Moonhigh (closed)

A dark figure sneaked through the Riverclan territory. Drift, the rouge made his way to the gorge in the pale moonlight. It was almost moonhigh as Drift stared down intoh e gorge. He jumped down onto a sturdy ledge that jutted out the side of the gorge and sat down, staying quiet as he listened to the sound of rushing water. The gorge was rather creepy in the night and seemed to loom over Drift.

"Drift?" The she-cat peered down onto the tom from the top of the gorge. "Is that you?" She jumped down onto the ledge and sat down, facing him. "Hi," She purred as she muzzled his flank. The moonlight reflected off of her shimmering fur and seemed to make her dimly glow. She looked beautiful. "We are going to have to meet somewhere else from now on, I got caught sneaking out of camp and I had to lie and say I was going hunting because I couldn't sleep. I could tell that the cat was suspicious, so they could've followed me here. Next time I'll be more careful." Shimmerlight didn't like to lie to her clan, but it had to be done if she was going to be with Drift. "So, how have you've been?" She asked. She talked quietly. She was loud enough for Drift to hear her over the water, but quiet enough so that anyone trying to spy on them couldn't hear because the water droned out her voice.

Drift was amazed at her beauty. "Shimmerlight!" He stood up and licked her cheek. "Okay. Tell me where to go and I'll be there," he promised. He cuddled up next to Shimmerlight and wrapped his tail around her's. "I've been doing fine. I've had a few scuffles with some clan cats, but nothing to big." He breathed in her scent and smiled. "What about you?"

Shimmerlight purred as she leaned into Drift. The cold air stung her lungs, not helping with her sickness. The she-cat coughed. "Well, half of my clan is sick. Hunting isn't going to well. The river is most likely going to flood because newleaf is coming..." basically all the news she had was bad. "Oh, I did save some kits from drowning in the river." She sounded cheerful and proud about the last part.

Drift laughed. "So, what's it like to live as a clan at?" He asked. He wasn't thinking of becomeing one, he was just curious and interested in Shimmerpaw's life. He was happy with his rouge life, but the only problem was that he couldn't stay in one place for a long time. If twolegs or another Riverclan cat found him there, he would have to leave. He was afraid of leaving Shimmerlight. He made it his goal to do whatever he had to to stay with her.

Shimmerlight thought for a moment. "It is actually really nice. I enjoy hunting and hanging out with my clan mates. Defending the territory can get rough if I run into a rouge who wants to tear my eyes out for no reason. Lucky for me, you aren't that kind." She rubbed her head against Drift's shoulder and wrapped her tail around his. "I have to risk my life for my clan, say in a battle, but it's worth it. Trust me, it's fun to live in a clan, you always have something to do." She smiled as she thought about her clan life. "What is life like as a rouge?" She laid down and yawned, a little tired. The ledge was cold and wet and uncomfertable, but she didn't mind. As long as she was with Drift, she would do anything.

Drift nodded. "It sounds nice, except I don't know if I could live with all of those cats. I don't do well with others...except you. You're special." He licked Shimmerlight's forehead. "Life as a rouge gets tough at times. I'm usually going from place to place, never staying in one spot for a long time. Usually I'm leaving because Twoleg's drive me out, or other rouges. Sometimes food can be hard to find, but I make do. I like to travel and see new places, but I'd rather stay with you. So far, living on that farm which I am staying at is great. There is plenty of food there." He stopped for a moment. "Here, I need to show you something." Drift stood up and jumped onto different rocks and ledges which came out from the side of the gorge, making his way to the bottom. He stood on the bank by the water and waited for his mate to follow.

Shimmerlight followed Drift down to the bottom. She landed on one ledge, and slipped. "Ahh!" She unsheathed her claws to get a better grip. She dug them into the  rock, hanging off the side. "Drift!" She screamed. She kicked her back legs to try to get up, but she couldn't. "Help!" She wasn't to far off the ground, but if she fell, she would drop right into the rushing water of the gorge and be swept away.

"Shimmerlight!" Drift worriedly looked up at her, not knowing what to do. An idea popped into his head. "Let go, trust me! I will catch you!" Drift was going to catch her by the scruff as she landed in the water and drag her onto the bank. He was sure his plan would work. "You can trust me, Shimmerlight!"

Shimmerlight didn't know what to do. She couldn't pull herself up, so the only other option was to drop and hope Drift will save her. She trusted him, so without hesitation, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and let go, holding her breath. Coldness stung her body as she landed into the freezing cold rushing water.

Drift acted as soon as Shimmerlight plummeted off of the ledge. He reached out and caught her by the scruff with his mouth as she hit the water. He pulled her up onto the bank, gasping. "Woah! That was close!" He laughed nervously. "Are you okay? That was one near-death experience!" He laughed again, trying to comfort her. He licked her and cuddled around her so she would stay warm.

The she-cat sucked in air as Drift pulled her to the surface. "Thanks drift," she said through coughs. "I'm fine, thanks." She enjoyed the warmth and comfort from Drift. She muzzled his flank and licked his cheek. "Thanks for saving me," she purred.

"You're welcome," Drift said as he breathed in the scent of Shimmerlight. "Follow me, I still need to show you something." He stood up, not wanting to leave the warmth and comfort of his mate. He started to walk along the water, away from shimmerlight. He stopped about 12 tail-lengths away. "It's over here," he called.

Shimmerlight stood up and followed Drift, stopping where he stood. "What?" She asked, looking around.
