Featherpaw's battle training

Lightningstrike emerged from the den and suppressed a yawn. Getting up this early was tiring. Sticking his head into the apprentices' den, he called out softly. "Featherpaw, time to get up. Battle training!" he mewed quietly.

FeatherPaw perked up and trotted towards him. "Yes I'm so excited! I can't wait to learn to fight! Ill be the best ThunderClan warrior ever!" She bounced excitedly. Soon she would be able to go in battles to protect her clan mates.

Lightningstrike purred, amused. "Okay then, 'best warrior ever', let's head to the training clearing." he meowed, smiling.

FeatherPaw lowered her ears in embaressement then followed quickly. Her tail held high as she ran through the undergrowth. She sniffed around for some prey as she ran.

Lightningstrike stopped. "Here we are." He mewed. "The first move you'll learn is.... can you guess?"

FeatherPaw sat down and thought. "Uh front paw blow? Something like that?" She tilted her head. Was that it? "Leap attack?"

The big tom nodded. "That's right, you were close. You'll learn the Front Paw Strike. Watch carefully." He looked around and blinked. "How about we pretend that the stick over there," He pointed his paw toward a big stick. "Is a fierce ShadowClan cat?" he asked.

FeatherPool nodded and looked to the stick. "Okay uh what do I do? Er how do I do it?" She swished her tail.

The gray cat crouched down, using his tail to gently brush his apprentice backward. "Watch closely." he murmured. "You rear up on your hind legs.." he mewed, rearing. "Then, you slash wildly with your forepaws. Like this..." He demonstrated once more, whipping his claws at the stick. After he dropped back down on all fours, the stick was practically ruined. Its bark was scratched, and the tips were broken off.

FeatherPaw went into a crouch and creeped forward. Striking out her still kit sharp claws cut the branch tip off. Grabbing the falling part she shook it. Spitting it out she laughed and looked at LightningStrike.

Lightningstrike laughed at the she-cat. "Very good! Now.. the next move you will learn is the Belly Rake. Now," The tom pointed at a low-hanging tree branch. "That will be an enemy warrior. Once again, watch closely." He got into a crouch and slithered forward until he was laying on his back with his belly exposed. "Alright. You scratch your opponent's belly when they've pinned you down. Easy enough." Lightningstrike battered the tree with his hind paws, scraping the bark off with his claws. "Try it on me, Featherpaw. Remember to keep your claws sheathed, though!" he added hastily.

FeatherPaw watched intently then nodded at his intructions. Walking towards him she flopped on her back looking at her paws real quick to make sure they were sheathed she took a breath. Then batted his stomach with her paws. FeatherPaw giggled. @"It looks like I'm swimming upside down."

OOC: Sorry 'bout that. I forgot to have Lightning pounce.

Lightningstrike blinked as he realized what had gone wrong. "Here. One more time." Lightningstrike padded to the other corner of the clearing and stalked towards her. Pouncing suddedly, making sure his claws were sheathed of course, he pinned her down. "Here's your cue.. Gotta be faster than last time, remember?" he whispered.

FeatherPaw lowered her ears waiting for the pounce as she fell back she hissed a bit and frantically waked her paws around. As she pawed she thought to herself. 'Maybe I could make him collapse?' She stopped and kicked his hind legs out and then pushed up on him. Then she rolled out from under him. Trying to stand up she shook her head with dizzyess. "How was that?"

Lightningstrike smiled as his leap was judged perfectly. After a little bit of waiting, he got bored and was just about to hop off of her. Before he could place his paws on the ground, however, the she-cat stopped struggling. Lightningstrike gave a satisfied purr, which quickly turned into a startled mrrow as he was thrown off of the apprentice. "Great, Featherpaw!" he panted, picking himself up and shaking leaves and dirt out of his pelt.
