Goldfang walked to the apprentice den "Breezepaw?"

Breezepaw lifted her head and blinked open her eyes. "Coming, Goldfang." She yawned as she stretched her rather thin back. Her stomach rumbled as she emerged from the apprentice den.

Breezepaw nodded as another rumble erupted from her belly. Cringing, she followed her mentor as her thun leg carried her through the thorn tunnel

Breezepaw stuck her nose up and closed her eyes. "I smell...mouse....near a tree leaking with sap." She murmured as the sweet scent of sap and the warm tamg of mouse merged together in her nose. She openned her eyes and looked around. There was a birch tree about five foxlengths away thay has the amber liquid oozing from a crack in the bark. On the roots of that tree was a scrawny mouse, snuffling through the frost bitten blades of grass

Goldfang looked at where she was looking and saw the mouse. "Show me your best hunting crouch."

Breezepaw remembered what her dead father had taught her. His deep, scorning voice rang in her ears and she winced. Pushing the memory away, Breezepaw crouched low to the ground, he tail just above the ground so it didn't brush any debris. Her head was low, as was her body. Her bony shoulderblades poked out as she crept a little closer to the rodent.

"Should i try catching it?" She whispered a bit too loudly as the mouse heard and began to scurry away. Instinct made Breezepaw dart forward before the mouse got any further. Giving it a nip it became limp.

Breezepaw turned around with the mouse in her jaws. "Thankyou." She mrrowed as she buried the mouse under a root.

Breezepaw nodded and silently crept into the bushes. Her bony hips sticking out caused the leaves to shake a little but not dosturb the scent trail of a pigeon.

Emerging into a clearing surrounded by brambles, a pigeon was pecking the hard frozen ground. Checking the wind, Breezepaw was on the receiving end of ghe smell. The wind was blowing toward her so the bird couldn't smell her. Performing the hunters crouch, slowly she crept up to the pigeon and leaped high into the air as it took off. Breezepaw's claw snagged on one wing, bringing the bird and her to the floor. She landed gracefully with the pigeon in her jaws.

Emerging back into the clearing where Goldfang sat, Breezepaw set the fat pigeon at his feet.
