rock, and Cersei confronts Margaery. Â Margaery gossips about how enthusiastic Tommen is in the bedroom and Cersei leaves.
Back in the council room, an envoy of the Iron Bank demands immediate repayment from the Throne. Cersei sends him away, much to his anger. It's mentioned that most of the Crown's debt, aside from House Lannister and House Tyrell, comes from the Faith of the Seven and the High Septon. Cersei summons His High Holiness to talk about forgiving the crown's debt, but the High Septon refuses. The High Septon is thrown into a black cell later that night.
Gregor Clegane twitches and shakes on Qyburn's operating table as he writes a letter to Lord Baelish.
Reek stares up at several flayed corpses being displayed on the walls of Winterfell. Roose explains House Bolton's tenuous position in the North to Ramsay, and about how the former bannermen of House Stark have no love for them. Ramsay says that they could crush any rebellious northern House by force, but Roose instead states that they could consolidate their hold over the North with a marriage.
Petyr Baelish reveals that he has agreed to wed her to Ramsay Bolton. Sansa is reluctant until Petyr tells her it will be an opportunity for revenge. They arrive at Winterfell and are greeted by Roose, his wife Walda, Ramsay, and a retinue of northern lords. The lords of the other northern houses show great respect toward Sansa as she is escorted back to her old chambers in Winterfell. Petyr Baelish and Roose Bolton discuss the marriage and how the Iron Throne would react if they learned the truth. Baelish receives a letter from Cersei.
Brienne tells Podrick of how she came to be loyal to Renly Baratheon, and also of her oath to Catelyn.
Jon refuses Stannis' offer, saying that he has sworn his vows, and that Sansa is the only Stark with a claim to Winterfell. Stannis announces that he will march within the fortnight. Davos tells Jon of the terrors the Boltons are subjecting the North to, but he stays adamant in his vows.
Jon gives Janos Slynt command of Greyguard, but Janos disobeys him. After Janos Slynt insults him and questions his authority, he has his men arrest Janos Slynt and drag him outside. Jon executes Janos and Stannis nods in approval.
Arya sweeps the floors of the House of Black and White as Jaqen prays with a man and gives him a drink of water out of the pool. The man dies, and Arya demands her training as a Faceless Man. Jaqen tells her that Arya only wishes to serve herself, and that she is not "no one."
Later that night, the Waif tries to play the lying game with Arya, provoking Arya into a fight. Jaqen arrives to stop it, but tells Arya she must discard all her possessions if she wishes to become No One. She tosses everything into the water except for Needle, her last connection to the life she once had. Jaqen and the Waif take her into the room where they wash the dead.
Tyrion convinces Varys to stop in Volantis, where they witness a red priestess preaching to the slaves about their savior, Daenerys Targaryen, the Lord of Light's chosen. Tyrion visits a brothel, but can't get it up because he still loves/hates Shae de funny haor. Â Tyrion stumbles out, drunk, but is kidnapped by Jorah (who was eyeing the Daenerys look-alike).
- Episode 4:
Mace Tyrell informs the Small Council that the Iron Bank has called in more of their debt. Cersei sends Mace Tyrell and Meryn Trant to go negotiate with the Bank in Braavos.
Cersei meets with the High Sparrow in person, naming him the new head of the Faith. In return for the Faith forgiving the crown's massive debt, she allows for the revival of the Faith Militant. The sparrows take action in King's Landing, destroying the brothels and alehouses. Lord Petyr Baelish's establishment is looted and destroyed, and Olyvar is arrested. Sparrows break into the royal apartments, confronting Margaery and her handmaidens. Tyrell guards are fought off by the City Watch and the sparrows arrest Margaery, Lancel Lannister announcing Margaery's charges of adultery and fornication.
Loras rages when he hears the news and implores Tommen to order his queen's release and that the allegations are lies. Tommen goes to his mother and she says that charges of infidelity against a king are serious (ha, irony), but to go ask the High Sparrow himself. He, Loras, and the Kingsguard go to confront the High Sparrow, but sparrows prevent their entry, and Tommen prevents any violence. Tommen and the Kingsguard turn back, and Loras storms off in a rage.
Up in the North, Jon walks with Melisandre, getting strange looks from his Brothers. She warns him of daggers in the dark and tells him to keep his wolf close. Continues to eyefuck him. She eventually leaves. "You know nothing Jon Snow." Oh shit. Jon gets that gormless look and stares after her.
Stannis has a heartfelt moment with Shireen, telling her about how he did everything he could to save her from her greyscale.
Sansa visits the crypts of Winterfell and Petyr Baelish tells her about the Great Tourney at Harrenhal, and how Prince Rhaegar stole off with his aunt Lyanna. Petyr says that he must depart to King's Landing, but that Stannis was approaching from the north and would would use her if he took Winterfell, and states that the Boltons are not secure behind their walls at Winterfell as they are not loved by the northerners.
Jaime and Bronn ride through a ruined riverlands, toward where the ancient Tully stronghold of Riverrun is being besieged by Freys. The Tullys are the last Stark loyalists still defiant toward the Iron Throne. Frey soldiers are shown hanging from the trees along the way.
Arianne seduces Arys Oakheart, the Kingsguard sent to guard Myrcella, and convinces him to join her plot against the Lannisters. A handful of loyal knights and retainers join her scheme.
Jorah the Explorer and Tyrion have adventures in a boat.
Barristan tells Daenerys stories about Prince Rhaegar and Hizdahr repeats his request to reopen the fighting pits, and to attempt to make peace with the other slaving cities. Sons of the Harpy start a panic by attacking civilians, luring Grey Worm, Daario, and many of the Unsullied down into the city. Daenerys herself is attacked in the Great Pyramid by infiltrating Sons of the Harpy, but saved by Ser Barristan. Grey Worm is almost killed when the Unsullied are ambushed, but is saved by Daario.
- Episode 5:
Brienne and Pod stay at an inn near Winterfell. The atmosphere in the room is heavy and dark, and she overhears an old man muttering things about "Ned's little girl."
There is a feast in the Great Hall of Winterfell with all the lords of the north, who have gathered for Ramsay's marriage to Sansa, and to help defend the castle from Stannis Baratheon. Frey soldiers, thanks to Roose's marriage to one of Lord Walder's daughters, are also present. Reek is forced to serve them, and Ramsay explains to Sansa how Theon was reduced to such a state. There is tension among the lords, especially as Ramsay's petty cruelty toward Sansa increases. Lord Manderly subtly drops a "north remembers" line all of them. Roose announces that he is having another child, a son. Myranda is shown being a jealous whore. It's noted that some Houses, such as the Mormonts, Glovers, and mountain clans, have not answered Roose's call.
Sam and Aemon discuss Daenerys Targaryen, and Aemon tells Jon to "kill the boy and let the man be born." Jon frees Tormund Giantsbane and tells him to gather the wildlings north of the Wall and to bring them south, for shelter and refuge away from what's coming, for an alliance with the Watch. Jon announces this, but many of the Watch protest, saying that they cannot freely let wildlings south of the Wall after warring with them all this time. Tormund departs toward Hardhome, where many of the wildlings have gathered.
Sam tells Gilly about how he wanted to be a maester, but how his father would never permit a Tarly to wear a chain of servitude. Stannis enters and asks Sam about dragonglass and its effectiveness against White Walkers, and mentions Dragonstone has large supplies of it. Stannis says they will march toward Winterfell in the morning, and that Melisandre, Selyse, and Shireen will stay under Jon's protection with a small garrison of Baratheon soldiers. They depart, with Davos sharing some last bonding time with Shireen.
Grey Worm survives his wounds from the attack, but much of the city is damaged and in chaos. Daario urges Daenerys to take action, and she does so by seizing the leaders of each of the Great Families of Meereen, including Hizdahr, and has them all imprisoned. She brings them to her dragons, and against Barristan's pleading, feeds one of the Great Masters to Viserion and Rhaegal. The rest are brought to their cells, to be "interrogated" by Daario.
The attacks against Daenerys only increase despite this, and Meereen is under threat of revolt. It's revealed great armies, from Volantis, Tolos, Yunkai, Astapor, and Qarth are all marching on Meereen to displace her. Barristan councils her to leave toward Westeros with her Unsullied, but she refuses to flee Meereen a failure. With no one else to turn to, she decides on compromise, visits Hizdahr in his cell, and says that she will reopen the fighting pits and marry him for the sake of peace.
Tyrion and Jorah have more adventures in a boat and are attacked by stone men. Jorah becomes afflicted with greyscale.
- Episode 6:
Arya keeps washing bodies. She plays the lying game with Jaqen and fucks up. When a man with a young sickly daughter enter the temple, Arya consoles her and makes up a convincing lie about her own backstory. Jaqen tells her she's ready to continue.
Trystane and Martell walk the Water Gardens, being teenage lovebirds. Later that night, Arianne talks to her and smuggles her out of Sunspear, telling her she is to be a queen. When Myrcella asks what happened to Tommen and where they're taking her, she says that Tommen is fine, and explains how she's a queen under Dornish law. Thus is Arianne's plot to start a war against the Lannisters.
Jaime and Bronn arrive at Riverrun, where the Tully and Stark banners fly defiant. Jaime has an encounter with the incompetent Frey commander and his mistress, who is in possession of Robb Stark's crown. Edmure is explained to be held hostage, and is threatened to be hanged if the castle does not surrender.
Tyrion and Jorah continue toward Meereen. Tyrion explains that he killed Tywin, and that Jorah's father was killed in a mutiny. Both are captured by slavers, who take them to Meereen to fight in the fighting pits.
Baelish returns to King's Landing, where he is confronted by the sparrows. He leaves to speak with Cersei, where Baelish reveals that Sansa has been married to Roose Bolton's son, Ramsay. Cersei is enraged by their treachery and Petyr says he will lead the armies of the Vale to destroy both Stannis and the Boltons, so long as he is rewarded with the title Warden of the North. Cersei agrees.
Olenna Tyrell arrives to free her daughter. She confronts Cersei, threatening an end to their alliance, but Cersei denies any blame. At the holy inquest, Cersei brings forward multiple men who she had tortured into false confession of banging Margaery, including Olyvar. Loras attacks the Faith Militant and Olyvar, but is subdued. The High Sparrow announces a formal trial will be held.
Myranda tries threatening Sansa, Sansa ain't having none of that shit, and a Manderly soldier scares Myranda away. Reek takes Sansa to the godswood for the wedding, with the lords of the north in attendance, and the marriage is consummated back in Ramsay's chambers (with Reek being forced to watch).
- Episode 7:
Jon speaks more with Melisandre. Sam and Gilly stay with Maester Aemon, who has fallen ill, and Sam speaks for Aemon the next morning during his funeral. Gilly is attacked in the dining hall by two Sworn Brothers. Sam comes to her rescue, but is badly beaten, and only the sudden appearance of Ser Alliser saves them. Gilly gets the Fat Pink Mast.
Dead Frey soldiers have begun turning up in Winterfell and Sansa has been locked in her bedchamber. Reek does his best to serve Sansa, but when angrily confronted over his betrayal and the murder of Bran and Rickon, he runs and leaves.
As Stannis has been marching, Stark loyalists (including the Glovers, Mormonts, Hornwoods, and others) have been flocking to his banner to save Sansa Stark from the Boltons. The snows increase however, supplies are scarce, and Stannis' southron troops are having difficulty marching and coping with the snow. Davos advises to turn back to Castle Black, but Stannis refuses.
Jorah and Tyrion are bought by a Meereenese noble. Daenerys discusses battle strategy with Barristan, Daario, and Grey Worm as Yunkai and the slaver confederation approach. Daario again, later that night, urges her to use her dragons, saying that the Harpy and the slavers would bend to her power if they were unleashed.
Jaime parlays with the Blackfish, to no avail, while Bronn speaks with the Frey soldiers about the status of the riverlands and the Brotherhood. Jaime speaks with Edmure, discussing his pregnant Frey wife, and says that if Edmure doesn't get the castle to surrender, he will tear Riverrun to the ground and send his child over the walls with a catapult.
Olenna confronts the High Sparrow, trying to negotiate the release of Margaery, to no avail. As Tommen languishes over Margaery's arrest, Cersei says she will meet with the High Sparrow. Olenna and Petyr meet in secret, and Petyr hints that he can get back at Cersei. As Cersei meets with the High Sparrow, she is arrested for her many crimes.
- Episode 8:
Cersei is kept in the cells. Qyburn visits her, telling her of the charges by the Faith, and that her uncle Kevan has returned and taken control in her absence. Qyburn leaves with the words "the work continues." In the Small Council, Kevan proves himself to be a much more efficient ruler than Cersei, helping placate the Tyrells and work to fix all of Cersei's messes.
Arya takes the identity of an oyster seller, Cat of the Canals, and describes her typical day to Jaqen. She is ordered to learn about and kill an insurance man.
Jon discusses his plans for the wildlings with his Brothers (Alliser Thorne, Bowen Marsh, Othell Yarwyck, and others) who disapprove. Some mention that he is too close to Stannis, and that if Stannis loses the Battle of Winterfell, he will draw the ire of House Bolton and the Iron Throne, reminding Jon of the Watch's neutrality. Jon later speaks with Melisandre and Shireen, while Gilly tends to Sam's wounds. Olly continues to be a little leering bitch face in the background. Sam then leaves to Oldtown to win a maester's chain.
Reek fearfully brings more food to Sansa in her bedchamber, who threatens him. When asked why he killed Bran and Rickon, Reek finally admits that he couldn't find them after they escaped, and killed and burned two farm boys instead to save face so no one would know. Reek leaves a stunned Sansa and heads to the godswood, where he prays in front of the heart tree for forgiveness. The snows are shown to be getting worse.
Ramsay and Roose discuss battle plans with the other northern lords. Roose suggests the sounder plan of caution, preferring to stay within the walls of Winterfell and let Stannis freeze and starve in the cold, but Ramsay wishes to meet Stannis in the field. The issue of the recent dead Frey soldiers also crops up, inviting tension and suspicion.
Tormund is shown at Hardhome gathering desperate wildling survivors to join Jon at Castle Black, when the White Walkers come. Cut to black.
- Episode 9:
Arya continues on her route to the Thin Man, but is side-tracked when she spots Meryn Trant and Mace Tyrell negotiating with the Iron Bank. She learns that they will be attending a play soon to discuss business when she returns to Jaqen.
Tormund returns with a ragged band of wildlings, revealing all that transpired at Hardhome. Alliser warns Jon that his compassion will get them all killed. Jon speaks with Shireen, and mentions his own sisters, and is later visited by Melisandre. Eyefucking intensifies.
The heavy snows have slowed Stannis' army to a near halt, and the southron troops are on the verge of desertion and starvation, but the northerners wish to press forward to rescue Sansa Stark, vowing to protect "Ned's girl." Stannis agrees with them, saying that there is no turning back. Stannis sends Davos back to Castle Black to ask for supplies and assistance from Jon Snow and his wildlings, and to fight to put Shireen on the throne should word come back from Winterfell that Stannis is dead.
Arianne and her co-conspirators continue through the desert, intending to crown Myrcella and raise Dorne's banners against the Iron Throne, forcing both Cersei and Doran's hands. When they arrive to their destination however, they find a group of Martell soldiers waiting for them, led by Areo Hotah. A brief battle ensues, where Arys Oakheart is decapitated and Arianne is arrested. However, one of the co-conspirators kills Myrcella in the chaos, before escaping into the mountains.
Edmure, with Jaime's ultimatum in mind, is sent into Riverrun to negotiate their surrender. The castle finally lowers their banners, but Edmure allows the Blackfish escape rather than face imprisonment by the Lannisters. Edmure and his wife are escorted to Casterly Rock as hostages, when Jaime receives a raven from the capital informing him of Cersei's arrest. He leaves back towards King's Landing, through a wood full of hanged Frey soldiers, and the Freys at Riverrun are attacked by the Brotherhood.
In Meereen, it's the day of the Great Games, and there have been no attacks since Daenerys has agreed to the marriage with Hizdahr. Jorah fights in the pit when Drogon arrives, drawn by the scent of blood. Hizdahr tries to order the dragon to be killed, but Daenerys leaps into the pit, as Daario, Barristan, and Jorah try to stop and rescue her. Instead she tames Drogon with a lash and hops on his back, and he flies away with her to escape all of Meereen's shitty boringness.
- Episode 10:
Stannis marches on Winterfell with his troops in a heavy blizzard, and Ramsay (against Roose's judgment) leads Manderly, Frey, and Bolton troops out to meet him. The battle commences.
Inside Winterfell, Sansa escapes her room but is confronted by Myranda. Knowing the fate Sansa would suffer once Ramsay returned, Theon shoves her off the walls. Bolton men, now alerted to their escape attempt, begin to chase after them. Sansa and Theon run up to the battlements when they are suddenly cornered. Theon grabs Sansa, wrapping his arms around her, and throws them both off the walls of Winterfell and into the swirling snow below.
There is chaos in the surrounding towns as the two armies meet, and Brienne is caught in a momentary dilemma when she sees the flaming heart banners of Stannis Baratheon. However, she decides to stick true to her oath to Catelyn and use the chaos as an opportunity to infiltrate the castle. Podrick discovers Sansa and Theon slogging through the snow, battered but safe from harm, and Brienne steals them away.
The Manderlys turn cloak in the engagement and victory is almost near for the Baratheon forces, but Stannis is separated from his men and killed. The death of the king shatters morale, and despite heavy casualties, Ramsay rallies the Bolton forces and drives the remnants of Stannis' army back into the wolfswood.
In King's Landing, Cersei finally breaks and confesses to the High Sparrow. She is allowed to return to the Red Keep until her trial, but is forced to undergo a Walk of Shame, where she walks through the city naked and bald to the jeering crowd. Qyburn and Kevan cover her as she returns, in tears, and Qyburn reveals the newest member of her Kingsguard—Robert Strong, the zombified Gregor Clegane.
In Dorne, Doran meets with a chained Arianne. He finally reveals that he has been working toward vengeance all along, and that Trystane was never meant to be married to Myrcella, and that he has been working with Varys to restore Daenerys Targaryen to the throne.
Arya secretly goes out to the theater, luring out Meryn Trant and brutally murdering him by the canals, letting him fall into the water to be eaten by eels. When she returns to the temple, she is blinded by Jaqen H'ghar.
Daenerys wanders the wilderness, her dress burned and in tatters, Drogon fighting her every command. She has begun to suffer hallucinations of her brother Viserys, and of those back in Meereen, and acknowledges that she was never meant to be that kind of queen, and that she was a Targaryen conqueror. Drogon burns a horse and Daenerys begins to eat it, when she is suddenly surrounded by a khalasar. When she stands up to face them, Drogon at her back, the Dothraki dismount off their horses and kneel.
Jon receives a taunting letter from Ramsay Bolton. The letter details that Stannis was killed and his host was smashed, and that unless Jon turned Sansa, Theon, Shireen, Selyse, and Melisandre over to him, that he would march up north and cut out his bastard heart and eat it.
Filled with anger at the thought of the Boltons defeating Stannis and abusing Sansa, Jon announces to the Watch that he is breaking his vows to go march on Winterfell. Tormund and the wildlings vow to go with him. Melisandre flees the hall at the news that Stannis is dead.
As Jon leaves and gets ready to depart toward Winterfell however, he is stopped by some of the Watch and stabbed. For the Watch, bitch. Jon collapses, chaos erupts between the wildlings and the Watch now that the Lord Commander is dead, and Shireen is showed being tied to a stake, Melisandre trying to resurrect the Lord of Light's chosen. Her screams and the sounds of fighting are heard as the camera pans up to Jon's dead ass face.
Cut to credits.
Bitch.

| - Sansa & Theon's escape; how it could've been:
Death was the sweetest deliverance he could hope for.
In the godswood the snow was still dissolving as it touched the earth. Steam rose off the hot pools, fragrant with the smell of moss and mud and decay. A warm fog hung in the air, turning the trees into sentinels, tall soldiers shrouded in cloaks of gloom. During daylight hours, the steamy wood was often full of northmen come to pray to the gold gods, but at this hour Theon Greyjoy found he had it all to himself.
And in the heart of the wood the weirwood waited with its knowing red eyes. Theon stopped by the edge of the pool and bowed his head before its craved red face. Even here he could hear the drumming, boom DOOM boom DOOM boom DOOM boom DOOM. Like distant thunder, the sound seemed to come everywhere at once.
The night was windless, the snow drifting straight down out of a cold black sky, yet the leaves of the heart tree were rustling his name. "Theon," they seemed to whisper, "Theon."
The old gods, he thought. They know me. They know my name. I was Theon of House Greyjoy. I was a ward of Eddard Stark, a friend and brother to his children. "Please." He fell to his knees. "A sword, that's all I ask. Let me die as Theon, not as Reek." Tears trickled down his cheeks, impossibly warm. "I was ironborn. A son . . . a son of Pyke, of the islands."
A leaf drifted from above, brushed his brow, and landed in the pool. It floated on the water, red, five-fingered, like a bloody hand. ". . . Bran," the tree murmured.
They know. The gods know. They saw what I did.
. . .
Theon led the way up the stairs. I have climbed these steps a thousand times before. As a boy, he would run up; descending, he would take the steps, three at a time, leaping. Once he leapt right into Old Nan and knocked her to the floor. That earned him the worst thrashing he ever had at Winterfell, though it was almost tender compared to the beatings his brothers used to give him back on Pyke. He and Robb had fought many a heroic battle on these steps, slashing at one another with wooden swords. Good training, that; it brought home how hard it was to fight your way up a spiral stair against determined opposition. Ser Rodrik liked to say that one good man could hold a hundred, fighting down.
That was long ago, though. There were all dead now. Jory, old Ser Rodrik, Lord Eddard, Harwin and Hullen, Cayn and Desmond and Fat Tom, Alyn with his dreams of knighthood. Mikken who had given him his first real sword. Even Old Nan, like as not.
And Robb. Robb who had been more a brother to Theon than any son born of Balon Greyjoy's loins. Murdered at the Red Wedding, butchered by the Freys. I should have been with him. Where was I? I should have died with him.
. . .
Even so, he knelt beside her, pulled down the furs, touched her cheek. "You know me. I'm Theon, you remember. I know you too. I know your name."
"My name?" She shook her head. "My name . . . it's . . ."
He put a finger to her lips. "We can talk about that later. You need to be quiet now. Come with us. With me. We will take you away from here. Away from him."
Her eyes widened. "Please," she whispered. "Oh, please."
. . .
Theon was staggering by the time he reached the foot of the stair. He slung the girl over his shoulder and began to climb. Jeyne had ceased to struggle by then, and she was such a little thing besides . . . but the steps were slick with ice beneath soft powdery snow, and halfway up he lost his footing and went down hard on one knee. The pain was so bad he almost lost the girl, and for half a heartbeat he feared this was as far as he would go.
. . .
The crossbow snapped. A bolt passed within a foot of him, shattering the crust of frozen snow that had plugged the closest crenel. Of Abel, Rowan, Squirrel, and the others there was no sign. He and the girl were alone. If they take us alive, they will deliver us to Ramsay.
Theon grabbed Jeyne about the waist and jumped.
Imagine hearing this as he kneels before the heart tree, and then this when he goes to rescue Sansa. They didn't do his redemption arc the justice it deserved. ;^; ______________________________________ ‹‹ former site administrator ›› pm me |
