Fighting Practice

The sun was just rising. Twopaw was sitting just outside the apprentices den. He had woken up around an hour ago and couldn't fall back asleep. He didn't have anything planned for that day, no training whatsoever. He figured that he should practise some fighting techniques with some other apprentices, he needed some practise in case WindClan got in a fight with another clan. He peeked into the apprentices den to see if any of them were awake, he didn't want to train alone.

Riverpaw woke up and stretched inside her moss. She knew that she only had some chores to do around camp today and hoped a hunting patrol or something would ask her to join in. She quietly sat up in her nest hoping to not wake up any of the other apprentices.

Firepaw woke up wearily.
"Mornin' Riverpaw, Twopaw," she mewed.

Twopaw smiled. "Hello, Firepaw," he mewed, before looking at the two cats and asking, "I was thinking of having some fighting practice, our assessments shouldn't be too far away. Would you like to come with me?"

"Duh, course I would! Count me in!" Firepaw giggled.

"Riverpaw?" he asked.

Riverpaw jumped up excitedly, "count me in! I could take both of you" she mewed with her head held high.

"Alright then let's go!" Twopaw said.

He led the two other apprentices out into the territory and stopped at a clear patch. "Ok, Firepaw you attack me and I'll try and defend myself," he said, bracing himself for the attack.

Firepaw grinned.
"Okay," she launched herself at Twopaw. She was agile. Firepaw landed on top of him.

Twopaw fell over as Firepaw landed on him. "Nice one!" he said. "Can you... you... you... Get off of me!" He shouted, his sudden change of voice surprising the other cats. He leapt up, throwing the light ginger she-cat off of him. "My turn now!" he said, before leaping onto Firepaw.

Riverpaw watched the two fighting and noticed a change inTwopaw. Her ears fell flat against her head. She wondered if he was like this only because they were fighting. She shook it off and leaped at them.

Noticing Riverpaw leaping onto him, Twopaw turned around and threw her off too. He then leapt off of Firepaw and charged for Riverpaw, who was just getting up from being thrown off. "Outta my way!" he shouted, knocking her back down. "Ha! This is so much fun, fighting other cats." Twopaw then stood over Riverpaw, preventing her from getting up.

Riverpaw was shocked at the strength and speed of Twopaw when he knocked her over. Her fur bristled and she snarled at him, "Get off of me!" She tried to push him off with her hind legs but she was smaller than the tom. "Whats gotten into you?" She hissed at him.

"Gotten into me? Ha ha! Nothing's gotten into me at all!" Twopaw exclaimed, before scratching Riverpaw down her side. "In fact, I feel perfectly fine...fine...fine...fine... How did I get over here?" he asked, his voice slowly changing back to normal. He then looked down at Riverpaw and saw her scratch. "Wh... who did this to you? What happened?" he asked, not actually knowing that it was him.

Firepaw lay at the other side of the clearing. Her head had hit the boulders and she lay motionless. A welt was beginning to knot on the back of her head. Firepaw's eyes were shut and drops of blood came from a small gash next to the welt. Firepaw fortunately groaned but didn't move.
