A lonely Leafbare

Mousekit sat inside the nursery by the entrance, staring out into the camp. Mousekit had always hated Leafbare, even though he hadn't lived that long. He hated the white raindrops that fell from the sky, coating the ground in a powdery, white substance that made his paws wet and cold. He hated the heavy winds that blew through the terrifying, leafless trees and how the winds cut into his skin. He hated how the cold made him shiver on long nights in the dark with nobody to curl up with in the almost empty nursery with hardly any other kits in it. The tom curled his tail over his paws and let out a slightly angry sigh. Mousekit's bright amber eyes fell onto a pile of food, sitting on the edge of camp. As his tummy growled, he smirked and stood up, then padded over to the fresh-kill pile. Mousekit picked around a bit, then found a tasty bird and dragged it to a nice spot to eat. Mousekit shivered in the cold as he devoured down his meal. Mousekit slit his eyes a little when he saw a cat approach him.

"Whatcha got there little kit?" Fennelcloud asked, padding towards the young one from the warrior's den. She was freezing out here and it didn't help that her fur was so short. The only thing that it did was catch snow and make her colder. Staring at Mousekit, she tilted her head with a small smile. "Looks like you're really hungry to be eating something almost as big as you!"

Mousekit stopped eating once the cat started talking. "I think it's a lizard," he said, unsure of what it was. He poked at the bird with his paw. Mousekit looked up at Fennelcloud. "Yeah, I guess." The tom kit didn't really say much as he took another bite of his food.

The older she-cat couldn't help but chuckle. This must have been his first time out of the nursery. She was basically the same way. "Actually, what you have there is a bird! You don't find those around Shadowclan very much," she purred before she padded closer to Mousekit, lying down beside him so that her head was equal to the height of his. "Lizards don't have feathers and they're usually smaller but still just as delicious!"
