Painful Reminders [open patrol]

Reedstar picked his way up the tumble of rocks where countless RiverClan and ThunderClan warriors had fought and died.  For now it belonged to RiverClan, as it had since Froststar was leader... but for how long? War had subsided, and ThunderClan hadn't attacked Sunningrocks since he was a warrior... but tensions still burned hot between them. Some old grudges never went away, and some old wounds never truly healed. It only takes one claw prick, and then they bleed again.

The RiverClan leader had his own old wounds. Just being near the rocks made his hackles rise and brought him back to gray days as an apprentice. It'd happened long before any of his Clanmates had even been born, but he remembered it as vividly as if it'd been yesterday. The sky'd been the same slate color as the rocks, and Reedstar only had to close his eyes to see Froststar's broken corpse and to feel the throbbing ache in his side from when he'd come tumbling down.

His ill-fated first border patrol had come to an abrupt and painful end when they'd come across a badger... and StarClan sometimes played cruel jokes. Now I'm hunting the badger instead of the badger hunting me, he thought himself as he reached the top, gazing into the thick wilderness that made ThunderClan's forest territory. Things change but everything's still the same.

"Spread out and try to find the scent again," he called over his shoulder to the patrol behind him. "Watch out for any ThunderClan as well."

"what are you doing here Reedstar Sunningrocks may be yours for now but by what you said you mean to come into thunderclan territory". firefur said with swifttail from in the trees.

OOC: Just making sure, so we're finding a badger?

IC: Lilystream followed Reedstar and the patrol into Sunningrocks. The she-cat loved this place, and seeing the sight of the rocks made her paws itch to scramble to one of the rocks, settle down and let the sun's warmth bathe her body. I don't have time for that, she shook away her thoughts and continued on. Lets just say, the she-cat is glad to have these rocks as part of RiverClan territory.

Following Reedstar's orders, Lilystream padded to near the edge of the clearing of these rocks. Opening her mouth, the she-cat tried to get every scent to find it. Just the stench of ThunderClan, she thought, as she felt disgusted and hated the scents of these cats. Her hackles raised and claws unsheathed when she heard the sound of a new cat. That must be ThunderClan! What are they doing here? Lilystream padded out of her area until she saw two ThunderClan warriors; Firefur and Swifttail. Standing close to her area, the she-cat let out a small hiss, but hoped there wouldn't be a battle. A lot of blood has shed for these rocks, do we really need to shed more?

"lunarpaw can you run back and tell dewstar to bring a patrol thecould mean only to look for somthing on sunningrocks but with fox hearts like them you never can tell". mewed firefur.

"No need" a cat emerged from the undergrowth, a few cat behind her. Spottedfeather dipped her head to Reedstar, and spoke to Firefur and Swifttail. "Don't be so hostile. You only have to ask why they are here, and to kindly stay off our turf" Speaking of which, why were they here?

"no offense but they were hostile to me and they never said why". mewed firfur and swifttail.

Lilystream snorted at the ThunderClan cats. How dare they startle me like that. We're not being hostile! Not wanting to start a fight with this ThunderClan cat, Lilystream just ignored them and continued on with her own business. "Mouse-brained warrior, thinking RiverClan would be hostile," she whispered under her breath, too low that no cat would be able to hear. The she-cat then glanced at Reedstar, waiting for what the RiverClan leader might say. Of course, it was just a misunderstanding from the ThunderClan warrior. Heading back to her area, Lilystream didn't think she'd find much there. So, the she-cat took a new path and headed to an area close to the river, avoiding the ThunderClan cats.

Reedstar's eyes flashed as the ThunderClan cats appeared, but he kept his expression even and his tone cool. "We're looking for a badger," he said with a flick of his tail. "Learn to control your warriors if you ever wish to lead someday, Spottedfeather. I would advise you to leave while we continue on our patrol."

"They are controlled, just defending our territory. And if it is a badger you seek, we shall look on our side of the border also, just in case it strays to our side. We wont risk it attacking our own clanmates" Spottedfeather stood a little taller, before flicking her tail for Firefur and Swifttail to go in the same direction of the other cat. While Spottedfeather moved in the direction Reedstar was going.

Maplebloom was one of the cats that was behind Spottedfeather. She nodded to Reedstar in greeting. "I'll look over here," Maplebloom said to her deputy as she started heading off in a different direction.

as firefur looked for a sent on there side of the border he picked up a feint sen t on the wind coming from the from direction of camp. "Spottedfeather i cented to heading towards camp.
