Kits are weird.

A brown fluffy ball of fur squirmed around and slowly revealed two green orbs. It waddled around, looking for a way to escape the bright light and blurriness. "It's too bright..." he mewed quietly.

Dapplepaw was just bringing the nursery some moss, when she heard a kit's small voice. The apprentice loved kits, so after she put the new moss in, she smiled at the little kit. "Hey, there! My name's Dapplepaw!" The she-cat purred.

"Hi Dapplepaw! I don't think I have a name!" the kit squeaked as he adjusted to the light.

Dapplepaw smiled. "How do you like living in the nursery so far?" she asked.

"I don't really know!" he replied. "I only just saw it!"

Dapplepaw laughed. "Yeah, I know how that goes." she meowed. "Want to explore the nursery?" the black cat asked.

"Yeah!" Burningkit waddled around, seeing nothing but queens and their kits. "Is this the whole place?"

Dapplepaw nodded. She had a feeling that disappointment of the small size of the nursery was coming.

"Oh..." Burningkit looked at the walls sadly.

Dapplepaw looked at Burningkit and saw the look of disappointment on his face. "Don't be sad, little one!" she comforted. "I'll show you some of the camp today, if that's okay with your mother!" the apprentice meowed cheerily, trying to lighten the mood.

Rosekit spoke up "Can I come too? I'm Burningkit's sister."

The black cat smiled. "Of course, you can come!" she stood up and flicked her tail. "Are you two ready?" she asked.

"Yeah!" Burningkit went to the nursery entrance.

"yeah I'm ready." Rosekit replied

Dapplepaw nodded and walked out of the nursery, waiting for the cats to catch up. When they did, she trotted to a den and stopped. "This is the apprentice den, where I sleep." she meowed.
