| It had been some time since Mousetail had gotten an apprentice. This time, she absolutely dreaded it, but it had to be done. It wasn't anything that Swiftpaw had done-- no, not at all. It was all in her head. All of her nightmares. Shaking it off, she padded to the apprentice's den and stuck her head in to try to find her apprentice. "Swiftpaw, wake up! It's time for battle training!" |

| "It's time for your battle training," the warrior repeated, slightly chuckling at the apprentice with an amused look on her face. Maybe training Swiftpaw would be easy. She kind of hoped it would be. |

| Mousetail paused as she watched Swiftpaw jump around, asking again what they were doing after she had already told him twice. Was he hard of hearing? "We're doing battle training. Now calm down and follow me," she said again as she padded out of the camp and came to a soft spot in the territory. It was oddly covered in sand, but it made the perfect spot for battle training. "Today you are going to learn how to fight. You need to know how to defend yourself, but that's all. Fighting is not a way to win your battles unless they attack you first." |

| Mousetail turned toward the apprentice and got in a ready position. "Alright let's see what you got. Come at me with whatever you can think of."OOC: alright this is going to get long. Here on the site, we use a battle system which can be found in the Rules at the top of the home page. Once there, you click on the Battle System. This shows you what moves the system contains, how much stamina they use, and how much damage they deal to your opponent. And it's all conveniently placed in charts :D So, to start off with, you can choose any move that your character is able to use (you check this in the column that says "Rank First Usable"). Since your character is an apprentice, he can use anything up to the move Tail Yank. This first chart only shows you how much stamina each move uses and if it has any special effects. Let's take Front Paw Strike for example. By looking in the row that the move is in, it tells you that this move uses 10 stamina. So whenever you use this move in a battle, you must subtract 10 from your total stamina (health and stamina for each rank can be found here.). Since an apprentice has 80 max stamina, after the move is used, an apprentice will only have 70 stamina left. Now for the damage. Still looking at Front Paw Strike, we move on to the next chart on the page. This chart just looks like a bunch of numbers next to each move on the chart. This shows how much damage each rank does. (K*= kit, A**= Apprentice, NAW= Newly Appointed Wariror, etc.). So you will want to look in the A** column (don't mind the stars, those don't matter at the moment). You will look for the number that is in the row for Front Paw Strike and the column for A**. So, that number will be 14. So, Swiftpaw will do 14 damage to whoever he is attacking. Let's just say he is attacking anther apprentice. Since an apprentice has 20 max health, you subtract 14 from the 20 of your opponent to get 6. Does this make sense? Example: Swiftpaw used Front Paw Strike on another Apprentice dealing 14 damage and using 10 stamina.(you then put the stats of each cat) Swiftpaw: 20/20 health 70/80 stamina Apprentice: 6/20 health 80/80 stamina and just in case, you do bold by using this: - Code:

| OOC: sweet :D you got it!! There's only one more thing you have to add in order to use a move such as leap-and-hold which does have a special effect. Although, in order to use this, you will actually have to click the "Post Reply" button at the bottom left or top left corners of the page. When looking at the first chart, it also has the special effect column. For a move such as Leap-and-Hold, it says this: "Can't be hurt while using. Damage inflicted each turn move is in effect. -Roll one "Effect Dice"- 1, 2, 3, works for one turn. 4, 5, 6, works for two turns." This means that when replying to the topic (through the Post Reply), you post as normal with your attack, but you will have to add the dice to it which can be found underneath the Send button. It has its own box that should say "Dices Roll." In this box, you will see "Dices roll #1" and then a drop down menu. Since we got rid of the hunting system, the only dice you can choose is Effect Dice. Choose that. The number next to the word "Dice rolls" never needs to be touched. (If you cannot see the dices roll options and only see the words Dices Roll, to the very right, there should be a + sign. click that and everything should appear). Once you've done this, press send and it will redirect you to your post plus a post from Mistpelt underneath your own which gives you a random number from the dices roll. Let's just say that this number happened to be 3. Now that you have your number, you look back at the special effect column of the first chart in the battle system and follow its directions. For leap-and-hold, a 3 means that the move only works for one turn, so then you edit your post to fit the description. I shall give you an example using this post. This will require a little bit of god-modding, but it is for instructional purposes only. The words in italics are what I edited into my post.
IC: Mousetail flinched as Swiftpaw jumped onto her back. "That's good! You know how to use the leap-and-hold, but your grip is too loose." To show what she meant, she was able to quickly throw Swiftpaw off of her before she turned on him and did the same.
Mousetail used Leap-and-Hold with sheathed claws dealing 0 damage and using 10 stamina. In effect for one more turn.
Swiftpaw 20/20 Health 70/80 Stamina
Mousetail 46/60 Health 190/200 Stamina

| After being hit, Mousetail looked at Swiftpaw. "Well you seem to have this down pretty well already after only your first day!" She turned around to face him. "Would you like to continue or take a break for the day?" |

| OOC: alright now you're getting into clan moves. That involves the third table and the fourth. Both of which work the same as the first table and second table respectively. Because of this, the move Tree Spring uses 25 stamina, not 10. On top of that, the clan moves can only be used once per battle. Another thing: since this is Swiftpaw's first battle training, he technically should not know any of these moves. That's the point of "training" cx so if you want to continue this, let's take it a bit slower and actually have Mousetail teach Swiftpaw these moves instead of him suddenly knowing everything about battling. |
