Just Stuff and Things

It was moonhigh. A good time for Shadowclan cats to be awake, but it didn't feel anywhere near normal or peaceful for Thrushstar. He was always thinking, his mind constantly busy with what happened that night, what to do the next night, when patrols have been sent out and how long they take. Ever since he had become leader, it'd been a struggle for him not to stress out over the little things, but with leaf bare seemingly so harsh this year, there was no time to settle down and just let things happen. Prey needed to be caught, borders needed to be watched for those pesky wandering clan cats that ventured too far into his territory. He was thankful, though, that everything seemed peaceful for the moment. He had heard nothing from any clan other than what was said at the gathering. Maybe that was something to be thankful for. "Nothing has changed..." he muttered to himself, not expecting anyone to be there with him until he heard a voice from behind.

Mistflower's ear flicked as she followed the ShadowClan leader silently through the damp, cold marsh. Normally she would've said something, but something held her tongue silent. Normally, it would've been easy for her to be noticed, but not today it seemed. Not when he was like this. When her dear mate's mind was clouded, she knew, it was hard to distract him from his thoughts. The she-cat decided to do nothing, that was, until he started to speak up to himself. Something about his word's bothered her.
"Nothing at all?" The queen muttered, speeding up her few steps and coming up to his side, her pelt just barely grazing against his. "The season's have come and gone, our son has finally gotten over his sickness, and I expect we'll be having grandkits soon." Her whiskers twitched in slight amusement. "And the forest has been relatively peaceful. What could be bothering you, Love?"

He really shouldn't have been surprised that Mistflower was there. She was always there, and while it made him jump slightly at the sound of her voice, it was actually a little relieving. Turning around to face his love, he actually slightly mirrored her look of amusement. "Surprisingly, I don't believe anything is 'bothering me,' so to say. Just... in general, everything has been the same. Nothing extreme has happened in the forest lately. It's surprising, almost," he said. "Although I am very glad that Shadowclan seems to be doing as well as it is this leaf bare."

The Queen almost looked puzzled, pausing in front of him. Even if she was a little confused by his words, they did nothing but cheer her up. After all the moons of his constant worrying, and watching him after those sleepless nights, thank StarClan - it was a blessing to be able to just breath and relax, and - even if it was small - she loved being able to see him smile again as well. "Thrushstar, you almost say that like it's a bad thing." She purred teasingly, glancing away and back out into the territory thoughtfully. "It'd be even better if this peace could last through New-Leaf. Maybe it'd do the entire forest some good."

"There's no doubt about that. I'm sure that Starclan would even enjoy the peace at this rate," he chuckled lightly for a moment before looking away to stare around at the marsh surrounding them. Sitting for just a moment to make himself a little more comfortable, the amused look he had quickly disappeared again. He just couldn't help but feel a little off. It was great to have peace, but Shadowclan had never had such luck... at least, not while he'd been around. There was always something bad that'd happen. "We can only hope that it stays this way. I just feel like it won't. It never has. As soon as one situation calms down, another arises."
