Lilykit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather to hear my words!" Reedstar yowled from his perch, tail lashing. So many apprentice in the last few moons. They were becoming a pawful around camp, but it was the best blessing Greenleaf and StarClan could give them. They'd have an excess of young, strong warriors by the time the leaves began to fall.

Lilykit heard her leader's call. I wonder what Reedstar is going to announce this time? the she-cat thought. Maybe... my apprentice ceremony? Yes, it's gotta' be! Getting her hopes up, the grey kit gathered with the other cats towards Reedstar.

Reedstar met the kit's eyes and started. "Lilykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Lilypaw. Your mentor will be Midnightsky. I hope he will pass down all he knows on to you."

The resemblance is uncanny.


Midnightsky looked up at Reedstar and Lilykit. Here's hoping I don't mess this up... I wish I could have been a bit better... Ugh... No time to sulk about Cloverpaw. I should be happy. He went up next to Lilypaw. "Hi there."

Lilypaw, no longer Lily'kit', glared at her mentor. "Hi..." Lilypaw shyly mewed. I will not screw this up! I'm going to make my mentor proud! Lilypaw thought, feeling motivated. "I will make you proud!" the she-cat whispered to Midnightsky with hope glittering in her eyes.

Small world... I said that to Reedatar at my apprentice ceremony. He thought and touched noses with Lilypaw. "Of course you will, you're RiverClan after all."
