I ran through the dense forest. Hoping she would never catch up, but it felt like my lungs were on fire. They could not give me the oxygen I so desprately needed to move faster. My speed decreased. I could hear her gaining. The wound I gave her earlier slowed her down. I just knew it. I would already be dead if it hadn't. My heart pounded against my chest. Tears blurred my vision. I thought she loved me. The thought bounced around my head. The memories of her faded. My head could no longer keep them now that she was chasing me for my blood. I couldn't believe she would do this. She's a monster now. A beautiful monster that promised she would never hurt me. That promise is broken now. My legs gave up. They crumbled. I could no longer run from her. I heard her stop. "Giving up now?" her voice said. The voice that brought me in that first day.
"Yes." I gasped.
I looked at her. Her sharp teeth were gleaming in the moon light. "Good. I was tired of chasing you."
"I guess they were right Alaina. We could never be together. Hunters don't belong with vampires."
I heard a sigh come from her. "I guess so. Sorry."
"Don't apologize, my love, I enjoyed the memories you gave me."
She winced. "I-I love you."
I smiled. "I love you too Alaina." She bent down over me. I stretched out my neck. "Goodbye, my love."
"Goodbye," was the last thing I heard.
