Battle to the death

The sun was high in the sky as Dawnpaw left ThunderClan camp. He had noticed that the fresh-kill pile was surprisingly low for greenleaf so he went had gone out to go hunting. He was near the edge of the territory when he smelled something, like SkyClan scent with ThunderClan buried underneath it. Maybe a cat who had left ThunderClan to join SkyClan. He knew that he was close to the border, but he decided to go over and check to make sure that they hadn't crossed over.

Duskpaw had left SkyClan camp at around the same time his brother had, only this time it was to get some fresh air. He hadn't left the camp in what seemed like days. He was at the border with ThunderClan when he heard footsteps nearing him. He was upwind from the other cat, so he couldn't smell them. As the other cat neared, he recognised their familiar ginger pelt. "You..."

"Duskpaw? What're you doing here?"

"I could ask of you the same thing."

And with that Duskpaw leapt at his brother and reached for his throat, trying to claw at it. Dawnpaw ducked, making Duskpaw fly over him and land face first into the large oak log that marked the border. He then ran over to his brother, who appeared to be unconscious. "Duskpaw? A... are you ok?" he asked, before Duskpaw leapt onto his feet. His face was covered in blood from being smashed against the log, but he didn't care. He started running at Dawnpaw, who quickly fled. After less than a minute of running, Dawnpaw turned around to face Duskpaw, who was still running. The both simultaneously leapt in the air at eachother and clawed at eachother's neck in the middle of the air, before both collapsing on the ground next to eachother choking.

"Why... Duskpaw... Why did you..." Dawnpaw choked, before his forest green eyes closed for the last time.

"You... deserved... it..." Duskpaw replied, his piercing blue eyes staying open as the life leapt out of them.

Coalheart padded out of camp to get fresh air. After a while, she looked around. This isn't how far she meant to come! She turned to leave, when the scent of blood filled her nose. "Oh no! What happened?" the warrior asked herself. She trotted across the grass, and her eyes widened at what she saw. "D-dawnpaw!" she whispered. Coalheart scanned the clearing for any sign of who did this, and saw Duskpaw lying on the ground. She scented the air, and managed to find only two scents there...Dawnpaw and Duskpaw. The warrior's legs felt like mud and she almost couldn't turn to leave. Coalheart closed her eyes, turned around, and ran, far away from the bloody scene. "I have to tell Dewstar or someone else!" she muttered. Soon she was at camp, panting from running the whole way. The she-cat ran over to the leader's den and sat there. "Dewstar! May I talk to you?" she asked urgently.
