Scratchpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Thrushstar leaped onto the rock and looked over the business of his clan. "Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

Scratchpaw stood up from the place where he was sunning and trotted over to the clearing. He groomed himself, leaving a few pieces of hair sticking up. The black tom sat down and stared up at Thrushstar.

"Tonight we gather to make this apprentice a warrior. Scratchpaw, please step forward," Thrushstar said, looking down at Scratchpaw.

Scratchpaw felt pride swell in his chest as he followed Thrushstar's instructions.

Looking at Scratchpaw and watching him as he stepped forward, Thrushstar continued. "Do you promise to serve and protect your clan, even with the cost of your life?"

The black apprentice nodded. "I do." he meowed firmly. I wonder what my warrior name'll be!

"Then by the powers of Starclan, I grant you your warrior name. Scratchpaw, from now on, you will be known as Scratchclaw," he meowed. "We welcome you as a full warrior of Shadowclan."

Scratchpaw .... no, Scratchclaw smiled and dipped his head. The new warrior trotted over to his friends after a moment.

Shadowpaw approached Scratchpaw and smiled at him. "Congratz, Scratchclaw, you are a warrior now." She flicked her tail and waited for him to respond.

Scratchclaw smiled and sat down. "Will you be lonely, without me?" he joked, whisker's twitching.

"Not really." Shadowpaw chuckled and nudged Scratchclaw with her paw. She sat and waited for him to reply.

"Want to go hunt?" he asked, wanting something to do.

"Yes, sure." Shadowpaw responded to her friend. She waited for something to happen.

He nodded and padded out of camp. Scratchclaw's nose led him to a patch of marsh, where he found a lizard basking on a large rock. The black cat crouched and leaped right onto the prey, and he didn't even have to get his paws muddy.

Shadowpaw also trotted out of the camp. She continued deep in the marsh until she found a vole eating seeds. She stalked it for a couple of seconds before she ran after it. When she caught up to it, she gave it a killing bite to kill it. She buried it and looked for other prey.
