Claw Scratch in the Shadows and a Blue Moon

Bluekit wandered sleepily out of camp at moonhigh and gazed at the moon. Something made him feel excited, so he trotted farther out into the territory. Hearing an owl hoot, he jumped and scuttled into the shadows, all trace of sleepiness gone. As he crouched next to a tree, he heard a slow, terrifying hissing, almost as if someone were sliding their claws across a boulder. The sound made Bluekit shudder, and he moved out of the shadows. When he looked at the trees, a big black paw with razor sharp claws was sticking out. He shrunk back a few paw steps, and black cat stepped out. Looking closer, he saw that this was a spirit. Bluekit squeaked and stepped back. The poor kit tumbled off of the edge and landed with a smack on a rock. He was dead.
